It's serviceable as a wiki to refresh memories of the first two games, so, if you don't have time to replay the games in hype of AA6, it should do the trick.

Some characters get, like, their moments. Especially Maya. That scene in episode 2 when Nick offers her defense is still pretty well done and one ups the game.

First one is not a bad game by any means. I thought it gradually got better and better as it got along, but never quite reached the same heights as any of the original trilogy games.

Its biggest problem was probably mess of a production: it originally was supposed to be Ema Skye's game. I think it resulted in Edgeworth literally having no reason to be there.

I don't recommend you to skip out on Investigations, I still had fun with it and it is rather needed for Investigations 2. But trust me, Investigations 2 is godly, I think it stands up right there with original trilogy.

As someone who played the games over and over, I'm mostly watching this as an addendum to them

I really like the small little character beats in this, like Maya and Mia reacting to their aunt being the culprit, Cody and Maya and Edgeworth watching the Steel Samurai, that kind of stuff

The animation and such has been better since the third case or so, too.

But to everyone just watching this: do yourself a favour and play the games, instead. In particular the last case of this game/season is a fucking hell of a ride and comes across best in game form.

What never made sense to me in the last case of JfA is how the judge was still going to pass a not-guilty to Engarde and convict Adrian despite Phoenix clearly exposing De Killer's lie by pointing how how he never even knew Adrian's gender therefore has never even met Adrian in the first place.

All common sense would dictate that this would imply Adrian isn't De Killer's client and yet the judge still was going to convict Adrian for the crime instead.

There's a few executions we know of: Joe Darke, Dahlia and Manfred.

Joe Darke was a mass murderer, so no surprise there.

Manfred killed one person in a fit of rage (not premeditated) then premeditated another murder way later with someone, got executed.

Dahlia got executed for killing Doug Swallow - she did not get convicted in 3-4, so she got sentenced to death for only one person.

On top of that, we know several characters that are just in jail - like Sahwit (not premeditated), Morgan (accomplice), Manella (accomplice, is actually released again), Rimes (accidental death, arguably manslaughter).

Obviously it's kind of murky anyway, but premeditation or multiple homicides = execution, anything less = jailtime seems to work, generally.
