Think of humans - they get stronger, more intelligent, etc. as they grow up - up to a point, where age hits them and they slowly get weaker instead of stronger. Also the trope of older = stronger is in basically every fantasy setting anyway.

First vampire was Cain who killed Abel. As 1st generation he was insanely powerful. When he created second generation, he combined his blood with humans. So second generation have 50% power of 1st progenitor. And 3rd progenitor have 50% of 2nd progenitor power etc

Thats why Mika is pretty strong and have much potential withiout being full vampire (blue eyes etc) because he was made by a lot stronger vampire. He lacks experience but not power

Dunno how it works in Owari no seraph, but in world of darkness rpg 1-3 progenitors are asleep and rest is afraid of them, because ancient dislike younger vampires and its said that when they wake up, they will wipe earth of any human and vampire being

Yes its specific but generation things really looks like form vampire masquareade in post-apocalypse setting. And just by looking at 6-7gen progenitors clearing whole squads of humans, Krul Tepes is unkillable by human and maybe by seraph of the end. And there's still 1-4 progenitors above with only seraph (or full manifested demon) to combat them.

Its kinda hard to predict when anime/maga doesnt explain whole thing

The power dilutes as its spread and is most pure in its earliest recipients. Typically, the original vampire is either a demon come to earth in service of some biblical shit-stirring, or a human who made a deal with a demon, and became one themselves. They're the strongest because their power comes directly from the source. The ones they turn, and in turn the ones turned by those, the 1st and 2nd generations retain the most of that power, but beyond that it begins to split so much that it ceases to be a biblical monstrosity and more of a simple nigh-prowling ghoul.

In some iterations, the actual transformation itself takes lifetimes and lots of feeding to "complete" and centuries for all of the abilities they're technically capable of using to be mastered, but the core concept is that the oldest are the strongest simply because they're the ones closest to the original, who is the source of all their strength.

Most of the time an "awakened ancient evil" is not any stronger than he was before he was sealed. A young vampire isn't going to be gain extra superpowers by being locked in a casket. It's just that usually it is the really powerful monsters, the ones that heroes weren't able to kill, who are the ones who get sealed. And that means every sealed monster was already powerful in the first place.

That's only in some settings. In most settings there's no difference between equally old vampires of generation x and generation y. Older vampires of course tend to be stronger due to more experience and more time to improve their skills.
