I think that the article is just a speculation. They say that the chance of getting a sequel depends of course on BD sales, with the general ~5000 BD rule, but there are also other factors involved.

Wasn't it doing better than Sansha Sanyou at some point in the season? I enjoy both shows but it's depressing that the sales were likely split between two enjoyable SoL series. At the moment, Sansha Sanyou is projected to sell far above Anne Happy. Though it's also much older with the source material.

Sansha's currently at 2605 (Amazon BD/DVD/Regular/Special ed.) But unlike Anne Happy, it did have an event ticket.

I think publicity is always a factor on whether or not a show will sell, as well as if there's extras worth buying on the DVD or if there's simply a ticket.

Kuma Miko, Flying Witch, and Bakuon all started really fucking strong. After that, Sansha modestly trailed behind because hey it was still a Dogakobo show and well Unhappy just barely scraped by.

And just one and a half month ago Kuma Miko and especially Bakuon surprisingly tapered off while Flying Witch stayed consistent on the top. In that regard, Sansha as well remained consistent but not on the same level as Flying Witch while Unhappy flip flopped a fuckton with some really fucking good episodes and then suddenly some relatively average ones. Then it sort of just shot up really high after nonstop fantastic episodes and suddenly it's now only second to Flying Witch during that time but I think that spike in popularity was a little too late.

All in all, the trends and popularity spikes honestly went as I expected. I think Unhappy is probably underestimated by stalker and it will probably break even but that's about it.

Not sure if it's accurate but people were describing that Kuma Miko sales dropped like a sack of bricks with the anime original episodes for the finale. I can definitely see people cancelling pre-orders after the outrage from Japs.

I agree that the estimates are very conservative but I would have liked for Anne Happy to do better. Even with good sales though, we would have to wait for more source material to adapt.

Anne Happy started off slowly. It only got good after ep4 and probably ended up being one of the top show of the season.

I still question how Hibari deserves to be in the class. The others misfortunes are basically supernatural in effect and strength. Hibiki could get lost walking down a one way hallway with no doors or windows, Ren attracts hordes of animals, nne is Anne.

And Hibari....loves a construction sign. It seems a lot more tame and more just a treatable minor mental illness (if even harmful at all) than a misfortune.

Yes but that's really all there is to it. She never really has that self-loathing personality get in the way of her life despite all shit she says. In fact, she surprisingly has a lot of initiative when it comes to friendship and improving herself. However, here we have Hibari who's almost always one step away from actual depression and is genuinely beating herself over so much shit due to her always being ashamed of not only her crush but herself as a person.

And no I'm not even over analyzing this, the show specifically shows it through out its episodes.

Watching this show has been the happiest I've been in years, not a single episode failed to make me smile, and now that it's over I legitimately feel lost

This is actually a class for kids who have developed a mental illness that prevents them from acknowledging that everyone in their world has super powers, including themselves. The series is told through their eyes which is why everything appears normal.

Ren = Pheromone production that causes intense attraction/obsession in women
>Hibari = Communication with inanimate objects, but her mental block is preventing her from hearing them talk back (mascot really is her boyfriend).
>Anne = Luck manipulation, but but her block is preventing her from controlling it causing it to go wild around her.
>Botan = A physical alteration/mutation. The reason she is always injuring herself is that she's trying to move a non-human body in a human way.
>Hibiki = Future sight. Her vision randomly jumps to several moments in the future. She thinks she's looking at it in the present and walks in the direction she sees, which often ends up being different from the direction she is currently facing.

The purpose of the class is to get them to unconsiously control their abilities to prevent them from running wild and hurting themselves and others. Thats why the tests and activities that will cause them extreme stress are done so far from others.

It's not bad and has its moments, but it feels like it never consistently went to the limits of its concept. Some shows, even if their basic idea is goofy, will use it to its limits, thus truly creating its own coherent universe (in their own conception of what is coherent). On top of my head I could cite GuP, Fantasista Doll, the first season of Symphogear, maybe Gochiusa, Teekyuu. That doesn't make them great works of art, but it's interesting and usually creates hidden gems with a healthy mix of good and bad. Anne Happy doesn't make the cut in my opinion, even if it's not far from it.

7/10. Would be 8 or even 9 if they gradually made each episode crazier while more clearly delineating an overreaching plot (including character development). But then it wouldn't be an ad for the manga anymore.
