Did he save the show, /a/?
What the fuck did I just watch? Really what the fuck?
I wonder when they will show his back-story.
Backstories don't make a villain good. What makes Betelgeuse stand out is that he has a goal, not evil for the sake of evil, he follows the nature of his sin, he will do whatever he can to win, he follows his own beliefs of love and diligence and acknowledge others in the process. Even if he's considered evil, he still shows some sense of remorse.
>Subaru fighting the White Whale, losing Rem and searching a way to bring her back gives Subaru another huge army
Well, the weird save placements when all that could have been avoided make sense now
I want to hear the Love Story of the Sword Demon.
No, he just goes nuclear and freezes half the country in every loop where Emilia dies. She could ask him to do it if she wanted to, she even mentioned it in episode 3 calling it her "trump card" that will leave only her standing.
>want to fuck up a country and destabilize global political situation
>kill some random elf slut
>everyone gets frozen to death
No. He just kicked it into high gear.
you've seen him use water magic and shoot crystals with ice like properties, it's not that unbelievable
it's also said in a previous episode that emilia isn't a full magic user, but one that borrows mana from a spirit. seems like she could go nuclear by drawing power from puck's presumably huge mana pool
>Lock him up in Witch Cult rape dungeon in the middle of nowhere, straitjacket and regular feeding to make sure he doesn't die
>Wait for Puck to destroy half the country
>Reinhardt kills Puck
>Country is done, you win gg.
How the fuck am i supposed to know this?
True, true. Also it was mid day when he got to the manor so puck would have been still awake. But is he doing it just to protect emilia? Couldn't he just freeze an entire room instead of half a country? And what about the flying beast from the next episode?
It could be like Puck one day decided to freeze/destroy the world for shits and giggles but accidentally stumbles upon Emilia. Something happened that causes him to make a contract with her
(Probably finding Emilia in the fores sulking and/ort trying to practice using magic.).
I can't wait to see what this fucker does in the next episode.
>gouging a child's eyes out
Jesus fucking Christ.
This chuunibyou was really the only thing that saved this comedy show.
I really like this scene. It's deliberately set up to make it as though the series could've ended there. This is to convey to the watcher how Subaru felt when he is faced with death, "Is this my last loop?" mirrors the audience's reaction of "Does it end just like that?" This is also, I think, the reason Subaru tends to die at the end of the episode as opposed to the middle or the beginning of one.
First novel is literally only the first 3 episodes. Novels 2-3 cover episodes 4-11, but they only come out in November and May. Enjoy your long, long wait because Yen Press is being slow as shit.
>after 16 episodes, only 1 girl is romantically interested in MC
>main heroine is dense as fuck
>all other girls are either bitches or taken by someone else
This isn't like my cheesy harem LNs.
I like it.
Would you watch an anime with that guy and Denkibou from samurai champloo as main characters?
>67% of season 1 has passed
>MC is still the weakest guy in the entire country
>This shows no signs of changing
If there is no season 2,3 and 4 everyone is gonna give it a bad rating because so little of the overall plot has happened in so many episodes.
For the purpose of the alternate path non-canon storyline she doesn't, but it is extremely likely she would if the plot wasn't plot-armoured.
That or she'd let him live his life, when he dies of old age, he reverts.
>adapt 3 books in 11 episodes (technically 12 considering episode 1's length)
>adapt the next 6 books in 14 episodes
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG??
>Overlord curaazy villain girl was better
>power fantasy trash
He's just balancing it out since he acts the same as Subaru with his incessant LAWL SO RANDUM EMILIA-TAAAAAN spergout fits interspersed between suddenly actually dropping the act for a few minutes to go into serious mode.
>That slight heart attack when he respawns at the Appa-vendor
and you allmost think it was the beginning
Priscilla is litterally Nero, so Saber.
And here I thought nothing could top the Terra Formars anime censoring
Is there only 1 volume of the LN or WN that's translated yet?
It's impressive how much graphic violence this show was able to get away with on Japanese TV with only slightly darkened out filters instead of the usual black/white screens.
>Just First three episodes
>The translations will most likely stop after the show's done and the novels will come out every 6 months
All you do is want and ask. Are you a pig?
>Emilia gets 250 entries on Danbooru
>Rem gets 783 entries
Japs agree, Rem is best girl and author is a faggot.
Gilles' retarded cousin is pretty cool but too hyperactive and exaggerated, he is not intimidating but funny as fuck.
I think he's a bit much, but at least it's not just the bitches being unhinged monsters and being stupidly overpowered and followed implicitly
I was just constantly rolling my eyes during candidate selection
Emilia is the correct choice.
this show is really boring and slow paced and the characters are uninteresting.
the only interesting parts of the show are when he dies and has to figure out what to do differently.
how did you people persevere so long without dropping it?
Reminder that this is the Beast of Armageddon
I'm really sorry for shitposting, but those digits just can't go unchecked
please could you add that effect to this one?
What does the magic nigger do to him?
obviously just from looking at the character designs and finding out the basic premise I could immediately tell that the show isn't "high anime" or top shelf anime, and is rather designed to appeal to bishoujo-loving otaku, but given how much you people talk about it and discuss the plot I was rather hoping it might be one of those bishoujo otaku anime with a compelling, dramatic plot like say Mai Hime.
However it is far too banal and low-density for that.
Overall it's significantly less interesting even than Akane ga kill. and no I don't mean that akame ga kill is interesting because it has more fights, I mean that they're both bishoujo otaku anime that have some kind of dramatic plot and akame ga kill manages to be dramatically more engaging than re:zero, even though akame ga kill itself is pretty bad.
Can someone please explain how Rem activated her horn even though Subaru chopped it off some episodes ago
Going a bit crazy isn't reason to maim some girl for life. He just had to smack her in the dick.
Everything so far is basically the start of the real story, setting up how Subaru becomes the more competent hero he'll be in the rest of the series.
I mean, this is already confirmed, but, I just realized that the huge cat thing that killed Subaru obviously was Puck. He refered to someone as his daughter which Puck does. Plus, he changed size. We've seen him do that before. And we know he's ridiculously powerful.
He hates Barusu because Barusu will never penetrate him
Wilhelm Trias was born under the noble family but didn't have any succession right. So, he entered the army seeking future and promoted fast enough with his combat sense in Demihuman War(It was more like a rebellion than actual war).
Someday, Wilhelm met a girl in ruin who was seeding flowers. When the girl asked him why he is wielding a sword, he replied "Becuase I don't have any other way." They met often and when Wilhelm fall in love with her, his reply changed into "Because I don't know any other way to protect."
When his family's hometown was attacked by rebel force, Wilhelm went there but couldn't stop massacre on his family and villagers. Just before Wilhelm was about to die along, the Sword Saint, a girl he met before, comes and saves the day (Wilhelm didn't know her first name). Wilhelm became furious that she hid her status as Sword Saint, attacked her and promptly curb-stomped by her. She repeated his line, 'Because I don't know any other way to protect' and leaves, when Wilhelm promised himself he will take that responsibility back.
Therasia Astrea was born with Blessing of Reaper, and any wound inflicted by her could be fatal. Because of that, she hated sword and Astrea Family didn't train her swordsmanship either. It all changed when she succeeded the Blessing of Sword Saint in age 12. She finally agreed on joining the Demihuman War to protect Wilhelm.
With the Sword Saint's power and De Facto leader of the rebellion, Valga Cromwell presumed killed by Wilhelm in an assault on Lugunica Palace(Explains how he popped up from the floor in episode 13), Demihuman War was swiftly over with Lugnica victory.
In a triumphal celebration, Wilhelm abruptly enters and issues a duel against Thearesia. When she lost, Wilhelm proposes her claiming "You no longer have to wield the sword because you're weaker than me" which Therasia answered yes with crying.
However, the song ends in tragedy when their son, Heinkel was ordered to lead the White Whale hunt. Thearesia took his position instead, and prevented Wilhelm from coming along by inflicting a wound (He already had other mission: finding a missing daughter of royalty)
Therasia's hunting party was completely annihilated (a sin of Vainglory was there) , and from then Wilhelm spent everything on revenge, abandoning Astrea family and entering Crusch's side because she was the only noble agreed to help him with hunting White Whale.
Wilhelm hates both his son(Heinkel) and grandson(Reinhard), because they all took part in Therasia's death. She went there because Heinkel refused to do so, and Reinhard took away her Blessing of Sword Saint while she was fighting, greatly decreasing her capability.
Heinkel(Almost like fantasy-born Subaru) also has reasons to hate both his father(Wilhelm) and son(Reinhard). Wilhelm abandoned the family for revenge, and Reinhard beat him in a duel when he was only 5 year old, denying every effort he spent on swordsmanship (It was mentioned almost joke-like in Author's Q&A, but tragic in his sight).
When Wilhelm tried to stop Reinhard from interfering his duel against Therasia, he joined anyway.
The memories of Wilhelm and Thearesia start appearing after Reinhardt says, "I killed my grandmother fifteen years ago... What's here is just a corpse."
When the deed is done, Wilhelm rushes for Thearesia and is in tears. Professing his love and goodbyes. Her conscienceness was intact in her final moments and says hers as well. Her body turns to ashes. Later, Wilhelm asks him whether he regrets or not, and Reinhard replies he doesn't have any. Wilhelm then starts to address Reinhard as 'Sir Reinhard', indicating he no longer considers him his grandson (with the useless father/son in the background). Reinhardt leaving and Wilhelm with his wife in his hands. When Wilhelm meets Subaru and goes off to bury his beloved, he takes one good look at Subaru and something like, "as if...".
and the love story of the sword demon continues on.
>"ram_(re:zero) solo" 2 pages
>"rem_(re:zero) solo" 23 pages
and Reinhard took away her Blessing of Sword Saint while she was fighting, greatly decreasing her capability.
Could someone elaborate further on this? I don't really understand. Was it like
Reinhard became Sword Saint when she was fighting?
I think it was something about the Blessing passing down to Reinhart immediately the moment he was born, if I remember correctly? In this case, the world's love for him sure fucked him over.
I hope your drool splatters her ugly face.
>Throwing her arms out She wrapped around Subaru’s neck and snuggled up next to him.
>“Uh, eh, eeeh!?”
>“Don’t move. I’m checking something out right now.”
>Since they were about the same height, her face was now right next to Subaru’s. Her voice whispering directly into Subaru’s ear, his whole body felt like it was being tickled. His face turned red from the sensation. He looked to his surroundings for help, finding Rem loitering near the mansion’s entrance he instantly turned pale.
>She had on a blank face, one could see from afar she was unconcerned with what was happening. Towards the now gasping Subaru, Rem gestured her hands in a small mincing motion. It wasn’t like this gesture had any meaning in particular, but the intent was clearly conveyed to Subaru.
>“I’m going to tell Emilia”
That isn't a love story, that wasn't a love story at all.
>accidental kill? (mitsubishi did step into the middle of the storm , though)
His head got removed after Puck looked at him and told him to sleep. Hardly accidental.
>blaming him for not protecting witch bitch?
Unlikely, Emilia is the one who sent him away in the first place.
This is likely, maybe mixed with uncontrolled grief. Subaru did smell like the Witch and Puck probably thought "I really got nothing more to lose at this point and this guy has smelled like the cult that killed Emilia the whole time"
So, I've read over some translations of the Satella parts and what people have said about it all,
and it really is looking like Subaru is the villain behind everything and all of the terrible things that happen. He just doesn't remember setting it all up. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who engineered the creation of the Witch Cult, especially given how they're named after the stars of his world, all to play a role in what is currently going down.
I wonder what will happen if he properly gets those memories back or has the chance to return to being whoever Satella knew.
Apologies for the tumblr gif, but I thought this was
Based on the foreshadowing of the story and the author's hints Subaru is most likely going to lose everything and everyone except for Emilia by the time it reaches that point so.
I honestly wouldn't blame him if everything Tappei is hinting at will come true. If anything Subaru would have my upmost sympathy.
Though its probably going to be for the sake of Emilia like always.
Maybe. However, I'm pretty sure the way these things usually go is that the character has effectively become a different person than whoever their original identity was, and it's called into question whether they really want to go back to being that guy at all.
>Reverting back wouldn't be too bad if not the better option.
Well, unless he winds up absolutely despising the guy who turned his life to shit and ruined the lives of everyone he cares about.
True. But if "that person" is himself that would be rather conflicting.
This series is built upon false hope, lies and promises. It would be delusional to think this series has a happy ending. It would even be more delusional to believe that Rem will come back and Subaru's adoptive children won't be killed off. Not to mention all of the other tidbits left by the author for the foreseeable future, most of which is not good.
This series does things to you anon. There is no end to this wild ride.
>True. But if "that person" is himself that would be rather conflicting.
I don't think Subaru would have all that much trouble hating himself. It really just depends on which version of himself he'd hate more at that point.
Reminder, Mastodon is official band of Re:Zero threads
Get a load of this uneducated faggot.
>Even be more delusional to believe that Rem will come back
Now that's not true. We both know that Rem will come back, just not in a way you would expect expect it. Well, I guess it is expected because of the number of similarities and hints that she will end up like Wilhelm's wife. Just to fuck with us one more time.
Not hate. Just resent. Because the author just likes to twist the knife and drill into our heads that he is doing all of this for Emilia, even if his actions and thoughts don't match that philosophy.
Yeah, fine. Its not like she'll crumble into dust in Subaru's arms after failing to revive her or anything.
Rem will come back, he will definitely save her anons. Believe me.
Because he hates weak people and those who don't value their own lives, as he developed that complex before Fourier's death. Its to the same degree with Crusch as well.
You despair faggots need to stop. They're only visions. Plus the author could be joking around with his Q&As. Nothing is set in stone.
Maybe. Subaru's given speeches about letting the past stay in the past and looking to the future instead, so I'm hoping he takes his own advice and manages to continue on regardless of the horrible shit that happens to him. I really don't want to see him as the Dark Lord at the end.
>Rem wished she never existed
>Rem thought the world was better of without her
>Her name gets eaten her existence wiped
>Subaru is the only one that remembers her
>Her only value now lies within one person
Its pottery if you ask me.
I'm sure Tappei read 2ch. Fuckin memelord. At least he should make main heroine more interesting than stupid sweet girl
>Stupid sweet oni girl
Emilia fags, everyone
posts like this are a diamond dozen
Daily Reminder that
Arc 4 will need a 1 cour(13 episodes) at the very least or 2 cour(24+ episodes) to cover faithfully.
That means that future adaptations are in shambles. See you never guys. I always wanted to see Arc 5 animated but that will never happen.
If they do push through with regular adaptations for Arc 4 they will be committing commercial Sudoku due to the arc being overly long and weekly viewers will lose interest.
The sales went down due to many people dropping the series by volume 4. Which gave the author more fuel to write more cynical and sadistic shit. Also taunting his readers, like always.
LN is polished WN, he has no choice if he doesn't want to rewrite the story.
>trip 4s, quint 8s
Also, why did puck have to turn out to be such an awful character when he originally seemed like such a bro? He's literally a pure Emilia fag, and gives zero shits about anybody else.
Re:Zero or in general? If it's the latter then Kumo is the most recent and relevant example for me. You can't leave WN content intact if you don'ntwant to ineffectively bloat LN.
He was believer in love, anon
>As a prank, Roswaal hires a dangerous mega-killer to steal Emilia's badge
>Said mega-killer has no objections to killing everyone (including Emilia) in this endeavor.
>The same Emilia's who's death will trigger her familiar mega-beast to go berserk and kill literally everyone else
This is one of the worst plans I've ever heard in my life. Is Roswaal retarded?
>There's no worse villain than the stereotypical evil-for-no-reason villain behaving like a lunatic.
You're saying that despite not even knowing his backstory yet.
Not him but he has kept a number of promises and hasn't broken a single one as of yet. With the only exception being Emilia.
You killed her!
You killed her! With both my hands and fingers you killed her!
He is, but his Divine Protection from Gay Thoughts prevents him from embracing his true love.
Re:Zero. Cause like you said, there needs to be adjustments to keep the LN from bloating.
As of now I thought thought Arc 3 was pretty long but then people are saying Arc 4 will be many times longer than that.
Do you really expect him to kill the whale in the first try?
Whe he start talking normally
>Everything he says is directed to himself most of the time.
Time to re-watch episode 15
So is the anime following the light novel or the web novel?
Cause the spoilers seem to be different than what's written here.
it seems rem got erased but subaru dies and resets back to before she got erased and they killed the whale without rem disappearing
So which is it?
What the fuck? Did they really change that in the LN? They have better not.
You should believe in Emilia-sama, anon-kun.
>Is it the final boss?
The final boss? Nah. The final boss is going to be the mastermind behind everything, the architect of Subaru's suffering, and the clown is really just another pawn. It's a character who showed up in the very first scene of the show.
Not a lie. They become best bros after arc 3.
The whale isn't what gets her in the end.
Oh shit I completely forgot about Ley
I remember now, they got ambushed with Crusch on the way to the medical tents
How did I forget that
I wonder what will happen once Subaru finally confronts that shittalker.
