Here's the problem with your example on the husband and wife, there are too many variables. You say that people don't understand many things, but you seem to not understand the concept of feelings in general. You seem to be under the assumption that strong feelings stay strong as opposed to what actually happens which is they grow and wane in strength. And explicitly based on infatuation. Neither Sakura nor Syaoran got to any meaningful stage with their first crush beyond getting awed by that person's awesomeness. It was when Sakura saw beyond her image Yukito that she realize his flaws and feelings and accepted those moving on from her own feelings for him. That was actually very thoughtful from her part. Syaoran was simply impressed by him and it was a plot point magic people attracting each other just like Kaho made Sakura feelings happy just because.

At the end bot got to learn to differentiate allurance from genuine love born from actual understanding and time invested with one another which made their feelings less "idealized" and more solid.

Ideal not always means best. I think this was one of the morals of the show.

However, just because your feelings for one person aren't "strong" as you put does not mean that you don't eventually learn to gain those strong feelings for someone else through time, and learning to understand someone.
