The first phase of the WN was all dungeon crawling though, and that's what hooked me. You could have different elemental dungeons, different bosses, more skills/powerups, hidden/ancient loot, etc. The author probably got tired of that though and wanted to connect to Shun's story since it was obviously the main plot point though (honestly everything Shiro does before she leaves the labyrinth is unimportant now aside from her making her name).

The world being messed up doesn't have anything to do with D's system. The world originally got fucked over because elves created magitech that took power directly from the MA field and thus fucked with the balance of the world. Kuro and Sariel allegedly wrecked most of that shit and set back the elves WAAAAAY back on a technological level, but since the world was already in danger they asked D to fix shit and that's where the System came in. The system itself is supposed to create a net increase of energy in the MA field by stripping the souls of humans of all their accumulated skills upon death and put on restrictions to prevent elves or anyone else from relearning how shit works outside of the system well enough to repeat the magitech bullshit.
The issue is that the System only really fixes shit over time unless a shitload of people die at once, so when Potimas tricked the Hero and Demon King to try and attack D, the MA field had yet to be restored, so now with the massive loss of energy because of that attack and the leak in the MA field, the System can't provide enough energy to offset the continuous decrease of energy.
A nice big war would have stabilized things a long-ass time ago, but since Sariel is a moralfag and Kuro is her bitchboy, he never went through with it and ended up dooming the world through inaction.

The regular dying of that happens in the world is simply not enough to stabilize the system though. To make it last longer, they incited war, and Shiro's plan is to outright collapse the system, but that would result in the death of people with a high number of skills, who now rely on the system.

Well, most of them are some sort of power fantasies that live on the concept of "wouldn't it be cool if THIS happened?", other have grinding or abusing RPG-like system in every possible way, which is something that resonates deeply with the kind of people who enjoy that kind of thing. Some actually have interesting plots and characters. The large majority IS trash, so all in all it boils down to what kind of stomach you have for fiction. It depends.

The current wave of stories can happen, because web novels are not really regulated by an editor. An amateur author writes something that they want to write, no matter how controversial or offensive, and post it online without fear of a publisher rejecting it.

I know that in the US, publishers are not likely to pick up a web novel that has already been posted online, even with some changes to the story.

Japan had something weird happen though. Dengeki gave a specific web novel, that had a decent online following, a chance at becoming a Light Novel, and it exploded in popularity, and became an anime. Light Novel publishers see that success, and want to reproduce it. Light Novels have always been pretty hit or miss anyways, but now they have a testing ground before they actually push it onto shelves.

So, can we in the west reproduce this effect here? Well, do you really want to?
We have a lot of systems that make self-publishing easy—even risk free (if you don't count the time spent writing as part of the "risk"). People have actually tried to publish their own works through Amazon and other platforms, with varying success.
You CAN go ahead and publish your D&D-inspired fiction if you'd like. But you'll need to do your own marketing if you want it to get at all popular.

Just think about Narnia, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc. Some day I was bored and had to spend time in a book store, I wandered into the teens/young adult section, and there were tons of books about going to fantasy worlds and doing stuff, many of which were part of long series. Sure, I hadn't heard about most of the authors, but if they made it to standard publishing, there was a market. But that doesn't mean people will necessarily read or buy your story, if it's shit.

I really like the system, the MC get point to spend setting jobs in set, what i really like is that it has that OP feeling but is also balanced, the MC can make a OP fighter build but if he find something with complete physical desistence, like a slime, then he's fucked.
Pity that the author don't knows how to write dialogues and is incredibly repetitive.

I'd also like to see more dungeon/labyrinth diving because I'm getting sick of the MCs just spending all their time dicking about in a town.

The world has labyrinths filled with monsters. Monsters that die often drop items. Certain item drops are like skill cards.
Someone with a "Master Blacksmith" job can use his magic to bind these skill cards to an item.

But only certain items have a Skill Slot, but only the MC can see them, so most of the time, the Skill Card and Item just turn to dust, and everyone attributes it to sheer luck.
