It was the best mecha-esque loli mahou shoujo series. Bordering between moeGar and risque fanservice and high yuri fuel, the amount of doujin and ero material this series generated was in the top tier.

But StrikerS happened and things went all went south fast. In short, the series peaked at A's. The movies for Nonoha and A's are great and in some ways surpassed the tv, so they're a must watch.

The yuri in Nanoha is secondary and doesn't get in the way of the plot, the problem with Nanoha is that Tsuzuki doesn't know what to do with the story anymore, I wouldn't be surprised if Vivid Strike is actually an idols spin off.

I really want a season that takes place in between A's and StrikerS and that follows Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate, rather than dozens of new side characters. They could have it be about Nanoha actually joining the spacetime bureau or whatever the fuck it was called and her rise to fame within it, which was barely mentioned in StrikerS.

But instead they're making another Vivid spinoff because dude loli lmao

I actually went to watch Nanoha around 2008 after reading on tvtropes that when the two lesbo girls grow up, they sleep in one bed and adopt a kid.

I totally watched first two seasons in the wait for that and kept viewing it thinking, "man I can't wait for tsese lolis to grow up! Why the hell make them fucking 9 years old, aren't you pushing it a bit, Japan?"

Yes, but little is still greater than zero. And it's still better than what we got in StrikerS. Literally no effort was made to make the audience care about the new planet and its people. Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate pretty much existed only to do their jobs, and their jobs were fucking boring. Mid Childa could have been blown up DBZ-style and I would have given no shits.

I'm probably the person ViviD is for. I'm a complete sucker for historical world building. So I'm really enjoying the way they're providing so much more information on ancient Belka ad making it an interesting setting in its own right, and then showing how all of that distilled itself into the modern characters in ViviD.

I realize I'm kind of an exception, but give me an extended "flashback" about some event or characters that took actions hundreds of years earlier, and show how those actions reverberated into the modern world and I'll watch or read whatever you have to offer.

I doubt it. I tried getting some regular releases going last year but quickly ended up regretting it. I think the problem is that there's no benefit in the community being active if there's nothing new coming out that people are interested in. Without that, threads have nothing to do but turn sour over old shit.

Most anime communities don't last long once new material dries up. Well, I guess in this case, Nanoha's still sort of getting new material but the new material is basically the Mighty No. 9 of Nanoha. Only a matter of time until Nanoha is deader than Megaman.

First season is terribly generic 80's mahou shoujo schlock for five episodes until Fate appears and then it becomes great.

A's is the pinnacle of the series and has everything the series is famed for: cute lesbian girls firing hugeass beams at each other with a Nana Mizuki OP.

StrikerS is okay, but it suffers from clear problems with introducing WAY too many new characters, essentially sidelining the main characters for a long time, and lots of shitty training arcs (it gets better in the second half though). The decision to have Fate and Nanoha (and Hayate I guess) grow up into adults is controversial.

FORCE was a literal mistake and is probably no longer canon. Somehow people thought that putting a useless male lead in a show centered around gay gundam girls would be well-received, plus the author had a huge hard-on for the villains and it showed.

ViVid is centered on Nanoha's and Fate's adopted daughter and basically fully panders to the franchise's lolicon fandom (although not nearly so much as Prisma Ilya), basically just little girls beating the shit out of each other. The manga is okay, the anime is terrible because for some reason the studio didn't like loliservice in a spinoff aimed at lolicons.

First movie is great as a condensed version of S1 which as mentioned earlier has an insanely slow start. Second movie is pretty cool too. StrikerS movie never ever.

If Vivid Strike goes the reboot route instead of being just a spinoff and is good, then there's a chance. Otherwise, I think it's just best to let it die and move on to spiritual successors like Symphogear.
