Most of the time shows pull the "hey look we killed them!" and then x episodes later come back with "lol just kidding". I legitimately can't think of an anime i've watched in recent years that actually had the balls to kill off a main character/semi-relevant side character.

The problem with the show is their inexplicable focus on the Tokyo pair. Canaria's death doesn't help either way because:
-She either lives via brainwashing/kidnapping and once again it's this shitty damsel in distress garbage and a rescue arc for the blandest heroine starts.
-Or she dies and suddenly gravity boy shits up the show with his endless angst and becomes even more edgy.

Literally the best course outcome this episode is that she lives but gets hospitalized or enters a coma. That way the Tokyo pair doesn't hi-jack the show with their shit and it now allows new arcs for the other MCs.

Only small part of Earth is inhabbitable now, because outside of stabilzied areas alien world litterally "invaded". There are dimension 'borders' around the human inhabbiten areas - flying into one shown bird to be telefragged, as only part of it teleported and its body shifted in multiple pieces.

Canaria got into spheric dimension shift, which teleported all materia within it to alien dimension and now MC will look for way to follow her to resque her (also she doesnt need it, since she is alien)

It's not really fun though in any way that isn't ironic unless that's what you mean. It's just kind of....bad. Unless that's the point and /a/ is doing it's whole contrarian thing now trying to prop it up because they know it's been mostly panned globe wide since it started. Like the absolute most I can say in this shows favor so far is that the cast this episode focused on is the better of the three. That's not exactly high praise. I've also noticed people also just seem to get really low standards when a show goes from it's technically worst episode to not it's technically worst.

Anyway I like how it already seems to have a new ending. Wonder just how many they are contractually obligated to do seeing as this is an Aniplex original and selling Sony artists music is always one of the pretenses of those. Certain number of insert songs per episode, that sort of thing.

The amusing character banter and the cute girls were enough for me to waste my 20 minutes on it.

But now, it seems to have potential. It's shaping up to be one of those unpredictable trainwrecks in the style of valvrave and cross ange, etc etc and I'm kinda excited as I'm big sucker for that kind of thing.

It's far from my favorite show of the season, but it's also not the worst. It's hard to defend it after that mess that was last weeks episode, but it's not terrible just generic and obviously Aniplex trying to shove in anything they can think of to make it sell besides actual effort. But I'm enjoying it, I like most of the main characters even if they're one note, and some other parts of the show aren't horrible either.

I see it as a fun ride, but with Valvrave and Cross Ange, that shit was just over the top with the dumb shit they pulled, especially in the first half of both of them. Quality Code, even though it's fucking quality, seems to be more grounded, or at least consistent.

The difference is Sunrise trainwrecks are self-aware and intentionally stupid while the creators of this show think they're making something super awesome.
