I dunno, I'd think if berserker armor basically took over someone they'd be a lot less chill than skull knight is, Guts becomes a metal wolfman/killing machine when the armor gets the better of him temporarily. Guts and Skull are implied to have very similar circumstances so I'd think Skull would be a lot more angry abd a lot less coherent if he was just berserker armor with a lingering grudge.

What the fuck are you people going about? This is the calm before the storm. The golden age was the same thing right before Griffith's imprisonment. It wasn't filled with as much comedic relief but it was tonally different from the incredibly bleak and depressing arcs that followed after. I don't see how the party now is different aside from puck, isma and isidro never shutting up.

There's still a world overrun with monsters, falconia obviously being a giant sacrifice(it sounds pretty familiar to what happened to the old capital underneath the tower), the beast of darkness had been foreshadowed to go wild in earlier arcs, and so on.

And let's not forget how dark the ganishka arc was which wasn't too many chapters ago from now. It may have came out years ago sure, but it's not too many chapters ago from now.

I agree for the most part, I just caught up with the series over the past week, and speaking chapters wise it wasn't so long ago that horrific shit was going down. The worst part about the more recent arc where those pirate tentacles if anything, really throws off the horror element to have some goofball pirates get absorbed by a sea monster but still remain goofball pirates.

I'd also add that it fits with the current plot developments that things seem rosey at this point. Griffith did literally make the world into a fairy tale afterall.

I'm not exactly sold on the idea that we're about to get an eclipse 2.0 featuring Guts' new party but I do think something very similar is going to come about, however it might be possible that Guts will finally be in a position to both recognize and protect those he cares about.

Luca, Laban, Owen and everyone else in Bird Town is fucked though, I'm just glad Rickert got out and simultaneously formed an assassin/science/magic dream team.

Met shitty dentist when I was a kid, afraid to go to dentist ever since.
Later somewhere in my 20 depression hits, can barely find energy to fart, much less flossing.
30 yo me, most of teeth are root deep black, get a puss in one, it is removed even tho I was shitting myself on a chair and was sure end up with hearth failure from stress.
Couple years later another teeth have puss in it, dentist tells me he prefer if I go to another doctor since too much needs to be removed.

Go to another dentist, supposedly the best where I live, visit goes bad, when he starts pulling I still feel shit, not much but I have no idea whether the pain gets worse or what, I grab his hand, he tells me "let go of me" I let go, tooth is removed.
When I exit his cabinet I start swaying on my legs, he tells me to go back in chair.
I go back in chair, he change chair position to horizontal and just hits me in the chest, I am too much stunned to even consider whether its a proper medical procedure.

When I went to him one week later to pull out the seams I am telling him I have puss in another teeth and afraid it will be painful to pull with puss.
Ask for antibiotic, he tells it wont help anyway so he wont give me, I try to at least buy some better painkillers, he says nothing will help anyway since if there is puss it will be painful.

Go home and have nightmares for a months to come.
Year later I have 3 teeth with puss, from one puss just got drained naturally but its been for a few weeks like that, its not a solution but I cant force myself to go to another public healthcare dentist and I dont have cash for a good dentists.

Feel like dying over here.

I feel like part of the reason some people have a dislike for new Berserk has to do a lot with the slow trickle of chapters. Lots of the recent chapters feel feel filleresque, which is okay for a weekly series, but with how goddamn slow Berserk is to come out it makes the story feel absolutely stagnant. We're stuck discussing the latest chapters in which relatively little interesting happens, and it's hard to tell what the story is building towards, whether it's going to continue more lighthearted or plunge us back into suffering and darkness.

Then he gets tossed around and punched by beings that could literally knock men's heads off with ease and comes out with a few scratches or cuts.

Still it doesn't feel so incredibly crazy does it? Or maybe it is and I just really want a badass like guts to be able to exist.

I'm not at all fond of how Skellig has turned out - or rather, how it depicts magic/its magic user population.

Like, first we get Flora and Shierke. Flora is an ancient, kindly, mysterious witch. Magic is shown as something ritualistic, in touch with nature and personal, passed on from teacher to student - from Flora to Shierke, then Shierke to Farnese.

Then we had Daiba, Ganishka and Kushan magic. It was different, but in the case of Daiba it was still very mystical. Ganishka's magic was some straight up horrific demonic shit.

But now with Skellig, magic seems really fucking trivialised or silly. It's literally Hogwarts. I know Skellig is meant to be very secluded and not nearly as fucked as the rest of the world, but having all these kid wizards in uniforms being taught in classes really makes Berserk magic seem way less mystical and potentially dangerous.

What if it's not about Puck's return and more about the activation of the Behelit?

I'm wondering if this country can handle itself against an Eclipse. As terrible as it was, Guts' one had monsters that didn't look that strong and the sacrifices were relatively ordinary people. The Main Party now is stronger than ever, powered by supernatural means, and that village is filled with magic users. Surely Griffith's lieutenants look like bigger threats than other apostles ever were, but still... and we didn't even see the Elven King.

People complain that things are peaceful, but that's expected. If Guts never gets stronger (powerful allies are part of it), he'll never grow as a danger to Griffith. By becoming more powerful, of course his life won't be a nightmare as before. Besides, thinking this manga is only about gore and rape is a very shallow way of facing it, there are so many mysteries, mechanics, stories, places and characters to be explored.

Well like you said first, it's an isolated island.
I don't think it's less "scary", they are lost children, in a time sinkhole, they are giving their lives in time to learn the secrets of nature. If they had any family before, they are dead now, everything they knew is gone... it's a paradise but only inside, as you can see in the desperation of tittiy witch, or that Flora didn't live there either.
Also what they learn is still quite Berserk-y, the cage of burning souls was pretty nice.
