Anon, being great (cinematic wise) not only need good visual alone, but also need groundbreaking ideas, unique cinematic direction, and the most important 10/10 story.
Just look at '12 Angry Man', the visual is shit (since it's an old film) but the story & direction are top tier.

In my opinion, studios who already reach kino are Ghibli (Totoro & Spirited Away), Madhouse (Kon's movies), & I.G (GiTS '95).

I just really dislike how blurry and artificial the scenes were made in Hibike. Especially the beginning cherry blosom and ending concert scenes. It was an eyesore..
