Main proof in the game is that after Act 3, he has correctly predicted both the Good End (Nobody else will be killed in the school), and the Bad End (Our children shall have the same mother).

He's not the only person who can see other timelines though. Evidence that Zero Escape many worlds bullshit is basically confirmed with both DR:IF (Where Makoto briefly sees Mukuro's death and prevents it), and Sayaka's School Mode ending/The whole "I'm Psychic, Just Kidding" act.

So, Naegi will be put in a moment of near death, but the actions of one other person will change his fate.

As far as understanding why Junko killed Mukuro: it's easier to think of it as "why would Junko keep Mukuro alive"? Mukuro was essentially only a liability going forward, she was the biggest threat. You can't have her kill somebody because Junko wants a class trial and if you throw Mukuro in a class trial with everyone gunning for her, she's gonna fuck it up. Finally, Genocide Jack knows who Mukuro is. If they lived to meet each other in DR1, Junko's plan is fucked

Motive-wise the starvation funhouse was absolutely fucked. This is another reason people like Gundham, he was the only murderer to actually have a good reason to do what he did.

I was lucky that I did a few of his FTEs beforehand and one that stuck with me during the end of the trial was where he expresses sadness for the cow in the ranch because it was domesticated and had no real life at all. It shows that he really values life above all, which is what he told Sonya and the rest at the end of the trial.

Better to live another day than have everyone starve to death for the sake of ideals. Mechamaru understanding instantly was the icing on the cake for a kind of shitty character.

I'm kinda indifferent towards him, though personally I don't feel that "usefulness" is that big a factor in liking or dislike a character.

He's pretty much Ibuki/Ishimaru tier, he's there as a moodmaker of sorts. He gets his one big case in DR2 but that alone was more than around a third of DR1's cast and almost as many of DR2's cast gets too.

With Souda, I reckon the main reason people disliking him is how flip-floppy he is towards Hajime all game. Merely being antagonistic towards to Hajime isn't in itself a bad thing, but with Souda it was almost always based in shaky reasoning and would be better directed towards a different member of the cast (his trust issues don't negate the latter part of this point). On top of that, in the latter parts of the game his entire character was pretty much just him mindlessly hovering around Sonia and it wasn't that entertaining to begin with in my opinion.
