Is anyone else autistic enough to legitimately enjoy watching anime on VHS?
It gives me a nostalgic feel, like it's some kind of connection to western anime fans of old, back when bootleg VHS was the only way to get anime outside Japan.
No. I replaced my VHS collection as soon as I got proper internet.
no
but if I had the chance to rewatch NGE on VHS I would
i've probably never watched an anime on vhs.
What about an HD digital rip of vhs?

Back when I was in school I programmed my VHS recorder to record the daily Detective Conan episode every day, since it aired at 14:00 or something and I usually wasn't home before 16:00. I probably still have that VHS with the detective conan episodes on it somewhere.
That was in 2006 or so, before I knew about subs and downloading of episodes.
I hope all of you guys here watched Cassette Girl.

>2006
Damn, I've been actively downloading since 2003. Guess living in a second world country with barely anything airing helped.

I don't even have a vhs player anymore.
Whatever, the only anime I had was the first two seasons of pokémon recorded from tv.

I still have Tototo on VHS. The dubbing on that one was much better than the redub they did since it's release.
>Earth is magnetic
>VHS is on Magnetic tape
>Soon all VHS anime will Dem-magnetize & /a/ won't even be able to watch anime on VHS if they want to
Who here experienced anime on VHS before it was too late?
>>146111594
I don't do it but I can see the appeal.

>The VHS format was in steep decline by late 2002, and by 2003 nearly every publisher was stuck with a huge pile of VHS inventory that was quickly becoming worthless. (FUNimation, back then really only known for Dragon Ball Z, was rumored to have been sitting on over a million units.) The publishers tried to get creative by blowing the old tapes out for cheap, particularly at anime conventions, but most units ended up either in liquidation (and ending up in places like Big Lots) or in landfills.
I used to rent DBZ VHSs from Blockbuster. They came in huge sets.
I no longer have a working VCR. I dont know if I have any VHS tapes anymore, but it was all just shit taped off toonami when I was a kid. Endless waltz and probably some episodes of pokemon or something. (Yes, pokemon wasn't on toonami, I know)

That's some comfy shit right there
>>146122224
Cheap as hell too. Something like $15 for all 4 tapes.
