I know someone who encodes all his moviesfrom Blu Ray and puts them on his own network server. He doesn't say outright what movies and stuff but there's enough context clues to assume he's got anime on there.

Yes. I have it set to automatically download new releases as it comes out via RSS which I can watch immediately when I arrive home. It's pretty fun.
