Jesus fucking christ I'm just...SO impressed by this series so far.

The characters are ALL extremely likable, even the ones that are supposed to be kinda bitchy (Teru). They're all interesting and make me want to know more about them, and how they'd react in certain situations. I wouldn't give a fuck if an episode just randomly centered on that middle part kid from telepathy club, I 'd bet it would be cool as hell anyways.
The fucking general animation and direction. Jeez. Always interesting and entertaining angles and effects, both really good at subtle animation with eases and super jarring action-ey stuff. So many cool techniques blending together, you rarely see a balance such as this.
The character animation acting is especially interesting, the certain ways characters move (best example is episode one Reigen) to express certain things beyond fighting and mobility. It's done in a strange way that I rarely see anime do.
The ways the emotions hit, too- seeing Mob suffer like this really got to me, even though we've only been through 5 episodes. Even the line "I'm terrible" in episode 3 got me good. Everything is so well delivered.
I really love this anime. I haven't seen anything that made me this excited since (non /a/ sorry) Over the Garden Wall for example. Super glad everyone seems to be enjoying it, too.

Also, Mob is pure and cute. What a good kid.

Will Bones write the twins back into the story?

I wish Mob psycho stayed a slice-of-life with supernatural stuff every now and then, the more down-to-earth arcs are amazing. The introduction of stuff like the Claw association or that espers research facility kinda ruined the tone of the manga overall for me, even if it was thanks to them we got some of the best moments in the series.

I hope ONE's next work won't go full shonenshit.

I really, REALLY want to.
Thing is, animation+sound etc. impacts me a lot more than manga. The delivery and mood combined can really punch you in the stomach. I'm an animation student, so I guess that kind of makes sense.

That being said, I suppose reading the manga first and then seeing the adaptation could help me study how to deliver certain things from storyboard to full animation? I don't know.

The whole fight was saddening. It wasnt even really a fight honestly, more like a very ineffective beat down up until that last part.

I think what really got me was that Mob was genuinely trying to be nice and be friends with Teru. He didnt want to fight him whether it was with his powers. And knowing what he's been through yet still trying to get along with him, ideologies aside it was still brought down to a nice kid fending off another boy with a chip on his shoulder.

I'd say they both have their merits.

The anime has the god tier animation, vas, and ost but it's lack the comedic timing to pull off the manga and less impactful for certain scene. But I also praise it for taking artistic liberties for other scenes such as the oil painting.

The manga doesn't have the ost, vas or animation but it makes up for it in the great paneling, being more drawn out than the anime, the omakes they didn't cover, and obviously the scenes that had more impact than the anime

Personally, I only really started to warm up to the manga's comedy around Teru's arc, and the exact same thing happened with the anime: episode 4 is the first one that legitimately made me laugh out loud. Episode 5 also delivered on that front imo, even though some of ONE's original gags couldn't have worked well in animated form, they largely made up for it with Matsuoka's glorious voice-acting and some improved visual gags.

That's why all things considered, I'm expecting the comedy to remain consistently good till the end of the season.
