Did your analysis take into consideration the fact that Armin's demise was the only one outside of Eren's back in the first volume that was presented as an actual death scene, without any of the cliffhanger or ambiguity that we've come to expect whenever a main character finds himself or herself in mortal danger? I mean, even in Eren's case, the injection he received prior to his "death" and the fact that was only saw his arm get bitten off should've been enough indication that he was actually alive.
