Have you ever thought about creating your own anime or manga?
and i hate every single one of you
>>144494058
Yeah, I've got a project in the works.
>>144495948
same here
>>144495976
dude, me too
>>144494058
yeah
thankfully I will never produce anything, I would hate to be that kind of weeb Ninja Slayer ridiculed so mercilessly
http://vidya.imode.jp
ayyyyye
>>144496018
wow, so do I
Why create new content for anime when I have books and manga to create it for me? The stuff prints money on it's own! Fuck creativity!
I had a really ambitious mixed-media IP planned, but the people I paid to shill for it turned on me
Then all ten of my dads died at once
>>144494058
I used to when I was younger.
Now I think, I'd rather try to write books emulating the light novel style. If I decide to publish them they'll probably fail though - Westernshits want their sex and violence even if it's YA.
>>144494058
I'm not that autistic.
>>144494058
Honestly, no. CGDCT is the only genre that really matters, and the Japs are already masters of that, so it would be best to just leave it to them.
>>144494058
Just write a LN instead and there's a pretty good chance someone'll make it an anime for you
When I was like 15, yeah.
After reading/watching Bakuman I learned that the mangaka life is pure hell and felt bad for those who try to aim for that dream.

A more 'western' anime (i.e. an animated series aimed at teens/adults which is devoid of the more obnoxious anime tropes, which has strong directing, a more or less realistic art-style, three-dimensional characters and tells an interesting, well-structured, multi-layered story) would be fun. Sadly, it most likely won't happen in our lifetimes, due to the prejudice that 'cartoons are for kids' or 'cartoons are for mindless comedy' which shoehorns animation into boring niches like Disney and Adult Swim and forces it to stagnate as an art - in Murrica, at least. Euro animation has/had more hope, for instance French one, but still stagnates due to yuropoorness and general shit situation in Euro TV-industry. Perhaps, there might be some hope in the future, in the age when cinema fully merges with CGI (which becomes cheaper, faster and easier to produce as software and tech develop) and real actors are finally obsoleted (Because really, who wants these budget-draining, glorified whores? If famous, they just distract from the story and bring a lot of redundant connotations to the character's portrayal). Then the distinction between animation, cinema and TV will become meaningless: all cinema and TV will be essentially animation, so animation becomes more diverse and is aimed at wider audiences. But we must not forget that by that point in time non-interactive storytelling might be obsoleted as well, so this new animation/cinema wil also be a videogame/interactive movie.

And why do you have a problem with sex and violence? Are you a squeamish prude or something? Are your books aimed at children?
If not, then these things are not to be shied away from, they are part of life. And that does not mean you have to write porn or gore. You can describe even the most lewd and violent stuff gracefully and non-explicitly, if you are a good writer.
Yeah, when I was a kid I thought of an harem series where each girl represented a cardinal sin

tl; dr
You can't really create 'anime' if you are a Westerner, and even if you create something similar, it will find no audience in the West. Neither it will find audience in Japan, because it's too alien for them, and anyway, they will automatically assume that their people are better at anime than some random baka gaijin, so very few will even bother with your work.
>>144498564
Because I don't want to write about sex and violence.
>>144498665
Too late. It already exists.
>>144498750
RWBY would like to have a word with you.

>RWBY
>RWBY (pronounced "ruby") is an American 3D anime-influenced animated web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth Productions.[1][2]
>Oum was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1981.[8] According to Oum, he was "Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese.
Does he look like a Westerner to you? The fact that he is an Amierican Asian is irrelevant. Still an Asian. Probably that's why the company picked his series up and why it gained popularity in Japan. If he was your average White Joe, everyone would just laugh at him and call him a weeb autist.
So still no hope for White animators - better kys and hope for respawn as an azn.
I feel like if Japan got some foreign writers/directors the anime industry would increase in quality tenfold
>>144494058
I'd like to release an LN I've been planning out and drafting at some point, but I'd have someone translate it into Japanese first and release it under some pseudonym so people don't think it's shitty imitation western LN shit.
Then when it gets popular and an anime is produced I can just release the original versions in English and shitty weebs can complain about the horrible translation
>>144499467
Think again.
I can't draw, so no.
Yes, my idea was exactly the same as Aldnoah Zero, at least I know my idea was not that good now
>>144499541
>release it under some pseudonym so people don't think it's shitty imitation western LN shit.
10/10 plan. Rooting for you, master ruseman.
>>144499541
At this point LNs are so fucking badly written it's fully possible for you to do it.
>>144499467
Producers/studio execs are always the real evil and the real culprits though, and they are shit both in Japan and in the West: everywhere they onyl cater to the lowest comman denominator now and don't want to take any risks. So anime will just become pleb Western shows like GoT, but animated.
nihongo ja nai
>>144498564
What the fuck is your definition of "western"?
>>144496263
woah that's crazy, can I turn your story into an anime?
yes
but it'd just be a generic fantasy based on experience in my d20 universeand many aspects from other anime and other mediums are blatantly used
>>144494108
sauce?
>>144494058
Sometimes yeh. I have a writer friend and I can draw, but it's not something we really strive towards. If we ever get off our asses and actually do something, it'll be more of a hobby midst work n college n shit
>>144494058
Yeah, some comedic original content without the typical 'western' flaws associated with such content.
*cough* megatokyo
*cough* dominic deegan
*cough* Ctrl+Alt+Del
No personal shit other than the comedy I can derive from this hilariously shite world full of talking apes.
In the spoilered image my shite art.
>>144500074
Only if you call it something like "Demon's Legend"
>>144501211
That's not a good LN name.
>My sister is a demon lord and I tripped and kissed her while carrying a bunch of buttered toast which got stuck to her big chest
This is a good LN name.
/a/ has made multiple anime already.
You mean a comic with manga style?
It cant be a manga or anime if it's not produced in Japan.
>>144501809
>2016
>not living in japan
>>144494058
I have i'm not telling you op.
>>144498938
>Lust
Aw yiss best girl had to be luist
>>144494058
I wrote a LN once when I was 8, but the publishers told me the writing wasn't simple enough.
>>144502613
Nice joke. Very original.
>>144502659
>Very original.
Yes, that was another problem as well.
I'va always wondered what would happen if a westerner tried luck with Sueisha, Kodansha, etc?
He would atleast need to have some God tier drawing skills, right?
Plus being extremely fluent with Japanese, spoken and written
I wonder if it can be done
>>144494058
Yes, and I have big plans on making them real, and teach Japan how TRUE anime and mangas should be maded. And start destroying every little neet that thinks hating on anybody who decided to start a family is fine.YOu think I was joking, but it's truth. I'm not gonna let the japanese people do whathever they want
>>144502847
That westerner would have to be half-japanese at least. They are racist fucks.
>>144503071
Like the no game no life creator?
>>144502929
You should join forces with >>144499541
perhaps
I draw a comic that I basically (try to) draw as if it was being published in a manga magazine (so b&w, released in chapters of ~12-24 pages etc), though I try to avoid doing stupid weeaboo shit like making it read from R->L and having everyone act and look like stereotypical "anime" characters and shit. It's nothing special for the time being, but I'm probably not going to stop making comics until I either die or I physically cannot draw (like if I go blind or lose function in my limbs or something like that). My life goal is to make something great that can be enjoyed by people decades into the future, if that says anything.
I've considered that it might be something interesting to go to japan and try to publish something in a big magazine despite being a white dude, but it'll be a long time before I'm good enough and can afford to do something like that, plus learning japanese is a serious investment that probably won't pay off at all for what I want to learn it for, and any serious attempt to learn it would cut into the time I need to spend drawing.
>>144494058
If a westerner creates it, it's not an anime or manga. It's a cartoon or comic/graphic novel.
>>144494058
Yes, slice-of-life 4koma manga in realistic 80s East European setting. My drawing sucks though, so I just come up with possible storylines. I wonder how much would it cost to hire a Japanese mangaka to draw that for me?
>>144498564
>But we must not forget that by that point in time non-interactive storytelling might be obsoleted as well, so this new animation/cinema wil also be a videogame/interactive movie.
This is where you're completely wrong. Automated entertainment will never die, some people just want to lay down and watch a movie or whatever. Picking up a controller or having to interact with you entertainment is tiresome after a while.
>>144498938
>RWBY
>>144502847
There's a completely 100% American head animator living and working in Japan who made comments about DBS episode 5's animation last year, he's apparently pretty famous there.
>>144504924
Just draw yourself, anon. Anyone can learn.
Just give yourself a few years of solid practice before you jump into drawing your comic, or the early stuff will be extremely difficult for you to look back at.
>>144496065
Same! I call itidea guy: never gonna happen.
