Reinhard falls in love with Yang.

Unable to confess, the Kaiserin is gifted by a Norse God ex machina with the Alliance commander's phone number. Never minding the strange planet code, she immediately calls him, and is overjoyed to find out that he has a crush on her as well.

But, the next day, when the shoene Kaiserin recounts the previous day's confessions to the Miracle Yang, he only looks at her with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, she finds out that the Alliance commander she called is not the same officer she fell in love with. In fact, he doesn't exist in this universe at all. He is the alternate universe counterpart of her crush, who has fallen in love with her AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.

Hijinks ensue as they strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip each other with the weapons they need to conquer the universe and the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of FOPPERY AND WHIM.

LoGH is a masterpiece. The sheer amount of characters and breadth of the story is amazing. I've never seen a series of the same scope, neither in anime nor in Western TV shows. It is also aesthetically well-made thanks to the cool ship and uniform designs and the great use of classical music.

I watched it two times over and am currently in the process of rewriting the crappy old CA subtitles to give it a better translation.

Except that's a highly misleading description of the situation and makes your point invalid. There was nothing they could actually do. Many of them had decent tactical skills, but only very few of them had any real combat experience. The vast majority of their forces were completely untrained militia, which was both stated and clearly shown. Without Zero, the rebels didn't have any wild cards to play once they were overwhelmed by the arriving enemy reinforcements. The show had never established that any of them could overcome such odds on their own.

Most of the people he was fighting were nobles who only had the positions they did through nepotism, but the few who actually had some ability like Fahrenheit, Merkatz, and Ovlesser all put up a good fight.

I should clarify that I was specifically talking about the other leaders of the Black Rebellion in my post and not the rank-and-file. None of the other leaders demonstrate adequate commanding ability, not even the ones who have accomplishments and reputations that suggest they should.

The enemy reinforcement army led by Schneizel hadn't arrived at the instant in the show where you know the Rebellion is going to lose. Do you remember how the scene played out? Despite the fact that, at this point, Dalton is dead and Cornelia is incapacitated, they've stalemated and are starting to be pushed back despite the battlefield situation actually being more favorable to them than it previously was. The only difference from earlier is that Lelouch was not present and (apparently) using Battle Meditation for them.
