There's nothing wrong with it but it's pretty divisive. It's the least popular Part in Japan but it's not hated, you've probably just heard that it is from retards regurgitating shit. And it's actually fairly well liked by Western fans, though like all Parts there are people who hate it for various reasons. If you enjoyed 5 with it's shit translations then you'll enjoy 6 at least as much (only 5 has shit translations, everything after is really well done besides grammar fuck ups). Try not to speed through it though, people who rush Part 6 on their first read usually end up disliking it. It has some weaknesses like the main group never really getting time to bond and some of the Stands reaching the point where they're just too fucking weird but it's not bad by any means. People also don't like the ending which is understandable but a lot of them don't actually get the ending. Part 6 is kind of like Evangelion and it ends the series (Part 7 is a reboot completely unconnected to the first 6 and 8 is it's sequel) in a very bittersweet way. It also has practically no downtime, and even if it doesn't seem that way at first every fight has plot progression and it gets a bit full on with the plot always moving ahead at full pace.

You'll enjoy it I'm sure, it's not bad at all and both Jolyne and Pucci are excellent characters and Pucci is the most active and constant main villain in the series, he's practically a main character himself.

Ironically the setting is one of my favorite things about it, which I know is one of the things a lot of people bitch about. Character interactions were great, Jolyne's fights were all incredible and Pucci is a great villain. It didn't exactly have a lot of the best things in the series, but everything that it did have I really liked in some way, shape or form.

He wanted to focus more on their character development rather than give a bunch of people smaller character arcs. He wanted to try something bigger with each individual character. Some side characters still got shafted though since he didn't want SBR to be as long as it ended up being. It seems like he wanted to hurry up the Damo fight with the last chapter as well, given it's abruptness and the fact that putting your severed organs back in place after leaving Vitamin C's effect range magically reattaches them and that Araki didn't even bother showing us Josuke putting his liver back in or even picking it up or looking at it, just left us to guess what the fuck happened between panels.

They've retranslated the first half and it's great so far. Once it's done you should definitely go back to it. I've read the Japanese version and I can tell you that not only was every character butchered but the ending and all the Rome stuff became fucking unintelligible. GER feels like way less of an asspull and while not the best final battle in the series, it's not as bad as English makes it seem and the epilogue with Rolling Stones actually has a point to it. Not my favourite Part but the English translations really did it an injustice.

Speedwagon was a good character but you have to admit his dedication to Jonathan is came out of nowhere and was WAY too strong.

Like he met him once and Jonathan showed him mercy, then after they meet again back at the Joestar mansion he's so emotional and invested in whats going on, if you told someone who just started reading/watching there that they "were friends since childhood" they'd readily believe that over "They met once a few hours ago and Jonathan was nice to him"

He's a clint eastwood type character, which is why he doesn't work as well as someone like Joseph who is the same age but much more likeable.

In part 4 and 6 he's an adult, and can play the same character and be stoic but be much more interesting. He's a man in his 30s with the "strongest" stand in the world and yet he's very composed and stoic, so you can have great moments like breaking David Bowie's face.

Apparently Anasui isn't a clinical sociopath either, according to psychology tests on him he wasn't crazy. Just an asshole. I doubt that Anakiss could have been anywhere near as bad, if at all, given how everyone in the new universe seemed to have led better lives and to be more gentle and innocent as a result. But yeah, would've been interesting.

And I think we all wish we could've seen more of Jotaro. I liked him in every part he showed up in, but it was great seeing how he changed as he grew, and the influence he had on the people around him.

I don't think it was the crew that people had issues with, none of the characters are really hated or anything as far as I know. I'm pretty sure that the problems stemmed from some pacing issues with the story, and how fucking weird it got towards the end. I adore part 6 and nearly everyone in it and even I can admit that Heavy Weather is completely fucking stupid.

If I was going to change some stuff about it, I'd add an arc where Giorno showed up, possibly acting as an enemy at first. It seemed very strange that Gravity pulled DIO's other three children to Pucci, and even stranger that Giorno was the only one to miss out when it would've been great to see how he'd changed over the ten years or so of being the boss. It'd just be plain be cool to see how the 'heirs' of DIO and Jotaro interacted too, and would tie into the fate shit that ensnares the Joestar line.

And maybe add in some shit between when Jotaro returns and when Pucci and his MIH bullshit happen, the characters getting some actual time to settle down and bond and share experiences and shit would make the ultimate ending hurt even better.

I'm legitimately hopeful that David would work alongside Araki to make a part 6 adaptation be a success. How likely would it be that they'd get approval from Araki to add in arcs that weren't in the manga like ones you suggested? I really love part 6 but I feel like DP could perhaps change Japan's mind on disliking the part by fixing some of the issues it had.

I'd love that, but I really doubt that any studio would take such risks with an already-controversial part. It isn't like part 6 is hated, it's just the least popular. I could see changing it in an attempt to make it more popular backfiring, and fans getting mad about it being changed.

Still, SDC took a few liberties that worked better than the manga, I guess. Kakyoin's death and the reveal of DIO's powers was worlds (hee hee) better than it was in the manga. In the manga, Dio used his power for the first time, the audience saw it, Kakyoin got killed and figured it out, and that worked okay, but Kakyoin getting killed, figuring it out, and THEN it being shown worked way better and added more shock and emotion.

Here's hoping they manage the same with other parts, I have strong faith in them for the most part.

Me too. Seeing them put additional scenes like Kakyoin's backstory scene before his death and little additions like Okuyasu meeting Josuke for school for the first time make me so thankful we've got a studio like theirs who show they care for the series itself.
I think parts 5 and 6 would benefit the most from additional scenes and even an added arc, part 5 just so we can see more of Giorno's character and his relation to DIO.

His Stand is called Speed King and hie had a really well done introduction and despite being a 32 year old man running a fruit business he's managed to be enigmatic and sinister at the same time. The last chapter also pretty much confirmed that he's going to be the main villain. His design is also cool. He hasn't had many appearances yet but after this chapter he'll be appearing more often, and in a more villainous role. He's also hot and loves raising different species of beetles for beetle fighting. When he's first introduced we get a 4 chapter long beetle fight with him which is actually a secret Stand battle with neither participant knowing it's a Stand battle. Despite just being two beetles pushing eachother out of a ring it's incredibly intense.

I feel like he will be since he was introduced fairly early and already has some history with Josuke, plus there was that rather heavy-handed foreshadowing about what makes someone evil back at the start of Beetle Tendency. I expect Kaato to be super important though and maybe manipulating him or he's manipulating her. There's not enough context surrounding her to guess yet.

Makes sense really, I don't know though, I don't feel like Speed King would be a major villain's stand. With every villain in the series there was a particular feeling about them that made you -know- they would be the villain. I can't put my finger on it, but I can't feel it with Joubin, and I didn't feel it with Damo either when everyone said he was gonna be the main villain.

Pacing in parts 1, 2 and 4 so far have been just right. Part 3 drags out some fights actually, it's pacing is shoddy. But they add some pretty good scenes and it's quite nice to watch.

1, 2 and 4 are good but the pacing for 3 is pretty bad. For example, Part 3 was 154 chapters long and 48 episodes in the anime. Part 4 is 174 chapters and we're up to episode 14 of 39 episodes it's getting. 3 drags on. Also Part 4 is only like 5-10 years into the series' 30 year run and Part 8 is still being published so you're gonna have to read the manga eventually. The anime is a good adaptation but the manga is still better so it's really up to you.

Most people will tell you the anime is pretty good, just be sure to read the rest of the parts as well.
Parts 1, 2 and 3 also pale in comparison to the later parts, everything from part 3 onwards especially part 7 and 8 are god-tier.

I think that for first two, even three parts, the anime can offer a better experience than the manga.
Part 4 is where Araki finds his unique style and moves away from the HnK one.

It started as a shonen series in 1988 and it's most well known for having weird but well written fights and characters. It also revitalises itself by making every arc (referred to as Parts) be about a different character and setting, the only thing connecting them being that they're relatives and a very loose plot line concerning a vampire named DIO. Unlike most shonen series it actually gets better as it goes along and has been running for 30 years. Parts 1-6 make up the original series which was and still is one of the most influential shonen series of all time, while Parts 7 and 8 are part of a new series unconnected to the first; basically a reboot, but a very fucking good one which switched to seinen. The series has been fucking huge in Japan and Europe for years but never caught on in English speaking countries because of copyright issues (the author names almost everything after Western music). The anime is only 14 episodes into Part 4 which is only like 7 years into the series 30 year run so if you wanna get into it the manga is the best way to go, though there's nothing wrong with the anime apart from that.

Also it's long as fuck if you didn't pick up on that, the original series of 1-6 is 755 chapters long. Then the new series of 7 and 8 switched to monthly where chapters are 2-3x longer than weekly chapters and there's currently 151 and counting chapters in that series.
