Following WW2, a bunch of Christian missionaries flooded Japan, and generally were rude, obnoxious assholes who treated Buddists and Shinto followers like shit.

This coloured the overarching Japanese view of Christianity/Catholics, and is responsible for the Church Secretly Evil shit that plagues virtually every LN.

As a result of this revulsion towards Christians, Christian demons were whitewashed and generally made to be oppressed or misjudged by Humans or the Church equivilant in Japanese works, then later fetishized to sell horny demoness Animu products.

It has to do with Japan's belief system. Since they don't belive in fate the way most Eurpoeans do, they believe a god that manipulates and sets the destiny of people is mostly evil. Also, in most of their fictions, demons are not the same as we usually think of demons in a religious sense. Most of the time demons in anime don't have anything to do with the concept of Hell. They're usually treated as a different race.
