do Japanese kids actually act out their delusions? I mean I thought about stupid shit too but that's all it was, thoughts in my head. I never acted them out or did stuff in public. Nobody did.
>>
I live in the US and plenty of kids in Jr. High did shit like this
>>
I did this, but with wrestling instead of dark fantasy, like the undertaker or stone cold or whatever
>>
>>145375584
Ausfag here, knew two blokes in highschool that did this, they actually didn't stop until graduation stopped
>>
There's this one schizo who's always at a supermarket I frequent, having imaginary arguments with imaginary people. She even tried to physically assault them a few times.
>>
>>145375584
>what is fiction
I'm sure it happens in Japan as much as anywhere else but not delusions, just presenting your interests very overtly and that's just kind of common for adolescents.
>>
>>145375584
It does happen in japan or any where else in the first world places just not as exaggerated as anime portrays it.
I used to pretend i was a swordsman with my friend in middle school and we would draw comics of our world and make up fight scenes where we would reenact with sticks. It was pretty gay.
>>
>>145375584
Hormones, anon.

They make you did a lot of weird shit you'd kill yourself over when you grow up.
>>
Dude I had kids in my highschool running around thinking they were vampires.

This is not limited to Japan
>>
I tried doing Kamehameha in shower once, well, more than once.
>>
i find it weird you find it weird kids play pretend
before the internet it's all my siblings and i did
>>
>>145376601
Playing pretend is fine, believing it's real isn't.
>>
>Nobody did
Wrong.
>>
>>145376660
>believing it's real isn't.
Guess what? The characters in the anime didn't either. Otherwise they would've done stupid shit like jump off the building or something.
>>
>>145375584
I mean if you didnt swing around a pretend sword made of darkness as a kid I don't think you had a good childhood
>>
I did
Along with a few friends up to high school
One of my friends was actually pretty handsome so it was actually the cool thing to do
One of them would roll a D20 for every action
Another had a deck of cards he was really good at throwing and doing the crazy shuffles
>>
>>145375584

fuck man, I wish I still had this kind of imagination. I'd probably be more happy.

Why do you think anime is an accurate representation of life in Japan?
>>
>>145380106
What did she do?
>>
>>145375584
Seriously if you didn't do it in around the middle school period you never lived at all. Heck I and my brother even craeted our own map of our own little world.

>Sticks
I would get those curtain rods and hammer it into shape. just used a candle or sometimes charcoal to heat it up as much as I can, still gave the same effect like that scene from lord of the rings minus the forge
>>
>>145380308
Mostly word salad love letters and fanfics he "sent" through the lifestream into her mind
>>
It's no different from young western kids pretending they're Batman (or even some adults)
>>
>>145375584
It's the same shit as playing pretend. When I was in the 7-10 age range Pokemon was pretty popular. We also got REALLY INTO cops and robbers. Chuuni is just kids who like playing pretend so much they do it beyond that age. Hell, I would have liked to, but I knew it was dorky and uncool at that point.

You either can't have fun or didn't had friends.
I used to play pretend/roleplay about SCP and stuff all the time during high school with my friends.

>>145380995
This show had the most accurate portrayal of chuuni shit. And, thus, was absolutely hilarious.

Nichijou is something different, more absurd and less slice of life. I still like vicinity nichijou more.

Obviously those faggots never had any Nichibros themselves.

Unless you were that group of weird kids, they wouldn't get it.

Playing pretend is an important element of childhood and helps develop abstract thinking. A child that doesn't play pretend is a child that is underdeveloped or risks ending up being as one.

Still doing that at home in my mid-30s.

In the public, you just play video games, read books, make some fitness or do your job.
>>
>>145375584
If you never did at any point in your life then you had a really shitty childhood. The thing is you're supposed to stop with delusions around the age of 12 or 13.

No, he's not. People with autism almost always have some sort of developmental trouble and the process of growing up can in many ways be described as becoming gradually less autistic.

>>
>>145386710
That's not how development works. Autism neither, for that matter.

Just because there are some behaviours that seem similar doesn't mean they're artifacts. For the behaviours that are, the mere fact of being developmentally delayed changes the nature of what they're adaptive for.

TL;DR: Human development isn't a social construct.
>>
>>145386959

I, embarrassingly, was one of those people.
I used to wear swimming goggles on my head in middle school and pretend I was a digidestined. Early high school, I was adamant on being a diclonius and later I wore science glasses on my head after I watched Dennou Coil. I didn't stop being an complete idiot until 11th grade when a massive depression swept over and that allowed my re-evaluate my actions. I'm still kind of eccentric but in a more laidback way.

>>145375584

You're supposed to wear pilot goggles though. And those things look fucking rad, especially on girls.

Saw a cutie wearing those in a nightclub, but it would have felt doubly awkward to talk to her, so I just watched.

The Japanese have words for everything though, unlike Americans, especially Southerners who call everything Coke.
