When you think about it, Delta might as well be the best looking Macross TV series.

SDF was really good when it was good, but it was awful most of the time and its worst is basically meme material. 7 was stock footage half of the time. Frontier had really ugly character designs and even during the "good" moments like Seikon Hikou animation moved like garbage.

I can tell the moment when mirage shed tears is when she knows that she could not be with hayate anymore nor be like frejya. She knows her own weaknesses on not being a capable pilot, no fold receptors like frejya, not being able express the emotions that she has been holding back, not being able to sing to resonate with hayate. All these things that she lacks is shown eeveywhere for the past episodes. She is envy towards hayate and frejya because the both of them is like perfect combo in her eyes. From that scene onwards, she finally realized that she had feelings for hayate despite knowing that she will definitely lose.

My dear frejya shippers, i'm just sharing my rational thoughts towards mirage's character overall and how it affect that tearing scene in the end. I have no intention of making her winner of the triangle.

I don't see any. We have 2 main characters: Hayate and Freyja and they get majority of focus. Then we have shitton of secondary characters and obviously they can't get the same amount of screen time as our two main characters. If you want to complain about Delta because it has too many secondary characters than it's just your shitty opinion. Delta still handles its side characters better than for example Frontier. We got Messer x Kaname story, we have established and well developed personality for Keith, we learn a little bit more about Mikumo's mysterious personality with every episode. It made him realize the implications of war and death. Messer's death was what prompted Hayate to become a better pilot and take things more seriously.

I do agree however that Delta's writing is flawed, depending on the persons ability to comprehend. However I think it's main flaw is that it's limited with 26 episodes. Everything isn't happening in one go with an entire episode, rather everything is broken down into small hints. It all depends on the individuals ability to pay attention to detail.

I'll tell you this. Not a single dialogue in Delta is trivial. What you disregard as unneeded, is actually really impactful. From minor things like the bridge bunnies mentioning Arad and Kaname earlier in the episodes, to Roid changing his glasses and constantly focusing on Mikumo. Every bit of detail is essential

Freyja actually isn't cancer and I think the shipping stuff has gone to peoples head. It makes them not see the larger picture, and avoid facts. While people are claiming that Mirage is underdeveloped, she really isn't. She just develops slowly. This technique is actually a smart way to write her, and contrasts Freyja who develops quickly.

The individual development of Freyja and Mirage is also beautifully written too. Mirage is a zent who has a longer life-span than humans, while Freyja is a windie who has a shorter life span than humans. Freyja has to develop quickly, while Mirage doesn't. I genuinly don't think the triangle will end up with anyone being in a relationship though.

Freyja, has the spotlight and shining glory, because her character needs it, her fans need it, the need her happy face because she has a bittersweet tragic ending coming up. The signs are all there.

Mirage needs to be developed at this slow past, and be hated now so that when she develops, the audience can actually feel and notice how much she has grown and changed at the end of the series.

This is also why Mikumo is pushed as the center of the triangle, or breaker of the triangle. Mikumo, who is the plot of Delta will cause something to occur, and either her and Freyja or just Freyja will have to transcend time and space and become a significant figure in the Macross universe.

Nobody wins in this triangle. Mikumo and Freyja will transcend, Mirage will learn to become herself and not rely on anybody love, and Hayate will learn to respect Freyja's choice and fly the skies like he loves.

You guys might not like the idea now, but the way it will be done will have you guys feeling good. It will create a feel good feeling, like that guy stated. If any of you have seen Madoka or Evangelion, you guys will understand that once it ends that way, you won't want it to end no other way.
