Time and time again death flags are thrown at all the main characters and they walk away perfectly fine. Even now, Armin still breathes despite all the shit that happened to him last chapter. To add on, Ymir's got the added bonus of her fate being ignored for over three years now while in that time frame she has been said on numerous occasions to be the key or a key to the story. I find it incredibly hard to believe that Isayama would build this up and keep us waiting for such an absurdly long time for the out come if it was just going to be an offscreen death and all mysteries of the character solved in a death letter, listing off everything in a neat little list.
