Anyone who uses this as evidence is simply new to Pokémon and has never experienced the hype leading up to a new game release.

The information released for BW and XY didn't include "You can challenge gyms/a league!" It included all the new features that were in the game. Like the Pokémon Global Link, triple and rotation battles, trainer customization, bench sitting, Poké Mon Amie, etc. And not a single person said "Woah there's no gyms this time!" simply because the news didn't state redundant information.

It's worth playing the same way every pokemon game is worth playing, as a platformer/dungeon explorer :^)

The only sane way to play any gen VI pokemon title without getting bored to shit, applying some bizarro rules like Nuzlocke, or using a romhack is to focus on filling your pokedex while playing the game, ie switching out your team members as soon as they evolve and using the GTS so having the badges actually matters and you aren't spending 50 hours walking in circles

The "beaten by a level 5 starter" thing is just a shitty meme mostly pushed by people that didn't watch that episode.

Pikachu had had its power absorbed by Zekrom and any attempts at using an electric attack completely zapped it of power. This led to it losing against a starter fresh from the lab. Zekrom then returned its power at the end of the episode and it was most likely going to play into some plotline that never happened due to the generally awful writing.

Of course, the people harping on that bit never actually include those details.

An of course, there's no such things as levels in the anime, lab starters are often portrayed as strong, and that particular starter knew a move they don't learn until level 16, so yeah.

BW is a bad series, but that particular "flaw" isn't really a flaw.
