On a different note, I read the first few released chapters of Next Dimension some years ago, and it baffles me how Kurumada's artwork has barely improved. as an artist myself it's just bizarre how someone can spend 20+ years drawing and improve so little, even if it's someone not trying very hard.

It's not simply a matter of artstyle. Kurumada's body proportions have always looked awkward, he repeats the same poses and expressions all the time, draws hair always the same way - it's one of the reasons there's so much sameface in his works. and from what I've seen, he's never pushed himself to experiment or improve with more complex skills such as use of perspective, different inking techniques, and so on. His artwork is incredibly flat.

That said, that's not a problem per se. It's just that most artists do change their artwork naturally over the years (even Eiichiro Oda as mentioned by >>145682804), even if subtly, simply out of practice or the artist's own repertoire and sensibility. But I can barely see such changes in Kurumada's artwork, outside of the clothes.

Rumiko Takahashi is another manga artist whose style has changed very little considering how long she's been active, but you definitely can see the differences between Urusei Yatsura and that Rinne whatever series she's currently making.

Also, the changes and evolution in style I'm talking about aren't necessarily for the better, as pointed out by >>145682634 with Toriyama.

The current Otokozaka doesn't look ALL that hot either, Kurumada peaked during the 90s in his artwork (Aoi Tori no Shinwa / Evil Crusher Maya / B't X) but as expected since he's a little old now his stuff hasn't been all that good for a bit

Otokozaka does look better than ND though. It seems the linework finishers for the digital coloring just make it too stiff and robs a lot of the impact.

I think the process influences a lot (see that cover with the RNK2 and SS protagonists Kurumada did when he drew the prologue for Overture), it was digitally painted and both characters look stiff like ND typically does.

I watched it on crunchyroll and the subs weren't so bad, but the had up until Sanctuary. The ones i had to watch for Asgard/Poseidon were pretty bad

1- Weak animation
Starts okay in the first OVA serie, but then it quickly becomes a slideshow.
2 - Changed the voice actors
Once again,after the Tenkai movie, all voices actors were changed for weird reasons.
3 - Straight adaptation
Some changes (good and bad) are made in the first OVA serie. After that it's pretty much a copy/paste of the manga. The hades arc is shit and the anime made no effort to improve it.
But that's just my opinion, some people like it. I call them tasteless plebs because they're different than me.

Only saving grace is the soundtrack, including some tracks made for the 90's adaptation of Hades that was never made.
