Pretty sure the doctor didn't put much thought into it when he said their memories would be erased.
The higher up wanted the two test subjects to date each other, erasing their memories of each other would make very little sense. I think the author just threw that in there to make readers worry.

I'm having a hard time believing that this is only because of her childhood. Does she actually, literally have autism?

Flat affect, difficulty with using or understanding appropriate social cues, difficulty communicating in a social context, difficulty with nonverbal communication in general, problems creating and maintaining relationships, lack of imagination, and inflexibility coupled with a fixation on routines and patterns. She doesn't sperg out when someone makes a loud noise, she's not completely obsessive about meaningless tasks, and she's not so fucked that she can't properly speak, but god damn that's a lot of the symptoms of high-functioning autism.

The experiment will be terminated if either one of the test subjects find out that the other person is also a test subject. Interaction between the two is not only ok but also what they wanted. Yoake and Onoya clearly want Kaizaiki to stop being so self conscious about "an old dude dating a high school girl". And they knew he is not going to rape her in her sleep. An says that they don't know what will happen. Which seems to suggest that the memory loss effect is a function of the pill they've already taken which starts at the end of the experiment somehow and not a more certain and purposeful action like them being taken in to the lab and put through a memory scrambler machine or some shit. It's not been very well fleshed out and it seems the author intends to keep it that way until it serves a purpose in the story to reveal more about how the pill and memory loss actually works.
