This is actually my favorite part of the manga, desu, and the reason that the people above complaining about Takagi being a mind-reader are actually wrong: Nishitaka unintentionally throws her off her guard a couple of times, but he just never notices because he's dense.

Here's a recent example. Look at her expression and reactions in panels 2 and 4. She's excited in panel 2 when she hears that Nishitaka came in early because he heard she was cleaning, and she's even blushing (just a little bit). Nishitaka doesn't even notice, though, so in panel 4 when she realizes it's just another game she's visibly (but subtly) disappointed. To me, that's the sweet part of this manga: throughout it all, you keep getting these little reminders that she totally has a crush on him too. Makes me kinda giddy.

This manga got boring after the timeskip chapter mostly because I want to see more of Takagi jr.

Yeah, I do. I think they have a similar appeal to me. I'm having trouble putting it into words but they're both love comedies about schemers plotting against the objects of their affection in lieu of regular flirting, with varying doses of denial at play among the characters involved. Takagi is the only main character out of the two series who seems to know what she's doing of the two series (i.e., she seems to be self-aware about her crush on Nishitaka). Both series therefore naturally involve a lot of almost-neurotic worrying by the characters involved; both characters are plotting and being plotted against in Kaguya, but it's a more restricted POV in Takagi so we can only see Nishitaka's thoughts. I guess I can kind of identify with that feeling now even as I associate it with the innocence of my earlier life.

Kaguya's author seems to enjoy the plotting bit even more than the execution, and like I said the POVs are different, so thankfully they don't get too samey, but I can definitely see why a person who liked the one would like the other.

Takagi slips up slightly all the time -- things don't work out "perfectly," at least not in exactly the way she intends them to: she was surprised, at least initially, on the page where Nishitaka asks her to the spring festival, and there are loads of other instances in the story where she's taken off guard in other ways. It makes more sense that she prepares situations where she has a plan for most possible outcomes, and her only writing part of the name would fit well with that.

Because it's not a flimsy tease at all, it's nothing. It doesn't make sense. She has a clear command written on one side of the eraser, and on the back she has his name written, and he expects to see a name on the eraser. 西 by itself is nothing. It just means west. "I forgot to finish writing" doesn't make any sense at all, there's no way to spin it. It's an incredibly lame cover up and it doesn't fit any of the internal logic of the series that she'd forget writing something like that. On top of that, the punchline itself would be incredibly flat.
