Path 3: Odd Eyes taken, Yuya suddenly has a vision again like in synchro with Tuning magician and xyz summons a rank 5 monster of his own through his yellow magician and Daggerman.

I have to agree. Arc-V has pretty much lost its budget entirely, its ratings are plummeting. They haven't even made another Sound Duel because they can't afford to make physical copies of it. Reiji had to be written out since they couldn't afford him. Everyone is getting cut out of duels except for Yuya and Shun, and even Shun had to be semi-kill since they can't afford Nossan. We're leaving Xyz early since they can't afford Edo, and I'm not surprised that eventually they won't be able to afford even Yuya.

The moment everyone knew that Arc-V had dropped the ball was the Yoko duel, and slowly realizing that in Synchro we weren't going to have the Lancers dueling on their monsters via Solid Vision to combat Security on D-Wheels and the lack of character interaction meant the budget was gone. I was disgusted when I learned we weren't going to have Yuya and Yugo duel because I was finally aware that them interacting would advance the plot, and Synchro was nothing but filler. All the Xyz dimension is the death throes of a dying series, desperate to garner attention, but not being able to do it. The anime is dead. Our salvation lies in the manga.

Imo, Arc-V rarely gets outright explicitly awful for as long as other low points in Yugioh's past, but it never really hits highs as high either.

It kind of hovers a little above and a little below (a lot of time a little below, desu) just 'okay'. Normally I automatically lower my standards for children's anime, but how bent on mediocrity (or again, a little below that) Arc-V is makes it somewhat disheartening. There's rarely a feeling of impact or catharsis, or even cheap thrills in the spectacle of a ridiculous doppelganger & dimension plot where one half of them has an inner edgy darkness because reasons.

I'm just hoping the last stretch hits some kind of highs before the series is snuffed out for the next.

Bit too slowly paced for the first 20 eps, but it was really fun and easily my second favorite part of the series, below Maiami Championship, but above Pre-Maiami.

Riddle me this, if they were having such a prolonged issue with affording voice actors behind the scenes, why would they even consider Edo/Akira Ishida as the legacy character in the first place, instead of a reasonable 2nd choice like Johan or Manjoume?

The logic that it's the seiyuu's costs that are the scourge of Arc-V (rather than poor direction/writing or the shilling nature of the show) has a lot of holes in it by the fact that there were always cheaper 2nd choices available from the very start, since Arc-V's (original) cast would all have been auditioned for.

It's both, insofar as a YGO series is concerned. It's awesome the past series are basically represented by dimensions while old characters return. What makes it even better is YGO-specific: summoning methods being from different dimensions. If you knew nothing about Arc-V, the idea of past series and summoning methods being rep'd by dimensions is very interesting. Arc-V executed it horribly in part due to all YGO series being a marketing ploy to sell cards. The shilling screwed with a large part of Arc-V's potential. Then we have the movie. The animation budget was drastically reduced. The combination of a flawed execution due to shilling and bad animation because of a low budget is what has made Arc-V rather underwhelming for what many of us expected. Most of Standard and the final battle of Synchro was executed perfectly. People should've known that Xyz was going to be rather lackluster by episode 100 because all of Heartland is rubble AND the lady that Yuya saved told us that the Resistance was killed off. Also Yuto not being in the flesh for his own dimension was bullshit.

... Noro mentioned that there were less than 3 days left until the Arc Area Project in Xyz. 10 days elapsed during Synchro, and there were 46 episodes of it. That means we should've expected slightly less than 15 episodes of Xyz - which is what we're getting.

Well we see that Smile World was activated in the preview as well as the fact that Yuya is jumping along the Solid Vision platforms before Edo pulls him down. So that means that once Yuya draws for his turn, there will be one unknown card.
It's likely that the new magician looking monster will keep Yuya from getting hit by Dystopiaguy. It is probable that Edo's final card will let him steal Odd Eyes.

Edo in GX was overly emotional for a reason while in this show he looks like he is throwing a tantrum when he loses to Yusho and ties with Yuya. Nothing has shown us why he's so loyal. Nothing has shown us why he's so angry at Yusho. Losing that duel wasn't good enough. Edo in GX was loyal to Saiou because Saiou came into his life right after his father died and they became best friends. He believed in Saiou and Saiou's power because it had always been correct. Arc-V Edo doesn't have the backstory and neither does Leo for that to work for him. Arc-V Edo is a parody of GX Edo.

Barian slice of life had great duels mixed in it and better characters. Alito was fun as hell as was Girag. Those were fun characters and Girag spazzing out in his tag duel with Yuma against Cathy and Kotori was great. Him realizing that if they lost he'd die and then realizing that he was the one who told Yuma to throw the duel made for fun character interaction. It showed a different side to the Barians who were supposed to be this evil force hell bent on destroying the world.

Edo in Arc-V is loyal because he's been raised in a militaristic environment that breeds dogmatic cult-like loyalty and Yusho just so happened to be the first time he met anything that contradicted virtually his entire way of life (which was also deemed always correct by everyone of Academia and by the results of the XYZ invasion).

It's a fairly straightforward and reasonable backstory and a decent counterpart to GX Edo.

Yeah no. I'm not on the Zexal hate bandwagon. You can say it has bad duels but I won't. I've actually watched the show and enjoy the duels.

Both were still threatening in their duels. Their "bumbling" added to their characters and didn't detract from their effectiveness. Alito in particular had really cool duels against Yuma and his pride in wanting to fight Yuma fairly to the point of defeating Girag's ambush was nice.

You can't talk about villain credibility while defending Arc-V. The show that shits on its villains right after introducing them. The Tyler Sisters and Edo are wastes of time.

Furthermore, the fact that everyone in fusion dimension aside XYZ defectors supports academia means that no matter what, even if he didn't follow academia for long, he would've been brought up in a situation where he was led to support academia.

Oh, the guy standing next to Eve is named Ren, and although he wears a mask he has the same hair style as Reiji if you'll notice. His kanji (蓮) is "lotus flower", and he uses a "White" (ホワイト, which is phonetic for "white") Synchro deck. He knows Yusho and Leo, which means they ARE in the manga, and they both triggered the "World Illusion" event, which has yet to be described.

We've only seen a small part of fusion dimension. We don't know how the people outside of that small town deal with Academia. We don't know if there are deserters who are supported by their families or anything. The show is just focused on a small part of the dimension. Edo in Arc-V doesn't have enough backstory to make definitive answers on his upbringing. Especially when compared to GX Edo who we know about from childhood to the present day. It's insulting to say that Arc-V Edo is anywhere near the character as his original self.

It's less outright "wrong" and more honestly kinda hit or miss with a lot of them.

Reiji is a NEET, but he's a NEET whose mindset we've grown to understand more as the show's gone on, still needs way more focus though.

I figured that was all we were gonna get for Reira since it covered everything we needed to know about his past, and I think his arc was really well handled.

Yuzu at least did have a few solid moments of real importance in Synchro, so it wasn't all for naught, but she desperately needs more relevant screentime in Fusion to make up for it.

Sawatari is the comic relief and I kinda find it charming that while he slowly becomes nicer and a bit more cautious over time, he largely stays the same.

Gon needs more love.

Yuya at least is justifying it now as a way of holding off hitotsu ni, so I don't have an issue with that and I like that whenever he fails to connect with his blanket egaoing now, he goes straight to the talking with dueling thing that Jack taught him to aim for by trying to aim for solidarity in summoning methods.

No because he's being changed to quickly. If he's as brainwashed as you are saying he is then he shouldn't be falling for the egao so easily. GX Edo had a multitude of problems that didn't get solved by dueling Judai. Dueling Judai just made him appreciate his cards and remember how he felt about his dad creating Heroes. Edo doesn't even have a connection to his cards in Arc-V. They're just cards. They don't have personality or anything. They're boring. He's boring. He's one note. He isn't important enough to do anything later on.

Lets say he confronts Leo. We all know he's getting beaten by him. Edo is a waste of a cameo and a waste of a character.

Is that how it works though? I thought hitotsu ni only happened when Yuya was under some extreme mental or physical stress.

It made sense the first time he went into berserk mode because that guy was literally beating him up in the duel. It also made sense in Synchro because of the chip Roger put on him that messed up his brainwaves. It also made sense in his duel against Barett because Yuya became frustrated trying to find a way out of Barett's lock and he was more preoccupied with saving Yuzu who was right in front of him.

I feel even if he foregoes the EGAO and just duels with a simple purpose in mind, or with a clear mind that should be enough to keep the HITOTSU NI away. Surely, he's internally strong enough that he does not need to rely on EGAO 24/7?
