As for ships we see in a montage in the episode Devil's Dolls Supervision warships fighting the Zentradi.

They are probably using the same battlepods and power suits as the Zentradi but with different paint job.

In Macross 7 episode 2 Exsedol found the enemy seems familiar but dismissed it as they are using miclone VFs not Zentradi mobile weapons. The Varauta Army were the new slave army of the Protodevlin.

Shame DoW3 is such a mess.

I thought this was a good and very needed episode. It hinted once again at a horrible war for Windermere when Herman said that Roid and Keith, who weren't full-fledged knights, had to join the fight because of how many people they lost, or when they showed Bogue visiting his family's grave (five members dead, but I wonder how exactly they died because his home seems to be that castle they shown before so it couldn't have been in Carlisle). We know Cassim lost everything and no idea about Freyja but she could be a war orphan as well. The footage is suspicious, unless it was a rebel faction within NUNS like some anons have speculated, and Valans is part of said faction. Roid's and Berger's intentions are still a mystery; Roid at first talked about peace talks but now he wants to go to war against NUNS? For the protoculture thing? Because I doubt that was Gramia's last will like he claims it is. And of course Arad is in the known of a lot of things.

Also, this episode showed the first cracks within the Aerial Knights. Bogue and the twins are all for a war against NUNS, Herman and Cassim think it's nuts (like of course a good chunk of the population), and Keith remains neutral, more or less, but he's willing to follow Roid's plans as long as it's what makes Windermere great again.

You can sort of get the hints of further sympathy from them though just based on how they talk in the shsow. Let's compare the Windies to the Protodevlin. By all intents and purposes, all the Protodevlin ever talk about is Spiritia and nothing but Spiritia for practically the whole series. All they speak about is the various ways they're going to eat people's life energy. However, halfway through they start having Gigil and Sivil (well really just Gigil, Sivil's in a coma most of the time) who reach understanding through Basara's song. At the same time that doesn't immediately start excusing the rest of the Protodevlin but the path to understanding was laid out.

The same applies to the Windies but in a much larger state. Sure the Knights talk about how they want to take out the NUNG, but that's just it. Their hatred is directed at what they see is the enemy of their past. We know that they on their own are regular culture, they just reject understanding. We also have not been given the full story on Windermere's past nor do we know the complete details on what NUNS is up to in the shadows (and denying they are up to something just as much as the Episilon faction is is just blatant ignoring the show at this point). Remember, the Vajra were nothing but murderous bugs for most of the series too.

The one ambiguous factor is Roid who I think actually is trying to do the right thing but is taking it too far and while I don't think he intended to become a villain, he will by his own accord

Well going by Freyja's manga 14 = super late to marry. She also goes on about how the elders are saying she's 'wasting her life' by being single.

So we can assume that a huge part of windy culture is based around producing the next generation. Marry young, have kids young (their bodies can handle it due to being super strong) and spend the rest of their lives raising their offspring before they die. Cassim was a father at 17 (and let's assume the war caused people to put off babymaking for a while, so if it didn't happen he'd probably be even younger) and Herman is a grandfather for the second time at 33.

This focus is probably why their society doesn't seem to have progressed past the 1800s before humans arrived - they just had no time for technological advancements.
