I like to think about it this way.
Bebop is traditional Gundam.
Outlaw Star is Mobile Fighter G Gundam, more ridiculous/unrealistic but in a fun way.

Outlaw star is good shit, too bad it wasnt popular in japan so it'll probably never get a revival or figs.

Great opening, serviceable plot, MC isn't a beta faggot. Sadly, there's not enough good /ss/ doujinshi between Aisha and the kid. In fact, there's zero of these.

Actually I've always seen it on lists for "gateway drug" anime and generally recommended for newfags. I thought it was supposed to be popular and, while not a masterpiece, respected for what it is.

Above average but not on the level of Bebop. Worth a watch if you want another space western after finishing Bebop.

I think is mostly because it aired on american TV years ago so it was probably something people watched when they're wan't as much access.
