I just thought he was okay at the start and as the show went on he slowly made his way to the bottom of my list. Maybe a part of me thinks that since Ichi is already so popular, he's not losing much if one less person cares.

I think I liked him more as the dark brother, since the other brothers already have their moe moments and spill their spaghetti plenty, so when those things were revealed about Ichi he didn't feel unique to me anymore.

In all honesty, I liked him more in cour 1 because it didn't feel like they were trying too hard to get people to like him outside of ep 5 in which I had to cringe a little and he was genuinely funny. The harder the staff try, the less appealing it is to me like with the girlymatsu and sanematsu.

In the anime he isn't obsessed, not in the merch either, aside from that Karamatsu-event thing.
Now to go from this fact to ignoring the blatant fujobait it's like closing your eyes in the scenes you don't want to see. Again, it's not the focus of the anime, it's just sprinkled here and there, but THERE IS a bit of pandering, and you can ask anyone which bits are which, they'll be able to answer you even if they aren't fujoshits.

The Drama CDs are kind of a wild card: they have more room to pander fujos (and blatantly do so in a couple CDs, see Osochoro and Karaichi), but at the same time have to keep the show's humour, so it's the second closest thing we have to "canon" stuff.

The manga could have taken the 2nd spot, but the author's style and humour is too "forced" and evident compared to the show's humour, so you kinda feel the different hand behind the gags.

Merch is literally made to sell, if a big chuunk of your buying fans are fujoshits, guess what? You pander to them.

"Canon" is retarded anyway in Osomatsu-san, they literally die and respawn, have jobs and lose them without explanation, alternate universes fucking everywhere both in the Anime, Manga and CD Dramas, so shut the fuck up about "canon", each iteration required official production and permissions from Pierrot, be it CD drama or the manga or even fucking merch (just be a sane person and consider them in their context)
