The romance certainly lacked development. After the time-skip story seemed to go in some kind of Rin x Kouki shoujo drama direction, only to get taken over by this whole "crush on Daikichi" thing. Milf suddenly lost relevance in an underwhelming way despite quite a lot of build-up, and Daikichi's romantic feelings for Rin were left completely untouched. He just went form "hell no" to "lol, k" in one chapter, while he was the character who should get the most development in that scenario.

Seriously, even at the very end they didn't look like a couple at all, I couldn't imagine Daikichi kissing or having sex with Rin. It would be much more natural if he started to have some not completely pure thoughts about her after the time-skip.
