How can people watch currently airing shows? I've just watched up until episode 18 of Re Zero in the past couple of days and suddenly I'm hitting this brick wall where I can't watch any more, and it's literal weeks between episodes. It breaks immersion and flow so badly. Why do people bother watching like this?
>>
People watch airing shows to talk about them with their anonymous friends on the internet.
>>
nobody enjoys waiting for the next episode to come out.

but nobody enjoys waiting for a good series to finish airing before watching either.
>>
>>145128584

This is a fairly recent issue, seeing as how online libraries, streaming services, and so on and so forth give us entire series to "binge watch" more often these days than even ten years ago.

I don't have an answer for you. You broke yourself by getting used to such a behavior. The rest of us get along just fine.

You just watch other shit, fill the void with a non airing show. I prefer to marathon shows but it does help watching them weekly.

I feel invested in this story and watching something else in the meanwhile is going to take me out of it to some degree though it's inevitable since there's another 2 months or something
>>
>>145128584
Is this what you do all the time?
When you finish watching the first episode and you like it, every week is just more hype on what the next one is going to be like. You get into the rythm of waiting and hyping.
If you are getting impatient after binge watching, there's 2 reasons:
1) you are an impatient faggot, but that can be fixed over time
2) you don't actually like the show and just want to quickly get on with it see how it ends
In case 2, I suggest you just drop it; you shouldn't feel obliged to watch something every season.
>>
>>145128584
Because people with work find it easier to watch 2-3 episodes a day, then marathon 12 episodes.
Some of us don't even have a day off.
>>
>>145128896
I'd equate it to any other form of entertainment/ media. When I go see a movie, I watch it in one sitting. When I get a book, I can read as much as I want whenever I want. I can play a game and not have to wait until next week for the next section.

It's about going at my own pace. You talk about hyping things, but that's not how I see it at all. I'm interested in the story. It's escapism. I'm not interested in going on message boards to read about how other people feel about it where extremes on both ends of the spectrum exist. That's not why I'm watching, unless the show lends itself particularly well to discussion.

Interesting to see how other people derive utility from anime/ media, though.

2-3 episodes a day is not 1 episode a week

I meant 2-3 episodes of different shows.

>How can people watch currently airing shows?
I'm watching 6 at once so that there's always something to look forward to. Shame they basically all air over a 3-4 day span.

Honestly the real reason is that I've run out of non-seasonal things that look interesting enough for me to want to watch. The few 'classics' I have left never really drew me in when I gave them a chance.

Not if you were watching it weekly from the start. Also, weekly wait doesn't break immersion, it builds anticipation.

Keep yourself busy.

You're not a true anime fan and you basically just outed yourself.
>>
>>145128667
>This is a fairly recent issue
Not really. Or do you think people got fansubbed series delivered to them every week in VHS format?
>>
The week wait is literally how it's intended to be viewed.
You get time to digest the episode, to absorb its impact and meaning. Good anime are ones you think about after the episode is over, while you're washing up, or exercising or whatnot. That process of thinking about it helps concrete the show and makes it more meaningful.
>>
>>145128584
Are you retarded. That's how they were MEANT to be watched. That's literally how they were written. You think cliffhangers happen by accident? You're SUPPOSED to anticipate the next episode, talk among your friends, debate on what's going to happen. That's half the fun. God, people these days don't even have the pacience to wait for water to boil.

The facts are if you're that bored there are thousands of other anime to watch while you wait and a lot of them are better than the one OP is currently watching. How hard is it to keep yourself busy. Does everybody need to be spoon fed now?

Because not everybody is a NEET that stays at home everyday bingewatching anime. Also, some people like to discuss ongoing shows and the wait, even if frustrating, makes you enjoy the chapters/episodes more and think about them if you really like the anime/manga. Subscribed to your blog.

>>145130675
I don't do that and I bet you don't as well. I do however listen to anime while I work. I've heard tons of anime this way. I've probably listened to Lucky Star around 5-6 times. Don't worry though I do actually watch the anime at home as well as at work so I'm not missing out on the animation. It's just nice to listen to old anime I've watched before while I'm doing my stupid job. Squid girl is a good one to listen to as well as Heavens Lost Property.

the trick is to watch so many shows that you always have a new episode nagging you to watch it
that way you can turn anime in to one of the primary stress components in your life
>>
>>145128584
That's the point of anime Openings. They bring you back into the show and reframe your mindset to be prepared for what you're going to see while reminding you of what's already happened.

Because it's entertainment and most people don't take anime like a drug. You've got your backlog and hopefully other hobbies so get to those instead.
>>
How can you shitpost when you don't watch airing anime then OP? Your threads wouldn't garner that much attention if it's already done airing.
>>
>>145128584
I legitimately don't know why someone would watch an anime that has already aired unless it's a masterpiece, which is rare in this medium. If you're going to watch something like mayoiga (a train wreck meme show) there's no reason to watch it after the season ended. All of the fun from the show comes from "discussing" it on a weekly basis. If you made a thread now on mayoiga, people would just tell you to fuck off with your shit.

It's like going on /tv/ and asking about a detective show that aired years ago. No one will care about it or want to discuss it with you, but go make a the walking dead thread and prepare for the "discussion"

What is the point of enjoying something if you have no one to share your thoughts and opinions on it with? No one will care about Re:Zero in a year. It's an edge fest that relies on shock value and waifubait to keep the audience paying attention. Watch it now and you can "discuss" it now. Watch it later and talk to your mirror about how fun it was. Your choice.
>>
>>145132860
You all seem quite obsessed with discussion. I'm on /a/ so I understand it to a degree, but I feel like you're watching in order to have something to talk about rather than to actually enjoy watching the show itself.
>>
>>145132860
Mayoiga threads were crossboarding cancer and if you posted there you should kill yourself.
>>
>>145130594
I've been here 7 years and have only gotten legitimately spoiled once like last year with rokka no yuusha.
Fuck off with that.

If you participate in the weekly threads it's impossible not to get spoilered.
>>
>>145128584
curb your autism. you don't need to watch everything in one sitting. how about going outside and getting some fresh air for once? holy shit
>>
>>145128751
You can be invested in multiple things at once. If you like a lot of things, the wait for each thing to start again or update is much more tolerable.
>>
>>145133006
If a show is an adaptation and gets at the very least occasional threads, it's almost guaranteed that spoilers will be posted in them, usually without tags. The only way to completely avoid spoilers is to just not read the threads at all, which kinda ruins the whole discussion thing.

Sometimes you even get people putting spoilers in the OP so you get spoiled just by looking at the catalog. You kinda just get used to having a vague idea what's going to happen
>>
>>145128584
You watch the released episodes over and over to fill in the void of waiting for more, that saves /a/ the trouble of answering your retarded questons about explained plotpoints.
>>
>>145130594
Don't go to the threads if it's not an original.

This.

Even when watching finished shows I tend to do it more or less weekly, a bit more if I'm really hooked. I find they leave a more lasting impression that way.
