Because it's like regular clones and transformation in Naruto. Realistically EVERYONE knows it because it's one of the first things you learn while you become a soldier.
But then the writer got lazy and only wanted to write around people using their one specific unique powers so those abilities get largely dropped completely until the unique powers don't cover enough bases.
>Naruto can't get away? He uses transformation for the first time in like 4 years and it works on one of the most powerful ninja ever.

This is what happens when you make characters that effectively ignore space. Range doesn't matter so a ranged attack doesn't make sense.
Also, the huge casting chant is pretty much made retarded when anybody can close on you instantly. Now pretty cool would have been a character doing the chant while fighting, that would have been boss. But Kubo a hack, we can't have nice things.

What are the successes of kido?
1) Aizen one-shotting Komamura.
2) Hachi killing Death with death.
3) Byakuya trolling that one Espada.

Every other time it fails, including quite a lot of failures for Hachi before he got the lolwut victory.

You can't use chants in an actual combat situation. Unless you're fighting a retard or have largely won the fight already by virtue of hobbling your opponent enough that you can get away with going blah blah blah while standing in one spot for a good minute or more.

I sort of did, but that actually supports Kubo actively underplaying Kido. The only reason it worked is because Urahara was subtle about it, and nobody knew it had been done until the very end when it got activated. You can't make Kido into a prominent feature when it has to be used subtly and hidden amongst other complex actions. And while doing that is cool, there's a limit to how many times you can put that into the plot before it gets overdone.

I'm not sure if it matters how strong the incantation is against Danku but then Lt. Aizen was able to block Tessai's #88 spell. I'm not sure how good Aizen was 100+ years before the series began in terms of mastering shinigami arts but if Tessai's kido was rendered useless, it just kind of goes to show that being a powerhouse is more important than mastering kido. Same goes for Dangai Ichigo shattering Aizen's fully incanted black coffin spell.

And as others have said, Kido Corps has never been relevant.

Yeah, well his kido is only so OPed because of his Reiatsu that chant thing was a joke. Kido can be used effectively by some Shinigami but most rely solely on their shikai/bankai.

Back from the end of the SS arc I've always had the idea that Aizen is actually chanting all of these badass kido attacks, but using his mezmer thing to make everyone think he isn't. Considering he has the ability to distract people better than anyone, would it not make sense that he's the most ideal kido user in that he has all the time in the world to set up for an attack with it?

The thing about kidou is that the higher the kidou level, three more powerful it is and the harder it is too master. Did you not realized why Aizen always use high level kidou spells, like those of around 80 - 99? This alone proves what he is capable of
