How would you feel if Mirai-hen is essentially despairs (Monaca or someone else) SDR2-ing the Future Foundation? For the sake of making the picture clearer, see FF as the most important remnants of hope.

So they are in fact in a computer program. However, everyone who dies in the program is also in a coma they will likely not wake from.

By the end, most of the characters, maybe all of them, "die" in Mirai-hen. The living survivors of DR1 and the living, waking, survivors of SDR2/UDG come together to beat the last of the despairs who are running the killing game.

The show and the series ends with most of the important Mirai-hen characters in a coma (certainly Naegi and Munakata), and the SDR2 remnants still in comas. Morally grey characters, or characters who've experienced hope and despair and find themselves in a normal, middle-ground, like Hinata, Togami, etc take the reins of the new world. There's no longer Ultimate Hope but there's also no longer Ultimate Despair, and without those single-minded concepts in the way, society can truly move forward. People are multifaceted, and no one adheres or can be asked to choose one or the other anyway.

Still way too many questions around the whole thing but it's possible I guess
to an extent, even factoring in hindsight Hajime did atleast enter into some shady shit here and it doesn't feel right to try and remove all the blame away (pretty sure we're not supposed to either). She's the ultimate martial artist. It makes perfect sense for her her to be huge and ripped as fuck. I'd be rolling my eyes and calling it a bad design if she had an Akane-like body-type.

On top of that, her design is simple while looking good(just a regular schoolgirl uniform and bandages, the most outlandish part is her hair) and the samurai motief perfectly fits her archaic way of speaking and code of honor. Sakura's design is top tier.

Can someone explain Naegi's luck to me? From the short story, it comes across as just really bad luck, but it rarely seems to pop up much. Especially compared to Komaeda who has extreme bouts of good and bad fairly frequently.

There're two video games that the two animes are working off of, Danganronpa and Danganronpa 2. You prooobably won't be able to enjoy the anime at all without playing those games, the production is questionable and Despair Arc at least is completely situated in previous material.

There's a spin-off game and some extra material like manga and light novels as well, but those might not end up being important.

At the absolute minimum, play the second game. It's on Steam. You might actually be able to get away with skipping the first game and everything else because the second game does some recap, but I'd still recommend both main titles.

Anyone see Deadpool here? Hajime is pretty much Wade but with the results for him bring worse.
