actually, I can see arc-v approaching its climax. for as 'filler' as synchro was, it really progressed the plot of HITOTSU-NI and brought the factions closer together. It's not out of the question to think that once yuya and co. arrive in yugo jigen, that they'll reunite with the rest of the lancers soon after, and they'll lead the assault on academia with synchro jigen and the reformed you show school following behind them.

DM: liked- tried a lot of different things, even the filler was quite enjoyable
disliked- hasn't aged super well, and the duels are kinda meh to watch now

GX: liked- Judai. he got a fantastic amount of character development, and ended up one of the, if not the best character in the franchise.

disliked- most of the incredibly forgettable support characters, and season 1 was painful

5D's: liked- the first half. the characters were fantastically written, duels engaging, and the conflict for a lot of characters felt real

disliked- crow. felt incredibly shoehorned in, ruined the development of a character I really liked(rua), and was the start of the massive changes to the plot that led to future robots stopping the robot apocalypse by causing a different robot apocalypse.

ZEXAL- liked: the aesthetics and the barians. I absolutely loved the augmented vision designs and the way pretty much every archetype was designed, especially the numbers. the barians, meanwhile, were fantastically written, and vector carried season 2.

disliked: Yuma. he was basically judai, but any hint of development he received got completely reversed, and then he got to deus ex machina his way to fix his problems. nasch vs yuma remains one of my all-time favourite duels however.

ARC-V: like: the use of all the summoning mechanics. no one mechanic is shown to be inherently superior to another, and this is exemplified in yuya and reiji, who use all the summoning mechanics in different ways.

dislike: the pacing. there are several stretches of crap, followed by 3 episodes of massive hype. the synchro arc especially suffered from this, and as a result, now the xyz arc looks like it's only going to be like 15 episodes.

What one hour specials? Yugioh has had 2 in the entire history in the franchise. They aren't regular occurrences. The one we got was because an episode wasn't able to air so they aired two together.
