I was thinking this, too. Even if they somehow manage to get a method for everyone to escape, how the hell do they expect to get a bunch of children to agree with them? If they kill their handler first then the younger children will have no choice but to obey, and they can leave after that. Although it seems likely that either her vitals are being monitored or if she fails to maintain regular contact, then the people outside will investigate quickly. But there's no reason for them to keep her alive when they make their escape attempt.

I think it's pretty clear that mama has some kind of deal with the demons, when she realizes they are full of bullshit and only let he live because her meat was not worth shit and would have killed her anyway when they got a better handler for the children.

We will see a sad flashback where she agrees to cooperate with the demons because it's, in her eyes, the only plausible way to survive, but then Emma will make her see that there's a chance for the humans to escape and change the system.

So she will let out all the regret accumulated over the years of sending kids to their deaths and she will side with their escape and sacrifice herself to stop or delay the demon's somehow.

Lots of plans, expositive talking and logic, but little emotion. I mean, they grew up next to Mama, but are already acting as if they did not care about it. "We will do this and that...". I knew that turn them into geniuses was not a good idea.

The other two expressed some emotion at Mama's betrayal, though I admit there could have been more. They don't need more dedicated scenes showing their anger and sorrow. I think it could be more mixed in and better presented. The descriptors of how their rooms now seem to be so obviously prisons, could have been a perfect time to depict their terror and horror. When Mama grabbed Emma's face, rather than just fear, the author could have had her feel mixed emotions of automatic love and respect, then have that curdle into fear and anger. The latest chapter was definitely too fast, especially for Ray, but the first three I felt had the pacing right, if opportunities where missed.

But Mama has passed her prime. Her brain isn't going to be worth very much since she is an adult and her brain has already begun to undergo the mental damages that plague us in later adult life. Her brain will be LESSER quality than a child's brain.

Also Norman looks pretty tasty; I guess I'd eat him. I'd bet personality might have an affect on favor.

My biggest gripe with the chapters so far is that I wish they bothered to put sound effects for the noise of the other kids in when Emma and Norman are planning not far away from Mama. Because right now it feels like I have to keep that imaginary anime barrier in mind so that Mama can't even hear either of them nearly yelling at some points (looking at you Emma). Not even whisper balloons? Throws me off a bit.

Let's look at one of the unusual detail in this story: there is a flower coming out of Conny's chest. Now let's look at another detail: the kids have a tracking device of sort in in their body. What if both of these things are related? What if every kid has a seed implanted in their chest which tracks their position and which can also be remotely triggered to deliver a death sentence? Perhaps the reason Mama is trying to prevent a security breach is not because it can actually succeed but because she doesn't want to be forced to execute kids before their due date, which would apparently waste some of their value since they must be executed at a precise date. This puts a large hurdle in the plans of the protagonist. In the end they would have only one solution left: if they wish to escape then they will have to take out Mama.

Regardless, though, I think Mama is going to end up dad or seriously incapacitated. The fact that she is a human fighting for her survival is a set up for the classic "we've become the monsters now" now moment, and Norman's willingness to do whatever it takes to get everyone out, leads me to believe he's going to kill Mama. If they get rid of her, there is almost nothing letting them have everyone escape.

This shit is better than most of the current Jump manga.
