I doubt it. Remember, there's no evidence that the character development he had in the Super version of RoF and the training stuff with Gohan and Piccolo had anything to do with Toriyama - especially when you read Toriyama's and Toyotaro's interview and they talk about Gohan. They seemed to consider his story finished.

So, if this encounter is actually from Toriyama's outline, it likely won't lead anywhere for Gohan. Trunks will see that he's different and then leave him alone. Toei might add some references to him going back to training, but it'll be irrelevant and he won't have any active role in the arc.

So, this is going to be a snore fest till at least ep 54.

You're either very naive or hopeful to think that this show is going to do anything other than Goku and Vegeta Battle Buddies Power Hour.

Gohan went from a pretty important character in the series (even though he wasn't the strongest)

Two of my favorite moments in the series are when Gohan fights Vegeta, because events have chased Vegeta down to a point where Gohan can even lay a finger on him, and Gohan's first REAL fight in the series is against a foe not even his dad can stand up to, and him fight. And secondly, when Future Gohan fights and loses against the Androids, because he fully believes that Trunks will save the future in his stead.

I don't care if Gohan's not the strongest, I 'just want him to be able to do SOMETHING. Instead, the series looked at him, and decided that Vegeta needs more screentime, so Gohan gets to be a shittier along with everyone else. Not even filler episodes can escape Goku/Vegeta antics.


Between that and all the shitposting about the "Church of Gohan", I feel like I made a long bet on a series and I've lost just by watching.
I'd at least be happy if he was being replaced by someone on the roster, but no, not even that.

He does have a strong sense of justice, but he needs to be particularly angry and fighting with reckless abandon to properly utilize his potential.

Obviously he hates to see anybody get hurt, but not everyone's suffering is enough to invoke his true fighting strength. His immediate family has taken such a huge priority in his life that I think if the writers wanted to be serious about giving Gohan anything more than a background role at this point, they'd have to involve his wife or daughter in some sort of situation.

He said himself he couldn't get angry like in the Cell games when trying to stop Buu from hatching.
