I'm kind of torn. On the one hand, Okada was absolutely crucial to making Wixoss what it was, and I think the story largely played to her strengths. That being said, I'm not sure having the same flavour of story is really the way Wixoss should move forward (it was already starting to feel stretched in Spread). Okada's Wixoss was at its best when it was gradually peeling back the layers and showing just how completely messed up the Selector system was; now that the mystery of the selector system's been pretty neatly solved, the same atmosphere would lack the impact, and probably be a drag on the new series. It might be good to see some fresh ideas. Maybe lost orange could be the '5Ds' of Wixoss. I think studio Pablo is irreplaceable, though.

Regarding Mari Okada performance in that series there are interesting things to point out, but the original reason for me to watch Kiznaiver was to compare the output of the series when she was partially at charge of the series i.e. series compositor plus scriptwriter of a few episodes with her complety in control, which fits Kiznaiver case.

What happend to Kiznaiver?
-Okada couldn't create synergies with Trigger
-Kiznaiver feels like it needed more episodes
-The use of her usual topics and clichés

Strongly disagree. Listening to Yoneyama Mai speak about Kiznaiver last weekend about why she was character designer showed just how much she understood the characters and intent of the story, and put all that into how everyone looked. And even before that, I felt from the very first episode that Trigger is absolutely perfect for Okada's writing. People like to say she doesn't leave anything unsaid in her scripts, but that's because they get distracted and miss the subtleties. From the characterization of Nico jumping around, to Katsuhira twirling his hair, to Yuta holding himself like a girl; to the sharp lines and light/shadow used to bring out the feeling of the Kizna, to the powerful use of color in emotionally charged scenes. This was a perfect synergy.

I wasn't sure where the story would end up; indeed, we only figured out the true purpose at the end of episode 11. But in true Okada fashion, she tied together everything important magnificently, and as a bonus we got a full epilogue. I say it this way because there are often a lot of things brought up for background or flavor, but are ultimately unnecessary and left loose. These are not plot holes, because the plot is always completed.

I mean it still had its good points. Futase's story was nice, and Ulith pretty much carried the show while she was onscreen, but almost everything good from Infected (particularly the entire subplot about enjoying selector battles) was ruined/discarded. Meanwhile they didn't do anything about the actual bad parts of the show (Yuzuki and Hitoe).

Overall it was watchable but completely failed as a continuation of Infected. I can't suspect scrapping the entire TANOSHII element did their card sales any favors either.

That was the best part or Spread.

I don't understand why they arbitrarily made it 3 wins to become an eternal girl. They completely shot themselves in the foot by fundamentally limiting a character to 5 wixoss battles (3 if they're good at the game) before essentially being booted out of plot relevancy. It's simply not possible to properly develop a character on that many battles without making 70% of it be about extraneous shit that doesn't directly involve WIXOSS battles (which is exactly what happened in Infected/Spread, and I suspect the spinoffs as well).

I think in one of the side manga, it was stated that you can only get your wish granted when your LRIG is confident that she can grant your wish and once that happens you just need to win one more game.
You're right that it could have been used better, but part of of Ruu's whole deal is that she didn't have a wish so regardless of whether she won one game or 100, it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Ruuko's deal was that she loved batoru and was practically a genius at it, it's a pretty big waste when she ends up hardly ever doing it. Yes she had a moral dilemma about whether it was okay to batoru without a wish, but a proper protagonist will usually be pressured to continue forward in spite of that and not spend half the series sitting on their ass wondering if it's okay to beat the final boss. That one character trait simply should not have been used to put her in plot stasis for ~6 episodes.

And yeah, now I do remember that Ruuko had to have beaten at least a few people in the tournament. It just all happened offscreen except for the Hitoe/Iona rematches because the story's priorities were completely fucked and they probably had no idea what to do about there only being 5 actual LRIGs at the time of production.

It sounds like you also want there to be only 3 wins to become an Eternal Girl if I interpreted that right, so that it keeps on moving. Except that misses the entire point of the system, which requires girls to actually be invested in the wishes they make whether they win or lose, and also for the LRIGs to be invested, because honestly speaking there are more kind LRIGs out there than there are horrible ones like Remember and Ulith. If all it took was winning, the price of a wish would be too cheap.

Infected had perfect pacing, as secrets were built up to and revealed, expectations were not just answered but went beyond what we thought possible, and the ending took every part of the plot and twisted around what was supposed to be a straightforward end. Those flashbacks of Yuzuki's moment with Hanayo were there for a reason—so that during the climactic scene they could avoid breaking the pacing and showing it again.

Spread was slow and meandering in the middle, despite all the good Akira scenes. But that's because there was no plot contrivance giving the girls boosts in one direction or the other to solve their problems faster. The only clue they have is a random novel? Then they have no choice but to investigate for two full episodes. Maybe it would've been better if it was faster, but they hit the soft character limit and couldn't add any more.

This was an issue. I felt that Futase's story should have been limited to one episode. The main purpose of those episodes was to advertise the LNs. Three significant plot points came from the Futase visit. Ruuko regained her conviction to batoru, the main cast getting information on Mayu and reinforcement that the Wixoss system is terrible. It didn't need the amount of time it was given.

Actually just got to those episodes in my rewatch, and the pacing seems fine; it's really only the first episode or two of spread that have really shot pacing. Remember the first episode is level 5 and mayu mystery stuff (kuro no shoujo, etc), and the second half of the second episode is all Akira/Ulith stuff, and the Futase part shows how the 'winning' LRIG is still fucked long term. Watching through, it seems fine, and not really something worth complaining about. Then again, I think most of Spread is not worth complaining about, and some people think very strongly otherwise.

Almost everything that involved Yuzuki and Hitoe independent of Ruuko sucked ass and could have been spent on further developing Ruuko, Tama, Iona, worldbuilding, or even just developing Hitoe/Yuzuki in a less asinine fashion. Almost everything else which made up ~70% of Spread's airtime was completely unrelated to Ruuko's singular objective, or just pointless shit to drag the story out like Akira kidnapping Hitoe when Ulith and Ruuko already met and had no reason to not have already had a match 2 episodes prior.

Not to mention, what happened to Hitoe had no possibility of being the desire that made Ruuko become a selector in the first place. Kiyoi on the other hand could have easily gone "fuck it" if Remember told her Sakaguchi couldn't be saved.
