Season 1 is actually pretty complexly written and staged if you devote the mental time to it, and the music adds a lot to it, too.

Turning your brain off works too, but it's genuinely a good time no matter what. The ending promised by episode 1 would have been an awesome way to end the series, but I'm okay with keeping the cast for the sheer sake of it.

S2 is for fun and memes. S3 is for completionism and memes.

While Nana and Ayahi have a long story with music and singing Aoi career was mostly centered around acting. She struggles a lot while performing live in front of an audience which is something she has been improving little by little through the years. Mostly in 2015 which had her having her first solo concert plus two lives with Petit Milady all in the span of that year, so she showed a lot of improvement.

The decision she made back then was to sing the songs in-character rather than in a more proper way like the CD versions.She mentioned this herself.
Nana encouraged this decision as she suggested Aoi to "be herself" on stage.

I find it baffling that you watched her performance and came to to the conclusion that she can't sing like Hibiki live rather than notice she isn't even trying to replicate what she would need to do to interpret the song "properly" like she does when recording in studio.
She could always stand mostly on the same spot, not jump, nor yell, nor shout lines of the series mid-song, nor attempt to engage the audience in any way and she would sound like she sounds on studio, which is something that evidently she isn't trying to achieve or she wouldn't be engaging in all those actives.

Remember when GX episode 1 had just aired? Thinking that the episode was setting the tone for the season, I was expecting the dumbest, greatest season of Symphogear yet.

Was TopDad really the biggest problem with GX?
I mean, it's fun having him as scapegoat and all but the way I see it, the season being structured like a MotW show (but really poorly executed) was it's biggest falling.

Most of the episodes follow roughly the same pattern
>First half: Character X jobs to a doll and lose their Geah. Rinse and repeat.
>Second half: Character X defeats a doll with the power of Ignite. It's all part of Carol's plan though. Rinse and repeat.
Felt like something out of a bad Super Sentai.
Then you Carol's plan that is played as this ominous and dramatic thing when her actions are painfully clear to the audience since the start of the show. We all know than most of what happens is part of an elaborated scheme by Carol, so this makes the victories of the S.O.N.G team feel null and meaningless.
It's also why Ver's return was so memorable, because Carol wasn't counting on it

But yeah, not sure what Kaneko was thinking while coming up with GX.
