She didn't change shit. At the end of it all, there is still an innumerable horde of Vertex outside the wall waiting to fuck Shikoku up. What Tougou succeeded in doing was creating a shitshow where all her friends not only explicitly rejected her justification of "But I'm doing it for you!" but also had to mankai a grand total of 8 times to stop her and the mess she created. She is responsible for 8 sanges, and I seriously hope she felt like absolute shit before everyone's recovery because she absolutely should. And in my heart, I hope that Fuu beat the shit out of her after the battle (and then forgave her).

Giving up hope is a character flaw for a normal person, but it's a complete failure for a hero. She wholly failed where greater girls have trod before. Gin would have loved to have the ability to mankai, even with the sange side effects. Shiratori and Tama and Anzu and all the NoWaYu crew would have loved to have that option.

Shame on Tougou. She doesn't deserve to be called a Hero, at least not with a LOT of recompense.

Serious question: given how much of her real thoughts and feelings she hides and how much of her personality and behaviour is a front, how many honest interactions with her friends has Yuna (Yuki and Takashima) actually had over the entire franchise? If most of her demeanor is a deceit meant to put people at ease and positively manipulate the atmosphere and people are responding to the demeanor rather than what's underneath, can we really say that any interaction she has is sincere? It sounds harsh but I'm not bashing her, and I don't doubt that she loves her friends, it's just really bothering me. Takashima especially gives me a weird feeling.

I believe that Yuuna, whatever she is, is benevolent and truly loves her friends. This isn't a cynical enough series for Yuuna to be some nothing personnel and openly betray everyone; after all, she did help save the world in the anime and she is fighting to save it in NoWaYu. I don't believe that any part of Yuuna's personality is a lie.

I think that the reveal will be in her origin/identity, not in her personality being fake. I would bet on her being something like a benevolent heavenly god, a benevolent Vertex-like being, something along those lines. One crazy idea I've had is that Takashima is the "original" Yuuna, and became the Shinju's definition of "hero", sort of Fate/Whatever and the Holy Grail War, and a Yuuna is summoned whenever shit goes down (then again WaSuYu contradicts this somewhat)

I believe Yuuki Yuuna is genuine, she does lies and pretend to be dumber than she is (although it is clear that she's still dumb), but just so others won't worry or feel bad for what they did or what it's happening at the moment, just like when she told Fuu in ep.1 that keeping in secret about the true purpose of the Hero Club was actually in accordance to the club's tenets and you can even see from Tougou and Fuu's reaction that Yuuna just made that bs on the spur of the moment.

But about Takashima is something else, I also have a weird feeling about her. I mean, we've been show that they are really similar physically and in personality too and also how Yuuna "reacted" to Wakaba's picture, but we shouldn't deny the possibility that this might be red herring yet or at least that they are foreshadowing for something else and many are just jumping into conclusions. I actually feel bad for putting doubt in Takashima's actions, mostly when I see her actions in the 4-koma and the manga. Then there is also the fact that, while not canon, Tougou did acknowledged that Takashima is not Yuuna she knows. So until we don't have an actual confirmation of what's the real connection between both Yuunas, I will still be a bit suspicious about Takashima.

Episode 6 is the key for you to understand how Yuuna lies. She keeps trying to make her taste loss a secret, even after Tougou discovers it.

Yuuna is a very, very good girl. In episode 4 she is shown to be thinking about how to help Itsuki out even after they have gone back home.

Also, you can clearly see her sincere emotions across the show. In episode 1 she is clearly scared for example, the lie is she saying she is not to Tougou but crying when she sees that Fuu is with them.

I've been thinking about this for some time now. What if the reason that the second Mankai of Yuuna in the last episode looks so different is because it wasn't actually Mankai at all, but instead a Trump Card, after all her gauge was at 0.

Furthermore, we do not know how powerful the Vertex were back then if compared to the current ones. I myself believe that both Yuushas and Vertex became weaker after the centuries went by.

So did something happen during the NoWaYu time period to give Shikoku a 300-year reprieve, or has there secretly been 300 years' worth of Heroes sacrificing in secret?

The Trump Cards seemed powerful because we didn't really have a point of reference; the NoWaYus are basically playing a musou while the YuYuYus are playing Monster Hunter. Tamako's Trump Card was stated to be the most powerful offensive, but it did precisely jack-shit to Scorpio (which Tougou was easily able to dispatch in Episode 2). Also remember that even between WaSuYu and YuYuYu there's a clear power difference, as Sumi and Sonoko were only able to expose a Vertex's core after receiving the fairy upgrade.

Stuff like going sanic speed and using the broken move from Persona 4 or splitting yourself into seven are powerful enhancements, yes, but they don't mean anything if the user doesn't have enough power. Even Wakaba's Hassou Tobi and Chikage's sevenfold attacks do nothing to Scorpio.

Of course, we haven't seen what Shuten-Douji can do yet.

I think the 300 year armistice is real. After all, it was Gin's death that made Taisha to shit themselves and pray to Shinju that it wouldn't allow it to happen again, and as a result, they got the shield, Mankai, Sange and the return of the fairies. It's hard for me to believe that if there were more generations of yuushas in those 300 years, none of them ever died without the use of shields.

The fan service in this show was atrocious and terribly misplaced. Just like everything else in the show.

Fuu and Tougou were doing what Shinju wanted. Attack the Taisha for attempting to usurp his powers, keeping the Yuusha from communicating with him and with Sonoko and taking Sonoko's phone from her.

Yuuna was going to stop them so he stopped her from transforming either until the moment was passed OR she may have just transformed by herself, like she later mankai'd on an empty gauge.
But Shinju could have stopped either Tougou or Fuu anytime by pulling the plug on their power. He didn't. He was punishing the Taisha- and by extention the population who followed them without questioning. If the last remnants of humanity died because of this, well its their fault. He had had enough.

Magical Girls of the earlier days were extremely brute. In some episodes Sally was basically Son Goku tier in her understanding of how mankind worked. And any bully that tried to bother the girls was basically in for the ride of his life.

But Majokko Tickle, despite being propelled by idols and all, flopped. Business people saw the fault of that on the dynamics between the girls and others, which funny enough, was far closer to today's style than anything else. Tickle was pretty bad, but had it succeeded we would have had basically the current yuribait pairs and no boys allowed back in the fucking 70s.

Then LunLun and Creamy Mami made everything softer than Tougou's megalopolis.

Madoka has completely forgotten about Homura
Homura rejects friendship
Homura states that she and Madoka may become enemies, but she'll continue to fight for Madoka's happiness

Its not that the Taisha were hurting the Yuusha that pissed off Shinjuu.
The Taisha were putting their own judgement about how to handle the Yusha above Shinjuu's. That's what pissed him off. And taking Sonoko's phone away (and perhaps taking the other girls phones away during their down time as well) was the straw that broke the camels back. Those were gifts from Shinjuu to the girls, they didn't belong to the Taisha to take give and take away as they wished.
