It's a genuinely decent zombie survival story with characters I like and survival situations that are interesting. I even like the cult teacher as a character even though I simultaneously hate his guts. For a genre that had gotten overused, it was nice to read/watch HOTD.

I wouldn't say she was the most developed, it seems like Rei still got the most screen time and the whole focus of the story has been to find her parents.
I thought Saeko was pretty interesting considering she was trying to hide her sadistic side behind an ideal facade and she finally learns to accept her bloodlust, can't think of many other girls like this.

Her one line was what made me realize Yen Press sucked. They translated it as "I'm drenched!" With them releasing so much TOKYOPOP stuff (except what Dark Horse got), I've been directing people towards older prints, despite not buying English translations myself.

Back on topic, I guess Rei got a lot of focus, and she feels like she has a more distinct personality, but there aren't any major traits I could apply to her. HOTD feels a lot like a long-runninh shonen where the characters get development at regular intervals rather than in a cohesive story.
I want the hiatus to end.

Enjoyed the manga, really disliked the anime for the stupidly over the top way it handled the action and fanservice. You already have a porn artist drawing the series, you don't need characters flying around or slow motion shots of tits dodging around bullets.
