Yeah, but before it was revealed he thought they were the same person. So at this moment the only thing he knows is that the sweater was given to him by Dahlia, the woman who tried to kill him to cover up her crimes.
That's a little surprising because the production values seemed pretty bad the first few episodes sans the ED. I dropped it since it looked like a by the numbers vidya to anime adaptation. Has it improved since then?
At least replaying AAI2 hasn't let me down.
It's a rollercoaster unfortunately, some episodes can have downright decent-to-good animation and then the next one portraying the same case will look like shit.
I need to replay that too, it's so fucking good.
>mfw I just got around to finishing 2-4 after Big Top turned me off to the game for a few months
You anime-only fags are in for a treat.
Or maybe not, given the track record this adaptation has so far.
I thought they did a terrible job with Turnabout Goodbyes, all the great moments from that case fell flat in the adaptation. Had a lot of QUALITY too. They did an OK adaptation of the Steel Samurai case though. From the first courthe oblue episode I think it's worth watching is 13 since it's an anime original about the class trial from Phoenix's childhood. Have yet to see the second cour
I say 2-4 was a decent adaptation, minus too early exposing to the viewer the responsible party, making Gray reveal his gun in front of Phoenix and Franziska not using the photo and anime!Phoenix just giving up on the point for his fucked up honestly.
But the breakdown was well adapted and the finale was climatic.
>think they're going to go in chronological order and adapt 2-1 next
>nope enjoy the shitty clown case for four more weeks
WHY IS THIS ANIME SO GARBAGE
THEY'VE CUT TWO CASES SO FAR AND NOW WILL HEAVILY BUTCHER OR COMPLETELY CUT ANOTHER
PROVIDED THEY'RE NOT SO LAZY THAT THEY DON'T EVEN FINISH THE TRILOGY
FUCK THIS ENTIRE PRODUCTION AND THE COMPANY BEHIND IT
Is a creepy middle-aged ventriloquist with an abusive puppet ever NOT the murderous lunatic?
OF FUCKING COURSE THEY'RE TOO LAZY TO FINISH THE FUCKING TRILOGY
THIS IS A FUCKING INSULT TO EVERY SINGLE FAN OF THE GAMES
WHAT'S NEXT? A GHOST TRICK OVA THAT CUTS OUT HALF THE GAME? A ZERO ESCAPE ANIME THAT SKIPS RIGHT TO THE SECOND GAME? WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO FUCK UP NEXT?
Did their pour their whole budget on Big Top? Production quality was almost of below average anime.
At least they pulled Cody's testimony on Ben. I hope 2 more episodes of this garbage and we'll get to the real deal.
Skipping 2-1 means that IF they were actually smart enough to adapt Trials and Tribulations, they'd have to skip 3-3 as well, since Maggey is the defendant in that case too. Or they'd have to heavily butcher it so that it's not as important to defend her, which it kind of was.
Why would you want Trials and Tribulations by A-1 at all?
It's only redeeming quality was Franziska, and they still managed to fuck her up by drawing her like a five year old when she was barely two. She shouldn't even be speaking coherently.
Can't they just introduce Maggey in the 3-3 eps?
It's serviceable as a wiki to refresh memories of the first two games, so, if you don't have time to replay the games in hype of AA6, it should do the trick.
Some characters get, like, their moments. Especially Maya. That scene in episode 2 when Nick offers her defense is still pretty well done and one ups the game.
Oldbag and Cody were majorly improved over the games, I'd say.
No. Honestly, it was wise to cut it out from the anime as it was game's gimmick.
Anime's equivalent I'd say would be the fact that some minor testimonies are being dealt with outside of the court room Ace Attorney Investigations style, it's a wise choice and they should've been doing so more often.
I wonder how they gonna handle Matt Engarde without megatama.
Especially when Phoenix started to be suspicious towards Max.
And likewise Phoenix's JfA contempt towards prosecutors is non-existing.
I'm honestly surprised you're sticking with it, but then again I can't say I know what the anime is like to someone who hasn't played the games.
I will probably know what it's like during this case though, I don't remember a thing from this circus case.
I am curious, what do you think of DL-6?
I thought a lot of emotional weight has been lifted because anime handled it by just pouring all the info about it through Grossberg via giant exposition.
It has some remixes of original soundtrack and some original tracks.
Neither are really good, but I always do get hyped whenever Allegro, Objection or Cornered play.
Let's be honest, 2-1 was a garbage case with garbage mystery and garbage villain that have nothing to do with the rest of the game. I think it was the worst tutorial case in franchise.
Cute cop returns in a much better, albeit filler case in Trials and Tribulations
Can you play AAI2 without playing the first one?
I see comments mentioning that the first game is bad but the second one is pretty good. If that is the case, can I skip the first one?
It's better if you play the first one because of some returning characters in 2 introduced in 1. And 1 isn't that bad, just generally bland. 2 is the best game in the series however.
First one is not a bad game by any means. I thought it gradually got better and better as it got along, but never quite reached the same heights as any of the original trilogy games.
Its biggest problem was probably mess of a production: it originally was supposed to be Ema Skye's game. I think it resulted in Edgeworth literally having no reason to be there.
I don't recommend you to skip out on Investigations, I still had fun with it and it is rather needed for Investigations 2. But trust me, Investigations 2 is godly, I think it stands up right there with original trilogy.
>Not wanting PhoMaya to happen
Remove yourself, animeonlyfaggot
Well whatever though, I don't feel like to give a fuck about anything related to the Phonix series anymore.
It has a fan translation.
Personally, I have a bit of problem with some of the pop culture references, but honestly it's absolutely on par with Janet Hsu and other people from Capcom's localization team and puts Nintendo Treehouse to shame.
I think all shippers share some sort of mental deficiency. They all write same kind of aggressive drivel like "I don't care about this shit show anymore, since it won't pander to me"
>Being a shipfag
Get outta here fucking normie.
>Idiots think PhoMaya not happening is the only reason I dropped this series.
It is not entertaining anymore. Both 4 and 5 sucked hard. I already read about the spoilers for 6 and it didn't impress me as well. I feel like this series is not for me anymore.
I cheered for PhoMaya and would have liked my ship from my old times to be still happen even now but I don't feel like giving a fuck about this anymore.
Storywise, pretty much. It's not as "scene-by-scene" like the first Danganronpa show. They fast-forward a lot of the investigation (like Danganronpa 1's trials) because sometimes there's a lot to fit into a mere 25 minutes.
I am. Ace Attorney 2 part was a real shift in quality I think. Music still sucks though.
Reminder that Pearly grow well.
My memory is pretty shit so maybe she pops up later on, but the only thing I remember is Phoenix talking to pearl about her first time going to a circus and what she thought of it.
>I expected it to be more endearing since it's anime
>mfw I'm desperate that it ends already
Nope there's simply no saving this case after all
Also, the anime convinced me that Nick/Maya is simply not a good ship. Maya is too much of a child for Phoenix. Their dynamic is perfect as father/daughter though.
I'm not even a lolicon but I want to fuck the shit out of this wank plank
it seems Pearl is completely removed from the case cause she was supposed to be with Phoenix and Maya from the very beginning
which makes little sense considering she's in the ED and she plays a pretty big role in the last case channeling Mia
anime!Phoenix is a different character. Twice more goody-goody, twice less crazy (that monkey scene wasn't a norm for him), completely without bluff and boast.
Maya is also more child-like in anime, though it actually works. Anime!Phoenix is fucking boring, comparing to the original.
>is it because of Moe
Pretty much + the cause of death is ridiculously improbable.
>As someone who hasn't played the games
Exactly. There's a point in the trial where he gets so flippant that YOU get a immediate Game Over if you press him at the wrong times instead of just normally getting for presenting incorrect evidence or going down an incorrect train of though. Outside of that, he's not too terrible imo.
you got it all wrong
the ringmaster wore Max's costume. When he got killed by Acro from the Max bust, the bust snagged onto the robe and pulled it up, leaving behind only the hat. Moe saw this from his window, and thought it was really max floating up because he only saw the had and robe in a shadowy appearance from the window.
>There is a reason I haven't played the games, I'm too lazy and the anime sums it up.
I'd say you'd be better off watching the game on youtube then, but that'd already be too late at this point.
As someone who played the games over and over, I'm mostly watching this as an addendum to them
I really like the small little character beats in this, like Maya and Mia reacting to their aunt being the culprit, Cody and Maya and Edgeworth watching the Steel Samurai, that kind of stuff
The animation and such has been better since the third case or so, too.
But to everyone just watching this: do yourself a favour and play the games, instead. In particular the last case of this game/season is a fucking hell of a ride and comes across best in game form.
*cute middle-aged ventriloquist
I just want to see mai husbando
Them skipping 2-1 can only mean that they're definitely not gonna do T&T.
What never made sense to me in the last case of JfA is how the judge was still going to pass a not-guilty to Engarde and convict Adrian despite Phoenix clearly exposing De Killer's lie by pointing how how he never even knew Adrian's gender therefore has never even met Adrian in the first place.
All common sense would dictate that this would imply Adrian isn't De Killer's client and yet the judge still was going to convict Adrian for the crime instead.
No fucking shit, Ghost Trick is more of a proof that Shu is not a one trick phony
Yamazaki on the other hand is still fucking with overarching plots about masterminds, when he himself perfected it in GK2. But to Yamazaki's credit, he's been working on the series since first game.
Personally, I think Danganronpa is even worse.
Danganronpa's adaptation brings absolutely nothing new to the table, while Ace Attorney has some anime exclusive content here and there.
DR3 however is perfect example how you should treat anime based on vidya.
How the fuck did Phoenix realize that Ini (Mimi) was in the chamber disguised as Maya in the game?
>Also, the anime convinced me that Nick/Maya is simply not a good ship.
it never was, even in the games, she's always treated as a companion rather than a love interest
not to mention Phoenix has an actual love interest
I just replayed 1-5 and it was fucking exhausting. I don't want to replay 2-2 just for that small detail I forgot about.
That being said I don't like how they added some shit in the anime that wasn't there in the games, like Maya's outfit for the ritual.
You need to come up with some shit that doesn't transfer from the games that well
They don't seem to be doing anything with Psyche-Locks at all, so they kind of need to work around that. They instead had the BILLY BOB JOHNS reveal be the trigger for Phoenix defending Max, which I think worked well
>So what, will Phoenix die alone?!
This obsession over this thing is kind of cute, but mostly creepy. Chill,
it's just a video game.I recommend you to ask that question about yourself because I certainly will at this rate
They don't execute all murderers, just ones that do in multiple people. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_Japan hanging bitches that only murdered one person is "extraordinary", which would imply untold viciousness and brutality like torture and shit. All she did was shiv and cap, not exactly drawn-out or particularly barbaric.
Ace Attorney is not real life Japan, they make up their own rules. The games specifically make it so that premeditated murder = death sentence. Accomplices, self-defense, and such get lesser sentences.
Hey guys check it out! A ladder.
>w-waaahh, so what if I'll never play the game! I'll just stick to this shitty anime adaptation! Don't tell me how to enjoy something!
>Instead of reading the actual source material, I'll instead stick to the flanderized adaptation instead!
You poor unfortunate soul
There's a few executions we know of: Joe Darke, Dahlia and Manfred.
Joe Darke was a mass murderer, so no surprise there.
Manfred killed one person in a fit of rage (not premeditated) then premeditated another murder way later with someone, got executed.
Dahlia got executed for killing Doug Swallow - she did not get convicted in 3-4, so she got sentenced to death for only one person.
On top of that, we know several characters that are just in jail - like Sahwit (not premeditated), Morgan (accomplice), Manella (accomplice, is actually released again), Rimes (accidental death, arguably manslaughter).
Obviously it's kind of murky anyway, but premeditation or multiple homicides = execution, anything less = jailtime seems to work, generally.
Why are almost all the parents in the series so fucking shit? Seriously, the biggest monsters are probably Morgan and her husband, Gustavia, and then there's fucking shitheads like Misty or Zak too
She made it up on the spot, since Dahlia was gonna die anyways.
the only reason she made the plan in the first place was because the police were retarded enough to put the two of them in the same fucking detention center.
Well, there's also Greg and Miles's mom that just stopped existing at some point and Phoenix's parents raised a decent son, I guess.
Misty dindu noffin, she just allowed Godot to sacrifice her for his vengeance.
Greg is cool, but Misty is a fucking bitch for leaving her preteen and teen daughters because of her shitty pride, there's no real excuse
It's telling that arguably the best parents in the series are fucking mafia
I-is he in jail or was he executed?
They've been dropping sweet references throughout though. With biggest cock tease being king of prosecutors trophy on Edgeworth's couch.
His brother was put into a coma by Regina's lion, and Acro's plan was to kill Regina as revenge. The Ringmaster however found the note that was meant to lure her and walked into the trap in her place
That's still so fucked up to me. And ruined the purpose of Acro being a likable culprit, because, I am sorry, Regina being retarded and putting his brother in a coma is awful, but this train of logic of
>This man took me and my brother in
>Raised us, fed us, gave us family
>Gave us purpose, gave us jobs
>Definitely pays for brother's bills while he is in a coma
>Doesn't abandon me even though I am dead weight
>I'm gonna whack his bitch daughter, only family he has, his legacy!
Stuff of nightmares.
>when an innocent man get accused of murdering the ringmaster, you're prepared to let him die
2-3 is fucking shit for a reason, the writing attempts to make you "like" Acro while there's zero reason to. 5-DLC did the same idea but executed it way better.
Yeah, it's... complicated. Zak's murder was at premeditated to at least some degree, but remember that that doesn't come to light until the last case of AJ, AFTER he's been convicted for what seems to be murder in a fit of rage. I don't even fucking know how he would be tried for both murders, although arguably killing two people might make him get executed already.
>making a still image a gif
>making that image a gif
Anon, I think I hate you.
I knew I shouldn't have but
That's why we must make them have sex.
Damn those were some good burgers.
>S2 for T&T gets announced
>first episode is a flashback from 2-1 so they can properly have Maggey show up later
I guess it would work well enough, they could save 3-1 for a bit later.
>why Phoenix and Maya will never become a romantic couple
Don't forget that he became paraplegia and was forced to live the life of parasite because this one girl's prank, the same girl who keep talking with smiling face about how nice for his comatose brother to "have became a star". It is jackass thing to do to his benefactor's daughter, but he wasn't in the rational condition anymore.
He clearly feel like shit about it though, and the reason he couldn't dare to confess because he fear there would be no one to would take care of his brother anymore.
none of those are remotely excuses, especially to the extent where the game tries to sympathize him
>boo hoo I feel like shit about it after I was proven to be the murderer
woah no shit
Nah there's more but I try to get more of her thighs though
>This is probably meant to be more proof that they're not making the third game.
I hope it's tease, because I really want to see the third game animated ;_;
Because original cases that were created to fit in the constraints of manga.
There really is a very clear distinction between games like Ace Attorney and Danganronpa and classic type of visual novels like Clannad and Steins;Gate. The latter actually thrives on being adapted as anime because the source material requires minimum input from players.
Former, however, relies on direct input from the player. To put it simply, too video game-y.
Case in point: Danganronpa 3.
He still has time to play Hotel Dusk/Last Window
He still wears the shirt she made for him ten years later
alternate costumes aren't exactly canon
