Use a belt. Stick the end through the buckle to form a loop and then wedge the end in the top of a door frame. Keep in mind that you don't need to be hanging off the ground. Look up "partial suspension" hangings. They're very effective.

I'm not sure if it's necessary causation. You could say that a series that's more likely to get scanlated is more likely to get licensed because of the same factor: that they appeal to more people than the obscure stuff. It doesn't necessarily mean that scanlation has anything directly to do with a series getting picked up for official translation.

You invest yourself into scanlating because of some manga you love first and suddenly, instead of doing the one manga you needed too, you find yourself working on several ones which you think are "alright". You waste hours of your time (no matter which position it is you're constributing as) instead of hanging out with your friends or doing something for college/work. No one will read your credit page. No one will know that you did step X. No one will care at all. So you changing from doing something you love to doing regulary garbage, hurts yourself and no one else. Do no waste your youth like that. Live. If you stop doing it, people will ask when the next chapter is coming out as they should and not try to help you out on their own.
