Actually, world trigger's 7th volume sold better than black clover's did (~85k and ~75k respectively). However, this was about a month before the anime had started, so there was probably a minor sales boost after the anime announcement. We just have to wait for black clover to get its own anime and see how its sales will be to judge whether or not it will be big.
