The author loves sucking Rokuro's dick, and now tossed Benio to the back of the bus. I'd be surprised if she even shows up during this arc, which will probably last something like a year and a half, maybe more.

And if she does show up, assuming the author didn't won't just forget about her and have Roku and Mayura fight Yuuto without her, it'll probably be as an antagonist after turning into a Basara, only to be saved by Rokuro before being useful again.

I started reading this manga because I liked Binbougami Ga, but unfortunately it has the usual MC-itis of shounen.

Are you a troll or something? Mayura fought the same Basara, and that Basara wasn't the weakest. All the Basara have different strengths and weaknesses. But of course there's a leader who is strongest.

Mayura got played around and beaten by it. Powering up only made the Basara get a bit more serious. Benio woke up and powered up too and she pushed that Basara to go all-out. Benio got knocked out in their all-out clash, but the Basara lost its leg and wasn't in a state to continue fighting any of the other exorcists.

The war with kegare cannot be won by continuing to fight as they have, they have to give the kegare what they want, ie. purification to return to the flow of yang, like what Seimei did when Rokuro was a babby. The Twin Stars only work by being extremes of yin and yang united, that is Douman and Seimei working together to understand the true needs of the universe (balance, where negative/corrupt doesn't need to overlap the positive/living, but doesn't cease to exist either. Death is thematically yin, so killing kegare only spawns more in longterm). Benio was already brety gud as an onmyouji and didn't have totally crippling circumstances to rise from like Rokuro did at the start, so now she's getting her hamfisted development by going back to stage zero, and probably aligning with her guardian better than Rokuro can so he feels behind again.

You shouldn't worry about titular characters not being their titular roles any more when there's prophecies all over this shop. Arima is watching.

If you're talking about the fight with Kamui, that was Benio's first time fighting against something like that. This was also before the timeskip.

Mayura also got a helping hand from her daddy Seigen. Its not her training that led her to handle herself like that against Higano. Higano even mentioned several times how she didn't even belong with the rest of them on the battlefield and was worthless as an exorcist.
