He was long established as the kaioshin while the elder was trapped in the sword. Since Beerus never died it is safe to say shin is Beerus' other half. Remember gods can be replaced. Since the other kiaoshins were absorbed not dead, it's possible Zeno decided on shin, or shin was just the last one.

Reading back your reply made me realize that the reasons why I enjoy it won't make it much better than its predecessors, it can only be better than itself, if that makes sense. Its always nice to see other point of views which is why I keep asking. no this statement is severely outdated.
Since the Toyotaro-Toriyama interview that took place 5 months ago the purpose of the manga has been revealed to be much more than what it was first intended.
Not only did Toriyama confirm that Toyotaro can put his own plot elements into the manga, he said he trusts Toyotaro the most out of all the animators and artists to be the closest to his own personal style.
He said the animators are now taking tips and acknowledging Toyotaro as their superior and not only that Toriyama himself reviews each monthly chapter himself to make sure it's in line with his vision.
It has evolved to become much more than just a mere commercial for the anime.

i almost agree with you 100% but the truth is the manga is held back on some key factors.
1) the anime has the spotlight as it leads the narrative one step ahead of the manga instead of the opposite.
2)it feels completely rushed at times as if it's trying to cram a lot into 1 monthly chapter instead of having the leisure to take it's time.

If it was a weekly manga where it can lead the story ahead of the anime it would be amazing.
the quality of the anime would also increase because Toei would stick to just dupliicating Toyotaro and Toriyama's amazing work instead of making up their own framework.
If the manga could have been the backbone and template for the anime to replicate, Toei wouldn't have gotten half the shit thrown at them because their job would have been much easier just duplicating and recreating the "source" manga material.
Sadly the anime is their cash cow so it's unlikely they will ever revert to the old standard model.
