Hey miko, miko, just stay
I know you'll come after me
Oh bear, bear, I won't do anything

You've given up, huh?
Of course! After all, we've been together forever

Miko, miko, miko of Kumade Shrine
You're cute as can be,
but this village is just fine!

This ending was so wrong. Machi just became a completely dysfunctional human being, they broke her. I felt so bad.
>>
>>143087821
Some people are just not suited for city life
>>

It was a different kind of wrong than when I saw Yura's descent into madness in C3-Bu.

This was just something else.

I'm deleting all of my Machi lewds.

Twitter on the Nip side is still talking about the finale. They called Yoshio a psychopath and compared the finale to Minami-ke.

One tweet even says that they want to watch Flying Witch to douse the finale.

What was wrong with that? Unless there's a OVA I'm missing.

Took them that long to realise? He's been single handedly ruining the show the entire time.

90% of the ending was cute and fine. I guess the rock throwing delusions were to far but I don't think that ruined it.

That last couple of minute were adorable.

She's 14 and only wanted to go to that highschool on a whim without understanding the repercussions. I don't see how the town can be painted as demonic. Seems like an overreaction by people too hard on their progressive stance if you ask me.

I get that people here identify with Machi, but they're being too harsh, and also blind in regard to her qualities.

Despite failing hard, Machi always tried her best.
Also, she's a beautiful badass miko, can chop wood and cook rice at the fireplace. Yeah, maybe the scripting has been a bit sloppy in the end, but I wouldn't consider her "broken". It's a matter of perspective.

Fuck no, this is what's really depressing. I'll never be able to talk about this show again because you guys can't accept a simple status quo ending and somehow got the idea that Machi suffered a mindbreak.
>>
It's actually absurd seeing how 100 to 0 the general opinion of the nips were towards this show during these last few episodes.

Like holy shit and to think this was quite literally a massive it early on in the season. But hey, they still Machi is cute so there's that.

The status quo was Machi wanting to go to the city, status quo ending of Machi still wanting to go to the city, maybe making a little bit of progress but still mostly being an autismo wreck was what everyone was expecting

Besides, the ending is the only reason people might still talk to this outside of dumping art in a few seasons
>>
>>143089636
There are some anons in these threads taking the manga pages of Machi tickling Natsu and him telling her it's OK not to think anymore out of context to pretend it wasn't an anime original ending. No matter how much people correct them they keep coming back, in the same thread even. It has to be intentional shitposting at this point.

>>143088111
Now I can't see it any other way.
>>
Yoshio stopped being a caregiver and started being a miko abuser as the show went on.

He dangles rewards in front of Machi to get her to do humiliating things when he's not outright forcing her to do so.

>Where the fuck are Machi's parents anyway?
Ded.
Bear sacrifices are very real. Yoshio knows the score. He's the next village chief mate. Sacrifice the parents for a magic bear to worship. Bond the child to the bear.

A perfect system.

Yoshio can't let that go to waste. He knew her parents once. Machi belongs to the tribe. Their sacrifice cannot be in vain. She has a debt to the village just as they have a debt to her.
>>
>>143090678
The fun was seeing this cute creature bending and breaking in front of our eyes. She's just a broken toy now, useless and empty
>>
>>143090747
Yoshio still exists, which means Machi is still going to be tormented.

They'll probably start breeding Machi soon to make a replacement miko and then ritually sacrifice her to attach a human soul into a bear cub. It's important that she perfects her miko dances as they are part of the ritual.

Her grandma isn't really her grandma, just a caretaker designated by the village elders. Her mother's soul is trapped inside Natsu's body, that's how they get the bears to act protective towards the village mikos.

The ending is great and perfect. You fags actually wanted Machi to overcome her social anxiety? That would have been so stupid if it happened. Something as serious as that can't be overcome easily.

Machi just isn't suited to the city life, and it would have been much worse had she gone to a public school. No doubt she would be bullied and possibly end up committing suicide after all the abuse.
>>
>>143090766
Its completely different because Machi's given up. She wasn't bothered about understanding Mr Saito, she didnt make a serious effort to improve herself. You cant call it a status quo ending when the scene played out differently than every single Machi cant understand tech scene before it
>>
>>143090778
Machi managed to perform her ritual dance in front of a large crowd because she ignored all the people in there, when reality kicked back in she thought they were hazing her instead. After going back to the village, she told Natsu that she gave up on going to the city (after all her previous failures), and both of them continued living happily together.
People who were expecting Machi to overcome her social anxiety got buttblasted to the extreme and are treating this as the worst possible ending.

>>
>>143090838
I find it hilarious reading how much they hate it but at the same time it's also a testament to how much Machi is loved as a character.
>>
>>143090949

The whole idol shit was original. The actual ending scene was like 1 single page in the manga in which Machi woke up from a nightmare, which is basically a completely different situation. Basically they fucked up. The nips loved it until a few episodes ago then once they hit anime original territory they strongly disliked it. The ending did not help.
>>
So are there any characters left in this that aren't an irredeemable piece of shit? Besides Machi, of course.
>>
>>143091036
The first seeds of disdain showed up when Hibiki was first introduced. I think that was the first episode the nips really didn't like not only because of the shit Hibiki pulled but also because of the clothing brand shilling of the second half.
>>
>>143091040
Hibiki could, if she would stop lusting over the dick of a child-abusing salaryman.
>>
>>143091040
Yoshio is the only irredeemable piece of shit.
Bear is over-protective but still quite considerate of her.
Delinquent stood by her too.
>>
>>143091065

Oh yeah, those brand advertisements were obnoxious.
>>
>>143091036
>in which Machi woke up from a nightmare
You could say it was the same thing, since Machi woke up from the city nightmare in the anime too. Or if you don't want to be that deep, you can just look at those two pages as part of Machi's and Natsu's daily lives, and since they were adapted in the end they prove that they both went back to living as usual. Nothing to do with mind breaking or becoming a braindead retard holy fuck.
>>
The problem is the lack of catharsis.

I could accept Machi giving up if for example, they shown us Natsu begging her not to leave him or something.
>>
If the aim of the show was to boost the manga's numbers this ending might actually be brilliant.

End the anime by breaking the cute miko, so people have to switch to the manga to get the old Machi back along with a literal "it was all a dream, don't worry lads" scene to erase what happened.
>>

>>
>>143091067
>>143091068
Hibiki went along with whatever Yoshio said. She may have complained, but she always rolled over. In the end, she liked Yoshio, not Machi.

Natsu was worse than Yoshio. He wanted Machi to be dependent on him and fully understood the consequences of that. Yoshio was just using her, but Natsu actually wanted to mindbreak her.
>>
>>143091065

Most of them left by the halfway mark when they realized the show wasn't going to change.

I read the manga first, I laughed in the beginning of the series and called the people getting buttblasted over the bullying and sexualizing stupid, but as the series went on, I stopped laughing. Compared to the manga, the anime started really dragging out the bullying scenes and making them more graphic. In the manga they're much more brief and played off as a gag. And then they tried to force in this idol crap into it as an overarching story when it was barely brought up in the manga. And then these past couple of episodes with that ending where machi actually starts hallucinating and believing people were throwing rocks at her and giving up on her dream was just over the top.

The manga does a far better job of playing it off as a joke.

Urobuchi version: Machi, still wearing the ceremonial robes, wanders off the forest looking for Natsu. She eventually finds a bear in the woods, and attempts to embrace it. She gets mauled and, if she's lucky to escape, bleeds out.

They will build careers and families in the city. Machi will witness the adults die off one by one. They will eventually give up on the revitilization project and Kumade will end up as a ghost town.

The only people she's close to are Natsu, Yoshio and Hibiki. Natsu wants to keep her unable to do anything by herself, Yoshio only cares about revitalizing the village and while Hibiki does seem to care, in the end, she'll let Yoshio do whatever he wants. The people she's stuck being dependent on don't even really seem to care. Poor Machi, she didn't deserve any of this.

I agree that the anime original stuff was played pretty hard but it was something completely predictable. I saw the bullying as gags as it was obviously meant to be. Hallucination honestly does not feel too far-fetched for Machi since she has a very active imagination and she has been frequently possessed throughout the show which may have messed up her psyche.

>The good thing about Flying Witch is that it has been doing a good job in promoting the tourism in Aomori by having a light-hearted story that doesn't heavily affect the image of the neighborhood.
Yep, that's important. If you want to promote a city you need to make the inhabitants pleasant in their portrayal. Drama is unpleasant most of the time and easy to make people look bad.
>>
Yoshio recognizes the problem that the village is dying, and like a real tribal leader he comes up with the plan to sacrifice a maiden.

I'm a useless parasite to society myself and even I thought the ending was creepy. Becoming a leech should be voluntary, Machi clearly wanted to end her social anxiety but instead just ended up mindbroken. Loved the show though, strong contender for aots if it wasn't for the very last scene.

It's AOTS for me. This had a little of everything and was done pretty consistently well in terms of writing directing and production. I know nothing of the source material so I don't know if it's a great adaptation, but the anime was by far the best for me this season.

she tries to go all idol, but her imagination and social problems result in imagining an ovation from the crowd as being pelted by rocks instead, sending her into a severe panic and mental breakdown as she regresses into a childish state that forgot all about the city at the end

the manga cuts out of letting this happen, so the anime decided to end its season in the most twisted way possible

I'm one episode behind but if Machi is this fucking retarded then it's better if she stays in the village and becomes a broken piece of shit. All she had to do was to be normal and open her eyes. Fucking retard. Deserved all of it and more.

>>143099136
Anime expanded on the idea o making Machi into an idol as an overarching plot, the miko/hick bullying got a lot more focus, and the last several episodes were almost entirely anime original with Machi going to an idol contest in the city and suffering extreme social anxiety which caused her to have delusions of mistreatment and completely gives up on her dream of going to highschool in the city.

The manga does not get as bad as this and remains a slice of life comedy with an awkward miko.
>>

I know Nips see therapy as SHAMEFUR DISPRAY, but still, who could actually think this is a good fate for a 14yo girl?
>>
>>143098859
It's not really her fault. Her delusions are bad, yeah, but everyone around her either ignores or encourages them. Which has been her problem from the beginning, she basically has no one who earnestly wants to help her.

I haven't really been keeping up with the series but I'm guessing the underlying plot is that the villager has a curse that doesn't allow anyone to leave permanently and machi's attempts to move away are emotionally sabotaged?

For some reason I went from finding these reactions depressing to finding them all hilarious, holy shit. How the fuck do so many people completely miss the point of something at the same time? It's kind of amazing, almost as if every single one of you really picked the show expecting something and got extremely bothered by how you didn't get what you wanted. Hell there are even people calling it creepy in here, proving that there are outsiders in this thread.
>>143096234
>If Machi's goal from the start was to say "fuck off with your city idol shit, let me stay a Miko in the woods" then I would have been fine with her achieving that.
Think for a bit about what you said. Why would anyone's goal ever be "I don't want to change, staying as I am is fine"? Goals usually involve achieving something, you know.
>>
>>143091036
Everything anime original has been the worst parts about this, and everyone has hated it besides some edgelords here.

Machi getting pushed down and the rape undertones from Yoshio's bullying in the early episodes, having her head smashed into a post by Hibiki, the idol shit, the ending. Literally all of it has gotten the series a bunch of shit, and made it worse overall. Fuck whoever directed this.

> How the fuck do so many people completely miss the point of something at the same time?
What's the point then?
>>
>>143106251
That it's perfectly fine to let things stay as they are if you're happy enough, especially if you notice how dumb your previous goal was in first place. Were you expecting this girl who lived her entire life in an isolated community to swiftly overcome her social anxiety through GUTS alone, after seeing how much pain she went through? Understanding that she doesn't need to change counts as character growth too.
>>
>>143106557

Nobody was expecting this, I just wanted the show to stay a comedy with some social anxiety moments, like this episode when she works, not something that depressing.

You typed that out and you really can't see a difference between those two? 2 pages where she has a nightmare, wakes up and all is well. Or multiple episodes forcing her into some idol shit, her breaking down and panicking then completely giving up on the dream she's been wanting for 10 episodes prior. There's quite a difference between those two scenarios.

I'm just saying that you're looking at both situations with different eyes because you want them to be different, when they are basically the same thing. Machi's even behaving the same way as she always did in both, but apparently since she suffered before acting like that in the anime then it's a sign that her mind is damaged? Okay then.

I picked up this anime in the hopes that it would be my comfy comedy SOL for the season. The first several episodes I really enjoyed but when it took a darker turn it really turned me off then it just kept hammering away at the social anxiety aspect over and over...

I am kind of glad that it did not just take the cookie cutter approach to anime and actually had a twist I did not see coming even if I did not really enjoy myself during the last half off the season. Also I am REALLY glad that the last episode ended the way it did. Social anxiety disorder is not something that someone overcomes with some quick flash of insight, the show ended the way it had to end in order for it to be in any way realistic.

I can see why people are upset, for the same reasons I feel let down, we didn't get our comfy anime we wanted or that the manga was focused on (I assume I did not read it); however I think people should try to appreciate this for what it is after all we don't really need cookie-cutter anime 287 in the comfy SOL genre do we?

Yoshio is the only one willing to step up and do what needs to be done to save the village. They're literally dying out, and no one is doing anything about it.

The old folk just work, sleep and get drunk, in no particular order. Natsu is a NEET bear. Biki is a violent bitch who lusts to be a kawaii housewaifu but just can't accept it. The aging christmas keiki is terrified of men and just keeps screaming SEXUAL HARASSMENT at them whenever they're around (she's taught the little girl in the village to do the same) Machi is a dysfunctional human bean incapable of living in modern society.

Yoshio is the only one trying to solve the social problem they're facing. Is he a psychopath? Maybe. Maybe he just appears to have a heart of stone because he's trying to save his people.

I can ignore the weird set-up in the episode with the little girl encouraging Machi. I can ignore the general progression of her character and the hurdles that are expected to be overcome. I can even ignore the borderline sociopathic secondary characters.

No its different. In erased, what was seemingly stable all throughout the series was the romantic buildup which was all for naught. It made a 360.

In KM, what was constant was the writer's bullying. It never stopped. I kind of expected it wouldnt, but it just went too far with the ending.

Even in the anime that butchered up the story because the director was a waifufag, he never really had romantic feelings for Kayo. On top of that, the people that think she "owed" him her love are stupid because Airi saved him the same way he saved Kayo, and by that logic he owed Airi his love.

The people involved in this episode are Episode Director and Storyboarder Kiyoshi Matsuda (who also directed Episode 1), Scriptwriter Pierre Sugiura, and Series Director Kiyoshi Matsuda.

Chances are that Sugiura had plans for the Episode 12 script but fellow scriptwriter Masao Iketani had other ideas.

People actually getting this ass-blasted this show didn't go the way they wanted it to really is something else. Ijime Connect was close, but the staff involved still got away and only the ones with a discernable public face (i.e., the voice talents and eufonius) were directly affected.

>>143123029
It's about Minami-ke Okaeri. I haven't watched the show, so no idea about why it was as depressing as KMMK. Anyone who is willing to explain why, please do.

>>143123122
Some are comparing it to Shiki, in the way that the unusual people aren't the vampires (or Machi in KMMK's case), but the humans (the villagers of Kumade). A revisit of the story made other people realize that it was a psychological thriller beneath the comedic sights and sounds. Ironically, it did the job better than Mayoiga, which became an unintentional comedy.
>>
>>143123122
>I can get that it may not have resolved into a tight, neat fairy-tale "you can be anything you want if you try" ending, but the way some people are acting, you'd have thought they pulled a nice boat or something.
It is the effect of genre shift. The audience did not expect the main character to have a mental breakdown.

Nice Boat was EXPECTED, it was what the original game was famous for. No one cared about School Days for the happy endings. But Kuma Miko wasn't meant to be about the insanity of a little girl.

>The audience did not expect the main character to have a mental breakdown.
Holy shit, are people actually this dumb to not see it coming? From the way the episode was going, it was at most a 50/50 for me. Seeing Machi get up on stage made me see that she at least stands a small chance at overcoming that anxiety but come on, her character has been portrayed as overly anxious through and through. Honestly, it would have been more boring if she did overcome it like a sappy happy Nickelodeon teen series.
>>
>>143123198
>It's about Minami-ke Okaeri.
I think it's about Okawari actually, the most disliked Minami-ke. Basically they introduced one and only original anime character, who was bluntly said boring, gloomy, out of place and drag the show down. Quite the opposite of Minami-ke characters. Overall he made it less fun. Fortunately they got rid of him somewhere in the middle of season, but Okawari didn't recover.

>psychological thriller

I just don't see it at all. Again, yes, it wasn't all happy endings, but if you look at the manga, it's really all just gags. It's about her life and daily issues, the lives of those around her, and yes, while some of the gags and jokes can be a bit mean spirited, it's still pretty upbeat. Maybe you can say the anime didn't do as great a job at presenting that, but to say it was meant as some horror show is just way off base.

>>143123220
It wasn't a mental breakdown though. Again, perhaps you can say the execution was a bit off, but it really was just her accepting that the city wasn't for her. The rest is just attempting to translate the humor of the manga to an anime, in regards to the gags about her problems.
>>
>>143123444
>Holy shit, are people actually this dumb to not see it coming?
That's like saying you expect the hero in a shonen to be killed by the evil antagonist. What is "more likely" doesn't make a good narrative.
>>
>>143123184
Deliberate troll ending VS ending in which the backlash was unintentional and chased the writer off twitter

That's an odd definition of "cycle repeated"
>>
>>143123220
>The audience did not expect the main character to have a mental breakdown.
But Machi had been having problems like that every single time she was forced into a social situation. Don't tell me everyone forgot how bad it got when she tried to go into that weird store.
Seeing so many people at the same time was so much of a shock for her that she only managed to get her brain working properly once she heard Natsu's voice and found a way to ignore everyone, but as soon as she went back to reality she started breaking down again.
And what the fuck, how come this kind of post comes and goes in waves?
>>
>>143123505
>she loses her fucking mind and regresses into a toddler?
She went back to how she's always been. If she became a toddler in the end than she was always a toddler ever since the first episode.

>I just don't see it at all. Again, yes, it wasn't all happy endings, but if you look at the manga, it's really all just gags. Well, that's the manga, and whatever happened to KMMK in which one episode affected the rest of the show isn't really a new thing. It had happened before in Episode 10 of Madoka, for example.

In KMMK's case, the viewers began seeing the shenanigans before the last story arc as having a more negative image in hindsight as an effect of Episode 12. They were laughing at the bullying and the lewds until Episode 12 came as a wake up call.
>>
>>143123392
Thanks.

>>143123444
No you see it's a fucking betrayal of expectations. When the anime first came out, the nips fucking loved it. It was just a silly little series about a girl who doesn't know about the city and her talking bear. Sure she acted timid sometimes and was a bit dumb but largely the humor just revolved around her being a country bumpkin. Machi was god damn cute, she had a nice new VA, and the show wasn't afraid to lewd her up a little bit or even poke fun and tease her. Everything was all in good jest and it probably was up 'til the very end but obviously the nips think that way.

Kuma Miko was surprisingly a hit, it had some really good reception during the early part and the elevens especially enjoyed the dress-up chapter, they thought Yoshio forcefully stripping Machi was still funny, as well as that entire DJ Natsu episode.

But then Hibiki showed up and people were just generally turned off towards the segment of her meeting Machi and the really dull convenience store episode following that. The show got back up again and continued as usual until the first signs of genuine paranoia and social anxiety showed up in Machi, the part with Hibiki wasn't just a one off deal, and then heads started turning. And well you can pretty much guess how the reception for this show nosedived until the very last episode.

Look man. They came for the cute antics of a dumb country bumpkin with her technologically-savvy bear.
They sure as hell didn't come for Watamote-tier psychological black comedy.

Watching the Futaba threads week by week was an experience, let me tell you that.

>betrayal of expectations

It's an adaptation of a currently running manga. You could have a point if it was an original work, but the story is out there, and this is what it is. It's country bumpkin shenanigans, yes, but it's also jokes about how Machi can't deal with a lot of things. And some of them can be a bit mean spirited. But overall, it's still all comedic in nature. I'll say it again, maybe the anime didn't go as great a job at conveying some of those aspects, but to say that it was some sort of bait and switch is wrong. If anything, turning it into whatever this "comfy" shit means to all lot of people would have been the big departure.

"The nips" are misguided if they thought that was the case. The idea that they need to insert their "innocent" expectations into a late night anime with clear intentions to make the little girl suffer is moronic.

For the most part except the idol arc. Your argument only makes sense if it actually DID follow the manga.

Yes of course because having ryona threads, arguing over which boatslut/tankslut/idolslut is most rapeable, sharing strategies they have over beating fetish-laden degenerate RPG h-games, and whatever at the same time while complaining about Kuma Miko is so ESSJAAAYDUBAWYU, right? That's right he should have. Unfortunately, the social and financial environment surrounding late night anime would be detrimental to both him and the associated parties which is why it was terminated.
>>
>>143124259
Nothing terrible happened this arc, either - everyone was kind to Machi and she would have made cute friends if she didn't show the exact same problems she's always had. Even the conclusion with Machi going back into fear mode was something that you could have expected from how she's always acted.
Hell, people are finding issue even with the two pages that got adapted from the manga just because the circumstances immediately before it were different (a nightmare vs. a decision after a painful experience). I don't know what the fuck is going on.
>>
>>143124432
>That's right he should have. Unfortunately, the social and financial environment surrounding late night anime would be detrimental to both him and the associated parties which is why it was terminated.
But why is that? I thought you say it is funny to watch people being abused? Wouldn't it benefit the franchise to allow the abuse to continue, using the studio crew as targets? Wouldn't it be just as hilarious as the anime?
>>
>>143124543
It could be, my friend. But the unfortunate thing is that it is even less financially viable to build such a reputation in the business world. So the benefit provided to the franchise would be moot if it becomes less trusted by the general non-shitposting fanbase.

This whole mess was Machi's fault really. She half asses a competition just for a chance to go to the city. She is underestimating the idol business. >>143128022
She's just too weak. It's cute when she blushes speaking in public, but it sucks when there is no one else to balance Yoshio's bullshit.

>>143128128
The first episode was clearly a comedy. As is the manga. Are you playing dumb or are you so autistic that you cannot tell the difference between comedy and drama? In the first episode we learned that Machi hates the village, but is incapable of living in the city yet. As the audience, we know that she's going to remain in the village because there would be no point otherwise, it would be a bait and switch. So it promises an episodic story about Machi either being toyed with by the villagers in a lighthearted way or trying to prove herself and failing comically, and that's what it delivers. Until the end, when they decided to make her suffering too realistic and traumatize her. If there were more episodes they could save it by simply ignoring any consequences and continuing like usual, but being the last one it makes it look like Machi being fucked up is definitive.

And don't talk about sexual harassment like it was ever serious and not played for laughs and fanservice. It is shown several times that Yoshio doesn't think anything of it. However, if the anime director had decided to go extra edgy and turned him into a real pedophile who gets off by touching little girls I'm sure there would be people now saying it was always obvious, and everyone who didn't see it is a fucking comfyfag retard.
>>
>>143128807
When a comedy ends on a punchline about one of the main characters being castrated it's clearly a dark comedy. Most of the Machi suffering was welcomed and fell under that umbrella.

However the idolshit was indeed garbage for bringing unwarranted, non-funny drama into the series at its most crucial point.
>>
>>143129040
I don't think this shit is even comparable to the suffering in the previous episodes, she just sperged out for no reason for 2 episodes, with not even a punchline.

I agree that the suffering wasn't even good. Her freakout at the store was way better, especially the way she clung to Yoshio afterward. Her part timing was unique in that she brought misery to all everyone around her, not just to the named characters. Not only did the idolshit not do anything new, it didn't even try to make her freakout interesting in terms of aftermath.

So? Machi has just experienced one relatively minor failure in her short life. She may recover if she wants to in the future. Sometimes it is necessary to experience such things to grow as a person. You can't get everything in life and that is honestly one of the best messages I've seen in anime. Besides, she's perfectly fine in the village and she doesn't actually hate living in the sticks.

And her supposed guardian and friend, due to his selfishness, blew that failure up to a lesson on giving into escapism.

>You can't get everything in life and that is honestly one of the best messages I've seen in anime.
It is indeed, but that is not what this particular episode was doing at all. Like I said above, the lesson Machi learned here was not to accept failure but to be completely dependent on others and not to try anything difficult anymore.

>Besides, she's perfectly fine in the village and she doesn't actually hate living in the sticks.
It's debatable whether or not she is actually fine with living in the village but the anime has made a point of emphasizing that the village is in decline and that there was a desperate need for a Revitalization Plan, which they placed Machi at the center of. The future isn't completely bright for them if they can't think of anything else now that Machi has given up entirely.

The ending was awful.

The whole talk about sacrificing the miko does nothing but make yoshio look like a cunt because the supposed heroic element of sacrifice isn't there if Yoshio is losing nothing and if Machi is not making a real choice.
The mental regression to a childish state for the sake of not leaving your home being presented as positive is so fucked up that's not even funny. Anarcho-primitivism mixed with Pter pan syndrome, could work if the mc wasn't a little girl.
Machi is genuinely mentally ill and no one seems to care.

>>
>>143134885
It was his first direction job.
>>
You know, I can actually forgive the mindbreak and bullying. What really gets me though, the thing I think is the actual fucked up part, is that at the end they're all smiling and happy music is playing like it's a good thing.
>>
>>143135074
Oh right I just checked but still.
>>
>>143135184
It is a good thing.
>>
>>143135074
Honestly though he did pretty well, I loved the anime except for the last bit. Shame that's what everyone will remember.
>>
>>143135396
Well you can see the anime original episodes as the true test of his directing ability and he failed quite miserably.

Author's blog post. Basically formalities to the animation staff but also saying that he didn't check the screenplay as he decided to leave it all to the staff.
>>
>>143135494
*Manga's author
>>
>>143133831
>>143135494
I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for the people involved.
>>
>>143135526
>>143135494

So basically "I'd like to thank the animation staff for their work. The fuck up is on their end"?
>>
>>143135651
Pretty much.
>>
>>143135616
Why? They fucked up, plain and simple.
>>
>>143135494
This really goes to show how people can make mountains out of mollys. Ridiculous.
>>
What was so horrible about the ending?

I thought it was a decent finale
>>
>>143135494
>author is a tumblrite
That explains the terrible backlash from the fans. They probably come from that place. Hmm, I wonder if there are people who had similar reactions on /a/. Nah, they couldn't possibly be there, could they?
>>
>>143135681
Fuck off already. Fans in the East and West hated it, and all parties involved recognized it as shit. You're not convincing anyone with your "hurr it's not a bad end!" bullshit.
>>
>>143135764
Good post.
>>
>>143135766
>Fans in the East and West hated it,
No autists in imageboards hated it, their opinions goes for shit as far as I'm concerned.
>>
>>143135824
"autists in imageboards" are some of the only people who watched it too.

Nice source you have there.

Can't get much more passive aggressive than this.
>I didn't check the script. I chose to leave it to the professionals. That's why I may not be qualified to say this, but I think Yoshio's lines were terrible.
>>
>>143135824
>The actual fans and creators hated it
Your opinion is the worthless one, especially when you fucking idiots can't say anything other than "No it was totally the normal course of events" while completely ignoring how out of place it was in the series.

But please, go ahead and continue believing your shit taste matters.
>>
>>143135989
>creators hated it
You mean they had to "apologise" just because a bunch of autists threw a fit.
>>
>>143135958

She was the OP singer, right?
>>
>>143136091
You mean the majority threw a fit. If it was just a handful of angry autists that's par for the course for an anime. When a studio actually comes out and apologizes it's usually because they fucked up and pissed off a large portion of the viewers and its hurting sales.
>>
>>143136091
Desperately trying to distance yourself from it and the fucking mangaka calling it out are an acknowledgment of a clear cut mistake.
>>
>>143136249
I don't think the studio has apologized.

also,you are fucking lezzi

It may be a mistake in financial terms because the main audience is, as suspected, tumblrites. In artistic terms, it was perfectly fine since many people unaffiliated with the aforementioned site enjoyed it as it were. It's just a pity that the target audience had such stringent requirements for their cartoons.

Was Machi's giving up on school in the city also anime original?
>>
>>143136455
>Plenty of people liked it
Citation needed

>Tumblr didn't
Nope. Radical tone shift and ending that's inconsistent with the actual story has no artistic merit. Get over yourself, autist. Your opinions aren't worth shit.
