Let's have a manga thread, shall we?

What ongoing series are you following, and which are your favorite?

Any older series you finished recently?
>>
I pretty much stopped reading manga since mangatraders went down and batoto had this weird sign up shit it's pushing.
>>
>it's a manga general thread
Why don't you just fucking talk about a specific manga chapter you fucking /co/ crossboarders
>>
>>143382024
I've always used kissmanga over batoto for ongoing stuff anyways, same quality resolutions and more series available.

For finished series just download the complete pack off nyaa.
>>
What happened to Hinamatsuri?
>>
>>143382072
Wondering the same thing. What pushes people to make this kind of generic catch-all threads which in the end always turn into a permanent 24/7 thread.
>>
I'm always looking for more sickeningly sweet cute love shit to read. Just finished up Itoshi no Kana and moving on to Taiyou no Ie

Use kissmanga

Reading a bunch of ongoing shit, but I recently began Lucifer and the biscuit hammer. I'm enjoying it although I think the earlier chapters were weak story wise.
>>
I used to read Bloody Monday a long ass time ago and loved it. Now I wanna re-read what I already read and finish what I haven't but it's a lot since I'm reading a bunch of different manga right now, a lot of them ongoing and weekly.
>>

I'd been hesitant on reading Golden Kamuy because of the digital art, but just caught up with it and it's been a pleasantly comfy mix of Ainu culture and treasure hunting shenanigans.

Anyone know how factually accurate this page is regarding animals retracing their tracks?
>>
Every manga i've used to read went to hiatus or has ridiculously long release dates. On the other hand stupid shit like tomo chan or run of the mill yaoi shit is getting releases every day.
>>
Caught up to Bleach and JoJo, not reading anything else
>>
>>143382163
Because you assholes never bother to reply specific threads. If I were to post an Umi no Cradle chapter, how many of you would reply to it?
>>
>>143381977
Right now I'm not following too many. I follow Bleach because I have to finish it at this point.

I'm also reading Shoukoku no Altair which is a fantasy manga set in a fictional Turkish struggling against a much stronger Anglo-Saxon empire through diplomacy and espionage. Pretty cool stuff.

Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago is a manga I started recently that follows the famous Ottoman sultana Roxelana. The harem setting provides a unique setting for romance and some intrigue and politics as well.

Also read Otoyomegatari which is easily my favorite of the ones I'm following. I also picked up Kingdom some time ago and while I enjoyed it I dropped it for some reason after the first arc. I'll pick it up again eventually.
>>
>>143382163
I've tried to make threads one specific manga and they're usually DOA.

>>143381977
I finished this about a week ago and really enjoyed it, shit was really entertaining and thought provoking. The ending confused me though. Why?
>>
>>143382163
They never turn into a permanent 24/7 thread and people do these because it allows discussion on several manga at the same time, especially the more obscure ones that would die immediately with a thread of their own.
>>
Finished Umi no Misaki and Koe no Katachi the other day

UnM was just okay, the MC's relationships with the three girls were all fleshed out enough and it has the novelty of actually having the MC marry everyone which is uncommon for a harem series I guess. Sensei was best girl.
KnK was cute and had some interesting stuff going on, I dunno why but I was expecting something more "powerful" than what I got though. While I enjoyed it I probably won't bother with the anime it's getting, I wasn't that enamored with it really.

Reading New Grappler Baki at the moment (having watched the anime adaptation of the first series ages ago), it's nutty as fuck.
>>
>>143386012
I had a phase where I only wanted to read martial arts manga but even then I never took to Grappler Baki for some reason. Something about the art and the way its executed in general turns me off.
>>
>>143386139
It's definitely not for everyone. Also some of these scanlations aren't great which doesn't help.

Best way to describe it is that it's like the JJBA of martial arts manga, and I'm talking early JJBA here.
>>
File: Otoyomegatari.full.1695012.jpg (2MB, 1200x1661px) Image search: [Google]
Otoyomegatari.full.1695012.jpg
2MB, 1200x1661px
What are some good romance manga centered around more uncommon forms of romance?

Otoymegatari is probably my favorite example. Main couple is a 12 year old boy married off to a 20 year old woman and it works much better than I thought it would. Also has polygamy later too.

Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago centers around a literal harem in the Ottoman Palace so it has some interesting elements to it. The way the MC, Roxelana, slowly adapts and accepts her new reality as a concubine and all the various realities that come with it is neat.
>>
>>143386321
I haven't read it but Mahoutsukai no Yome sounds like the sorta thing you're looking for perhaps
>>
>>143382230
I have something for you then, anon.
>>
>>143381977
I read Gan-Kon.

It was a fun shonen series.

The premise is hard to explain without sounding stupid, but it's about a guy who wants a waifu badly enough that a god grants his wish and the god becomes his waifu.

But for the god to maintain her existence, he must battle against other people who have had their wishes granted, deriving power from their wishes.
>>
Scanlatorfag here. Manga is literally dead and there's nothing good coming out from Japan for years. After the end of ongoing series there'll be only moeshit and yaoi left in the market. Scan teams are dropping the scene one by one except for fujoshit.
>>
>>143386790

BNHA is the best thing that has come out since NNT.
>>
>>143386790
This is true. I can't believe how saturated the manga industry now with shitty yaoi and pointless moeshit

>>
>>143386932
Things are going downhill since 2007. But it's actually having it's worst in nowadays. Kakegurui prequel and that Ainu trivia crack manga are the only good things which has been released around these times. I blame lazy scan teams who release nothing but doujin and fujoshit for it.

since then "manhwa" has been going down the shitter, with nothing but juvenile or porny shit.
if the future of korean comics is webtoons, then they don't deserve to be on /a/

in the beginning they were trying to be like manga and they were slowly making it their own thing. now they imploded and it's all over.

My guess is that Batoto added that because the numbers of automatic downloads increased substantially after MT went down.

It didn't help much, cause I changed a few bits here and there on my script and I sorta mass download anyway. (It's not perfect though)
If anyone knows how to get their random code numbers each chapter I'm interested...

Witch Hunter volume 16 cover.jpg

I used to read Witch Hunter. It had some cool ideas and I liked the art and the setting and overall it was a decent action adventure fantasy series. Also I remember liking the fan service and that's not usually something I look for in a manga(actually I think it was a manwa). I dropped it a while ago way back when I happened to drop a bunch of manga I was following because I was a bit burnt out on the medium but I always thought I should pick it up again

Anyone else read it? Does it hold up or overstay its welcome?

The stupidest part of this whole rivalry is that gooks don't even know how to shill their comics properly.

They're terrible salespeople.

>I read it too but it's a huge clusterfuck right now.
What a shame, I thought the premise was good and I liked what I read of it at the time, which admittedly was a really long time ago.

>>143390172
I always thought it reminded me more of Bleach because of the weird and exaggerated fashion and something about the art reminded me of Kubo's style.

I don't think you can read Peerless before reading Sakigake Otokojuku since everyone in it and every big moment in it is just a rehash of existing characters and moment in SO. It's outrageously over the top. Miyashita is a such a bad, and at the same time good, mangaka.

I remember reading the first few chapters and I wasn't too impressed but I think at that point I wasn't looking for something as episodic as it seemed initially. Are there any reoccurring characters or plot lines at all?
>>
>>143392037
A few recurring characters and the story is built around little arcs, so there is clear plot progression. It's really nice, the anime is also good but I prefer the manga because it shows that the MC, despite being basically a god tier bartender, still has things to learn from his seniors and peers. In the anime he's too perfect.

>>
>>143389139
Majo no Shizou was good, but I would have preferred for it to not have a proper conclusion like it had, or better said, not one that took so much time.
Episodic stories from the witch in search for her heart until she finds it in the last chapter would have been better in my opinion. The episodic chapters were better than the main plot.

What else there is for loli fantasy? I love it as well but haven't seen much about it.

both of those series are enjoyable. The second one is very loosely based off of an actual person

It's certainly not the first time, but it's a relatively modern development and remains a minority attitude. Again, this isn't counting shitty sites that turn manga into eyecancer, obviously most people call those out if someone mentions using them.

I just caught up to Baki Dou, man Itagaki went full Nippon Banzai. We've got Samurai > all, glorious unbreakable katanas that slice through tanks with ease, even though literally one of the first feats of strength in the manga was Yujiro snapping a katana with his fingers from the sharp side!

Yes and no. Like any story hunter-borne, there's probably something behind it. In this case, I'm sure that in real deep snow, it's easier to retract your steps by stepping in your old traces but then it becomes obvious that the trail was used both ways.

From afar, I guess you could be fooled.

P.S. Latest chapters had me in stitches.

So am I the only one who avoids ongoing manga? I don't like having too many things on my plate at the same time so I don't wanna end up having 25+ ongoing manga to read but unfortunately I feel this restricts me from reading some great series.
>>
>>143398666
I just finished it, shit goes off the rails! I think Yujiro is my favorite "big muscular dude", his only gimmick is being retardedly strong, but damn does he make it work!
>>
>>143404728
No, I also hardly read any ongoing manga anymore. It's more fun to just sit down and marathon an already complete series.
>>
>>143404728
You're definitely not the only one, I see people saying this all the time. It always seems silly to me, though. If you like something enough to read it, why would you wait years in the hopes that it will be fully translated, rather than just reading what you can now?
>>
>>143404954
I hate having too much "clutter" in my life. Following 25+ series and swapping back and forth between them every time would honestly bother me a decent amount. It's simply a mental thing that I haven't gotten over yet.
>>
>>143404605
Yeah, but the main character is such a douche I'm starting to go a little sour on it. I'll reserve judgement until the first volume gets translated, hopefully before the sun burns out, just incase the story is about him getting assfucked by his own stupid decisions.
>>
Jesus what a dull manga thread. Not that I'm contributing right now.

I try to not do it, but there is always a manga that I can't help but read it for some reason.

Sorry for late reply but on the off chance you see this.

Yes both are great reads. Otoyomegatari in particular is adorable, I recommend it to anyone who will listen. Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago is more about harem intrigue and politics but it also has more sex(only implied, never shown).

But I only have like 15 manga there so there's a bunch missing.
>>
I don't keep fully up to date with my manga, and instead I usually let it pile up for a couple of months and then read a bunch in one go. So I have a lot of ongoing series right now.

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko
Flying Witch
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
Demi-chan wa Kataritai
Okama Hakusho
Barakamon
Shinozaki-san ki wo Ota Shika ni!
Gekkan-Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Dungeon Meshi
Okusan
Helck
Nomi Joshi
Kanojo wa Rokurokubi
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san
Stravaganza ~Isai no Hime~
Vinland Saga
Bakuon!!
Odman 11
Ayame to Amane
Golden Kamui
Boku wa Ohime-sama ni Narenai
Neko Musume Michikusa Nikki
Hinamatsuri
Jyoshikausei

And a bunch of other things I didn't feel like listing.
>>
>>143404728
I tend to prioritize reading completed series when I go through my backlog, but I still read ongoing series because it's easier to find discussion about it somewhere. It's also easier to find merchandise or magazine copies or whatever for these series, compared to the other many-years-old favorites where I want to find something to buy for them but there's nothing available anymore.

But he's a graduate of the american high school system. No Child Left Behind Act improved schools by reducing teacher and school system compensation if they didn't graduate more students, promote more students to the next higher grade, and give students higher test scores.

Picture is from the non-plebe-tastes manga "Anal Justice". Although it's a mainstream manga since it doesn't depict the actual hardcore sex acts, thus it is not a hentai manga. It's not a manga for those with plebe tastes.

In this non-plebe-tastes manga, if you have a penis and testicles, it is fully acceptable for males to ejaculate in your anus if you are wearing female clothing.

So you like shitting on hard working scanlators whose work is stolen by reader sites ? Kill yourself in a painful fashion.
>>
>>143404428
>EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW progress.
scanlate it yourself then, spoonfed baby.
>>
Any scanlating groups want to pick up Dainihon Samurai Girl? (It's not the same as the one Cafe con Irst did)

http://sai-zen-sen.jp/works/comics/samuraigirl-cmcs/01/01.html

It's a pretty far right wing manga and I want to know what it's about, for shits and giggles.

>stelaing muh stolen work

The only reason to be a scanlator is to share manga with more people, what does it matter where they read it?

Wish fulfillment isn't bad, just that the MC dampens the entertainment value a lot by being a faggot. Maybe if he turns the tsun down this might turn better but other than that it's just >entertainment for your penis with an unlikable MC.
>>
>>143423055
NTR was the doujins for that manga. Oku-san pretty much loves her husband.
>>
>>143423582
i'd say it's a problem if they profit off it. not that all of them do, also i'm not talking about just a few hundred bux of donations.
the scanlator certainly didn't do it so that some chinks can make an industry out of their free work. i'd go as far as to say that it goes against the spirit of piracy.

>What ongoing series are you following, and which are your favorite?
I'm following way too many titles to post them all here so I'll just name my favorites.
Yotsuba&!
Jojolion
Hajime no Ippo
Kiss x Sis
Neko Musume
Saki (and spin offs)
TLR
Tsugumomo
UQ Holder
Vinland Saga
Ryushika Ryushika
Gakkou Kaidan
Fudatsuki no Kyouko-chan
Chikyuu no Houkago
Hinamatsuri
Takuan
>Any older series you finished recently?
I just finished Sakigake!! Otokojuku. Yesterday I started reading Maison Ikkoku.
Otokojuku was pretty alright. It encompasses both the good and the bad of ultra manly manga, which is alright in my book. I'm surprised people don't mention its zaniness and parodistic elements when talking about it and instead they focus on it being "manly" and having "manly moments" and "manly fights".
MI is pretty fun so far. I'm reading it physical which is something I rarely do, especially considering it's a blind read. I'm enjoying it, though.
>>
>>143423055
>>143423834
Is it any good beyond the fans service?
>>
>>143425649
I've been meaning to read Otokojuku since i like over the top shonens.

Maison Ikkoku is one of the most miserable things i ever read.
>>
Am i the only one not actively following any ongoing series? I prefer to read completed ones, and all my ongoing are on hold so i can read them 1 full arc at a time.

Quality posts, newfags. Now fuck off and lurk before posting next time.
>>

>this "lurk more" faggot
it's hard to find out shit by lurking if people only ever use the acronym, retard.
>>
>>143429371
But they don't. I see ten results for the full name in the last 24 hours in the archive, including a couple links. Again, lurk more, this is the equivalent of asking what MAL is.

Not likely, considering half the time people post about MAL they also have a screenshot shitting on some retards awful opinions.
Also, how exactly would you suggest I look up the full name in the archive... if I don't know the full name and was asking such, friendo?
INB4 you talk about how Summer it is in here next.

Fourteen v01 c03 - 039.jpg

I'm following (and handful more):
Dungeon Meshi
Golden Kamui
Boku Girl
Takagi-san
Fire Punch
Koi wa Ameagari no Yoni
Nozaki-kun
Prison School and Tokyo Ghoul although I'm bored of both

The last one I finished is Sengoku Youko. It was great, but I still like Hoshi no Samidare better.

Now I'm halfway through Fourteen, which is even more bizarre than I expected from the premise

What would you consider to be the fundamental pillars of manga?

I suppose it's kind of a bad question considering manga is a medium, not a genre.

How does kissmanga shit on them? It isn't like mangafox where they put their shitty watermark all over it, they keep the credit pages from the scanslators, they dont downsize the images, and it isn't ran by SJW like batoto that don't allow manga with hetereo fanservice but its fine if its full of gay shit.

That said I will go to the scanslator's website when they have it. I don't like dealing with bots on IRC, so if all they have is an IRC then I'll go to kissmanga to read their mango.
