She feels like Touma is unreachable considering the scale of what he deals with all the time and she can't handle it. Saints, magic gods, etc. The antagonist of this arc was seconds away from killing him and Mikoto uses a suit/mecha called the AAA to stop her. She's always sort of ignored and brushed off magic to this point but it's a part of the system (although she doesn't directly use magic) and it fucks with her mind, forcing her to become aware that there is a world outside of science.

She also starts going on about some nonsense about stars and shit, so she's becoming a bit nutty. More so than she was already, at least.
