I don't get this stupid "Ryuko is edgy" meme.
If anything she seemed very level head and focused to me. She even hated being half naked.
Frequently angry or disgruntled.
Motivated by revenge.
Openly defiant of authority.
Red/black color scheme.
Edgy isn't bad by default. Her character was fitting in the context of the setting and story.
I'd edge my dick up her ass knowwhatimsayin?
Did people forget it was just a joke made by people who looked at that announcement preview where Ryuuko was just a black and red blob and basically just looked like some new edgelord?
>Openly defiant of authority.
You just fucking repeated the same shit three times with different wording just to make your list of 'edgy' things longer.
Edyuko is a dumb whore whose dialogue revolves around telling people she will kill them and she is independent
Hopefully anime voice actors will start using manlier sounding women so this slut can be forgotten like opm and akame kill
That may be true but you still have to admit that during second half she became almost cartoonishly edgy. So "crawling in my skin" over the top she almost turned into a parody of edginess.
Okay tough guy
Get a lemon right now, and bite into as if it were an apple without wincing or tearing up
I actually have, but I really like sour food.
It's just a a more sour orange that can fuck with your teeth due to the excessive amount of acid. Don't have any at the moment though. Local Costco had no fruits for shit this week.
If you don't think this is edgy you need to sharpen your instincts.
I want to beat Ryuuko up and have my way with her while she glowers and feebly resists
I don't think anyone in /a/ knows what edgy means.
Not even myself.
I think mostly because she shared the same color scheme as Shadow and DMC Dante, who were edgy.
But I also think it was the premise of Senketsu that "We can beat this guy if we [X] more"
Don't lose your
You cannot stop unstoppable forces.
>inter-board fighting when you are all the same
Ryuko is the definition of an angsty teenager.
Her whole character development in the show is about becoming less angry and more social.
A few kawaii scenes here and there don't change the whole purpose of her character.
>you will never be in the Ryuuko gang
Ryuko is a sweet girl whose had to go through some angst because of her circumstance. Through her development in the show she is able to get over her self-loathing and be her sweet self.
A few edgy scenes here and there don't change the whole purpose of her character.
I don't care much for Kill la Kill but I do like that Trigger seems to really enjoy their work. Inferno Cop, Kill la Kill, Ninja Slayer and Space Patrol. All of them seem like them just goofing off and enjoying their work.
She was an antisocial rebel even before the death of her father and all what followed.
And there's no self loathing at all until the second half of the series.
Self loathing is an underlying issue from being abandoned. The point is the antisocial rebel act is her acting out, she's sweet at heart.
hug, touch her skin and hair and eyes, rub cheeks together and kiss her lightly everywhere
spend the night cuddling with her, praising her and feeling every bit of her body with my own
Her dad ignored her, and that's what pushed her into becoming rebellious and violent in a textbook way to ask for attention.
What before the Crawling In My Skin arc suggested self loathing exactly?
You're right, but she does have a lot of self doubt that becomes that self loathing.
Particularly, when Senketsu asks her if she's afraid of him and she tells him she's afraid of herself that would hurt him because she got angry. That's a recurring fear for her that boils over in the second half.
If anything, I think there wasn't enough emphasis on her character development (going from edgy to laid back). Thus she sort of stayed the same. It was still good enough though.
I think for one its perpetuated by the english voice acting that she's a "badass bitch" (though I disagree too). But her fans that post with her as an avatar all tend to seem edgy. This is a case where its not the character but the fans. Like how Sonic himself isn't autistic but his fans are.
People say she's edgy because of her design.
More specifically, her color scheme.
Black/Dark Blue and Red is almost always associated with edgy teenagers. It's like the comic sans of color schemes, where it was so overused that people hate it just on principle.
Get to know her, make friends with her. Ask her to go out to do things with me. Then eventually after some time of dating, and when the circumstances are right, pop the question. Hopefully live on till death together with a kid or two.
> no angry kirby
> no Haze
Kill la Kill is the worst anime I've ever seen. Entertaining, it was not. It's just a poor excuse for western cartoony physics and piss-poor fanservice. Trigger really dropped the ball on it. After that, they scrambled for the most cliche of harem anime. It's an indication of how disappointed they were with KLK's performance.
No, it's just the bastard child of Cutie Honey and Utena.
Gamagori is the best girl, the best boy, the best black dude, he's the best.
Almost nothing makes her edgy. It's just an ignorant opinion.
Just tell me, what edgy qualities does Ryuko have? Like holy shit, she doesn't even fucking go around killing people. Yeah, she wanted to kill the person that killed her father, but the people she fights? She ust mainly strips them of their clothing. She only killed her mother, but she COMPLETELY lost her humanity at that point, so she couldn't even be called a true kill.
She isn't completely dark and brooding and emo-ish. Yes, she had a downer arc for a while after finding out that she's part life fiber, but she wasn't like that for the rest of the series. Her attitude is actually generally more upbeat than Shadow's was.
She wanted revenge, but could you blame her??? Someone killed her father. Most normal people take revenge on those who HURT their goddamn family members. Ever heard about a guy who was okay with their daughter getting killed or raped?
What's funny is that Nui is easily more edgy than Ryuko, yet because of her cutesy design, she is easily overlooked, and Ryuko is treated as the edgy one. People just think, "She reminds me of Shadow, so she's definitely edgy".
From my analysis, Ryuko is only about as "edgy" as Yusuke Urameshi. I really think it's her character design which pushes people into believing that she's edgy.
Ryuko is meant to look edgy on a surface level, as her backstory, look and the fact that she literally slits her wrists to power up are fucking edgy, but her personality actually simply is hot-blooded and almost never brooding
>I don't get this stupid "Ryuko is edgy" meme.
Me neither. If you want an explanation for why it exists, OP, it's because Kill la Kill was extremely popular with /v/ermin. And since /v/ermin are the trash of society, they were 99.9% Shitsukifags, and since they couldn't handle the fact that Shitsuki is so shit compared to Ryuko (especially after it was revealed they are related), they constantly flung their shit at Ryuko.
The "Ryuko is edgy" thing is the worst testament of that - they were literally posting their favorite Sonic & other "video game" characters in the threads, when talking about how Ryuko is according to their inferior Shitsukifag minds.
>Best Boy (black)
Nah man, it's Ryuko and her clothes.
Ragyo killed herself. Ryuko actually asked her to surrender peacefully.
That being said, because her rebellious nature was so colored by vengeance and her disgruntled/angry/bitchy attitude for the majority of the series, there's legitimacy in calling her edgy. There's also the whole "fuck the system" angle what with her rejection of Satsuki's fascist regime and her flippant attitude towards those in power.
On a final note, her being edgy isn't a bad thing. It's completely justified in context and she works very well as a protagonist in the show. Furthermore, it's only a part of her character, which provides a nice contrast to her lonely but kindhearted nature. They're not mutually exclusive.
