I'm actually trying to watch Gunbuster, but no matter what I do, I keep having problems with EP 5 from the EG/Nyaa release. I've tried like five different players at this point, and with various settings. VLC drops frames left and right, mpv can't keep the video playing smoothly or keep the audio track in sync, and Kaffeine can't even load it properly. What's retarded, the file, the player, my hardware, or me?

On the EG release the 5th and 6th episode is 1080p, the rest are 720p.

The most likely scenario is that your hardware is just too weak to play it. You could try a different OS and different/newer GPU drivers.

I'm about 72 episodes into Mazinger Z, and I plan to finish it it then next few days. It's a lot better then I thought it was going to be.
I'm also on episode 32 of Ashita no Joe and I'm enjoying the hell out of it's crazy and depressing ride.
Finally, I'm going through Urusei Yatsura for the first time, and out of the three shows I'm watching now, I think my favorite. I'm on episode 120
